Helpful indeed!

Through Regain, my husband and I have been able to access therapy much easier and quicker than with traditional counseling through our insurance provider. We are able to choose from a great list of providers and switch at any time. The therapist we’ve chosen has been a great help in navigating our relationship and I’m so thankful that Regain exists to help. Regain and BetterHelp have both been great tools for me on my therapy journey.

Shocking customer service

Shocking customer service, for the first week they offered a therapist who could only offer times at about 9am which are no good for anyone. The site said to speak to the therapist to reoslve it which I tried to do and eventually I heard back I would need to get another.

No problem, a week later we have a new therapist who seems very nice and helpful in our first session, but then the next session he never showed up to? No communication at all with him, and Regain said we wouldn't recieve any money back unless we cancelled our memebership and quit? We wanted our money back for the weeks we hadn't had sessions and to just resume when he was back which didn't seem to me to be a very tall order??

We wanted to keep attending therapy but by the time we heard back form our therapist we had three weeks of payments in which we haven't had any sessions, and the support team seem unable to assist unless we cancelled our account totally. I then asked if we could cancel, get our money back, and then sign up again with the same therapist and it has gone quiet - terrible customer service.

I was doubtful about online therapy

I was doubtful about online therapy, but it's actually been great. My partner and I both feel connected to and supported by our counsellor. The platform is affordable, and immediately accessible, which were both paramount in our decision to join Regain.

Regain is ripping people off

Regain is ripping people off. When I was taking the membership, I thought I will pay now and use the service whenever I need it. I wasnt able to use the service due to a personal emergency for 2 months. Now these people deduct money from their customers account and it doesnt matter to them whether their customers are taking any service or not.

Customers are like cash cows for them, they wont worry about whether their customers are getting service, what matters to them is whether they are getting the weekly pay customer signed up for.

Our therapist is very kind and knowledgeable. She has lots of resources to resolve many issues. We have been so lucky to have her time, resources and patience. The admin staff are also very helpful and explain things very clearly

The company says it will link accounts…

update 11/27/2024: and response to the company; The only way this makes sense is that one person from the couple is allowed to make a profile. This defeats the purpose and/or effort from both parties involved and one sides it rather than trying to bring the couple together, one person had to jump though numerous hurdles and of you have already used an email, you can not use that address at all to connect with your partner. And the repsonse to the spam and junk comments are as such: the messages received where 24 hours or more in response. They were NOT in spam or junk, but rather the solutions to the very detailed concerns I sent were off topic and not at all pertaining to the problems listed. And any effort to relay that was met with more auto response and a unhelpful " solution" as if picked off the main home page out of ignorence and dismissle. Kind of like telemarkeritors ready off a printed preset dialogue. Sad really. And its laughable that you claim the company did not release private data when the report by the F.T.C. says the oppisite. But denial is a legal tactic, and of course you dont want to loose revanue even if you are flat out wrong, and proof and reports listed below will show. No itegrity it seems. The company says it will link accounts with your partner but does not. Linked 2 separate emails only to have them leave me behind a pay wall when my partner already paid. Any efforts to contact the company and rectify the situation have been also met with pay walls when they already received payment. The assigned therapist i got days before my partner was perfect when she hadn't received any therapist recommendations after paying on her account! Seems to be a a marketing ploy to set you up but any attempt to talk to said provider is neet with a payment screen. Secondly if you have not set up payment information,
you seem to be fast tracked into available therapists and have them contact you in a more speedy manor verse already paying and being put on the back burner. No contact number other than the sister site of better help which has to email them. Also the just over a year accusations of them leaking personal information on Facebook, and and other social media platforms for advertising purposes. Despite there privacy regulations... do not use them. As I've stated, I tried numerous times to contact them and waited the 24 hour period only to be replied to with vague descriptions of how sign in and link to my partners account. The problem is if you have already signed up an individual account with a personal email, you will not be able to connect to you partner unless you start completely over with a new email and loose all of your conversations and any messages from the therapist. And again, a contact phone number to discuss any issues or even verble communication is not available. This following set of paragraphs is copy and pasted from the FTC dated 2023:

Despite those promises, the FTC says BetterHelp used a wide variety of tactics to share the health information of over 7 million consumers with platforms like Facebook, Snapchat, Criteo, and Pinterest for the purpose of advertising. You’ll want to read the complaint for details, but here are just a few examples. In 2017, BetterHelp allegedly uploaded the email addresses of all current and former clients to Facebook – nearly 2 million in total – to target them with ads to refer their Facebook friends to BetterHelp for mental health services. During another period, the FTC says BetterHelp disclosed to Facebook for advertising purposes the previous therapy of 1.5 million people who visited or used BetterHelp’s site. The source of that information: their responses to the intake question “Have you been in counseling or therapy before?”

But that’s not all. According to the complaint, BetterHelp broke its privacy promises by disclosing to Snapchat the IP and email addresses of approximately 5.6 million former visitors to target them with BetterHelp ads. In addition, for a six-month period, the company disclosed to Criteo the email addresses of over 70,000 visitors – including people who had looked into Pride Counseling and Faithful Counseling. Similarly, for a one-year period, BetterHelp disclosed visitors’ email addresses to Pinterest. What was in it for BetterHelp? According to the complaint, “Using this health information for advertising, [BetterHelp] has brought in hundreds of thousands of new Users, resulting in millions of dollars in additional revenue.

Their business model is WRONG

For the record, I pursued the idea of signing up for Regain for couples counseling, but ultimately felt like I was seeing red flags and fortunately did not give them my money. I find it fundamentally wrong that this company is forcing a weekly fee, regardless of if you are seeing your therapist weekly or not. I would not pay my doctor’s office weekly (virtual or in person) if I wasn’t seeing my doctor weekly - so why should therapy be any different? You should pay per appointment for therapy - period. This company feels to me that they are scamming customers in need for their money. Previously when gone to therapy, I’ve always paid per session and I encourage anyone looking for therapy to look for alternative options than Regain.

I signed up… no available slots for weeks! Yet charged £192…. With no replies

This place is a complete rip off , using vulnerable people to make money

The sign up is awful , we had a therapist offer mainly evening times then go on holiday with no contact

I am so angry and stressed STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY

It’s a great affordable option!

I have been using Regain for about a month and a half now for marriage counseling. Let me start by saying the first 2 therapists were not a fit for us. However, thankfully it was super easy to pick and change our therapist to the one we have now who is AMAZING. He has helped us repair our marriage and it’s been such a blessing. Not only can you phone or video chat with your therapist you can message them anytime too. I will definitely recommend regain to anyone looking to seek therapy for themselves or for their couples counseling! Also note that you can see when choosing a therapist their approach to therapy and what they would implement in their sessions and what their strengths are to find the best fit for you!

Impossible to cancel your subscription

Impossible to cancel your subscription. Have emailed multiple times for a refund. Initially there was contact to upsell me onto another service, but since I refused they haven't emailed back. Super frustrating with no one to contact apart from contact@regain

I signed up for couples therapy with my…

I signed up for couples therapy with my then girlfriend (now ex) to have some help with some issues. I was very reluctant because I feel therapy is always tailored towards the needs of women rather then men. My ex has been very difficult to deal with (we also share a child together) and has gone out of her way to slander me in the chat knowing that I wont be writing large replies. The therapist has been very unprofessional making one on one appoinments with my ex when it was supposed to be couples therapy. She also failed to remain impartial. If you're a male do not waste your time with this company.

The therapy we got was real but the…

The therapy we got was real but the billing is a complete rip off. They overbooked their therapist, you are supposed to get one session per week billed at $80 a week paid in one lump sum of $320. However our therapist has been unavailable for two of those weeks and these rip off artists will not give us a raincheck. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to which they never responded. Which accounts for their F rating. Next step I guess will be to file a dispute with our credit card and see where that goes. So I would avoid this place at all costs. The therapy we got was real. Too bad this company is ran by a bunch of crooks. Buyer beware.

Left Regain after the 2nd Therapy attempt

We tried Regain for 6+ months with two different therapists. The request I had from the therapists was to better understand our negative communication pattern and other problems in the relationship and how to solve them.
The additional 1h webinars and worksheets from the therapists have been good quality and the initial learning were good.
Both therapists have been good listeners. It feels like they can listen to your disagreement stories forever. The first therapist gave us just tips like listening and understanding better to each other. Since this was not enough to solve our serious problems we requested a change.
Regain gave us a more experienced therapist, who was also teaching at the university. He applied positive psychology, so we both received tons of compliments for how great we are and what great work we do but we never went into the problems and how to solve them. I mentioned 3 times in writing and during the sessions what my expectations were and since no progress was made, our private problems just got bigger and I stopped the collaboration with the Regain therapists.
If you want to learn more psychological terms and diseases of your spouse, Regain is great. If you want somebody to listen well to your complaints, Regain is great as well. You want a solution for your communication and relationship problems? You most probably won't find it in Regain.

Therapists are not being removed or even flagged for unethical practices

The Regain platform allows therapists to continue who claim abuse is not real and it’s only in the view of the person being abused. She made me the brunt of her disagreeing personal beliefs on politics and religion when her literal job was to be unbiased. She argued every point I made and caused me to be defensive and on edge instead of doing her job. Her behavior tripled my stress level and upset at a time when I was already seriously struggling emotionally. When I stated I don't have to continue to be around abusers, she said she disagrees because it's my spouse's family. This platform should seriously consider whether she is a good fit to continue offering services to unsuspecting clients. Denying clients their right to be heard and accepted for their trauma experiences is itself a form of abuse. She was more interested in whether we are going to church on Sundays than the issues I stated to her we needed to work through. The bad reviews given to therapists on the platform do not show up on the profiles for future clients to see, which only protects the therapist and continues to allow this to happen to future customers/clients. There is no red flag system where the platform takes action on complaints. Even trustpilot does not allow the therapist's name to be public to warn others to run the other way.

So grateful for this app and the people who run it.

Because therapy is so expensive in the UK, this app has been amazing to get in touch with and communicate therapists. Our first match was no good for us so the team got in touch immediately to resolve this and the next week we were matched. I was initially concerned that I had payed for 2 weeks and not spoken to anyone, reached out to support and got an extra 2 weeks free. Our therapist is wonderful. And really good at his job. I left a review about him and as thanks I received a lovely diary. Can't rate this app and the team highly enough. Great job and thank you for genuinely caring about the people who use it. Wish more people knew about it.

Distant connections can be meaningful

Having a counselor that you can reach out to even when they are in a distance can be meaningful and fulfill a need. I recently lost a daughter to cancer and I find more comfort in reaching out to others than I do to friends that are close to me, I find more condolences for my healing. Friends I suppose are not to be used to help you heal from trauma?

BEST APP EVER

This has been the best app I ever used. The customer service is outstanding and they provide you with an update very fast. I am so positively surprised with the way they approach their clients and I think every company should look up to them.
The therapists that are available on the app are outstanding as well.
