I finally found an online company that caters to petite, older women! I no longer have to take my clothes to get altered, and the clothes I receive match my style and preferences.

I was particularly impressed when I received an item with a flaw and Short Story was responsive in assisting with this concern.

I love this “new” feeling of wearing clothes that fit my arms, legs, torso, etc! I don’t like having to pay extra for alterations so in the last 10-15 years I got used to wearing things that were too long for my size. I had forgotten how wonderful it is to have clothes that hit me in the right spot. Although I have only received 2 boxes so far, the stylists did a fantastic job taking my feedback from the first box and incorporating it in the second box. I appreciate receiving stylish options that I didn’t spend hours searching for while trying to find petite options. Their customer success has also been great as I travel often for work and have needed to ask for extensions. All in all, I am incredibly happy and thankful that I found this company.

My quality of life has improved since joining Short Story! I don't have to stress anymore about not having anything to wear. I hate shopping so this has been a God send!

I've been doing monthly boxes with Short Story for about 5 months now and have absolutely loved it. I'm 5'4" and it is so hard to find dresses and jumpers that actually fit—yet they’ve sent several that I’ve ended up keeping. They really listen to your feedback and consistently come up with great options.

I even let them know I’m a Warm Spring, and they’ve done a great job including fun colors that fit my season. The customer service is top notch—friendly, warm, responsive, and easy to get in touch with.

The shipments arrive in the cutest box, beautifully packaged with a little ribbon, and the keep/return process is truly a piece of cake.

As a business owner myself, I really appreciate an honest, well-run service—and Short Story is absolutely knocking it out of the park. Thank you for providing such a much-needed option for us shorter women!

I love this box! I cannot believe how much time it saves me. I'm 4'11" and clothes shopping is so frustrating. I love that this is curated for people like me. It's not only shorter jeans, but thoughtful creation like smaller patterns and pocket placement. Even more, the consultants are willing to work with you one on one to get an even more tailored box. 5 stars sounds unrealistic but as a fellow short girlie (4’10) I was in shock to finally find clothes that fit me. Not only that, but they have excellent customer service support and good at responding to inquiries if needed.

I love receiving my Short Story box! The items are all good quality and there is a noticeable effort to include items that work well together and take my feedback into account. I would absolutely recommend it to any petite women!

It’s been so great to get clothes that fit well delivered right to my door! I’ve gotten several great pairs of jeans that fit like a glove and several tops that I love. Everything is high quality and the customer service is great.

It’s hard out there for a short girl to find clothes that don’t need to be altered. So when I found this service I was thrilled to try it. A year later and I am still a fan. They do a great job of nailing your style and finding options that fit perfectly. Their customer service is also top notch. If you opt to chat with them, you will get to talk to a real human instead of a chat bot which is unheard of these days. If you have issues with pants that are too long or shirts that hang well below your waistline, I recommend giving this a try!

Short Story has truly elevated my fashion game over the past year! I’ve been with them for almost twelve months now, and I’m currently on my 9th box - with every single delivery, my style feels more refined and more “me.” The pieces are thoughtfully chosen, flattering, and always introduce me to looks I wouldn’t have picked for myself but end up loving.

They are literally the BEST for anyone like me who gets overwhelmed by shopping and ends up hoarding all the wrong kind of stuff (guilty 🙋🏻‍♀️). Short Story makes the whole process stress-free and actually fun for sure!

I missed a box due to shipping damage and short story went overboard to fix the error. I like most everything they send me

It's been a while since I've used Short Story. I loved the boxes I received then which was about 2 years ago. I loved everything I received in the most recent box too. My body has changed, so the sizing was off. Most of the items were too big, which is good! So figuring out what size works best for me may take a little bit of time. I'm all about working through that process. I did keep one blouse that I fell in love with and exchanged a pair of jeans. The quality of clothing has never disappointed. I've used Stitch Fix and Daily Look and quality was not comparable, plus they did not have petite sizing. I definitely recommend Short Story!

I signed up for Short Story believing it would be a fun and supportive service for petites, but instead I’ve been dealing with repeated unauthorized charges. Despite locking my checking account, Short Story has continued attempting to charge me for items I did not keep. When I’ve asked for clarification, they have been unable to even tell me what the charges are for.

This isn’t just an occasional mistake — it’s become a pattern. Short Story has refunded charges after the fact, but that doesn’t erase the disruption to my finances or the late fees I’ve incurred from other companies because my account was held up. The lack of transparency and accountability is unacceptable.

At this point, I see this as systemic negligence. If they cannot manage accurate billing or clear communication with one customer, I have to wonder how many others are being wrongly charged under the guise of “unreturned items.”

Until Short Story addresses its operational issues and can guarantee accurate, transparent billing, I cannot recommend this company.

I signed up with short story and at first I loved it! I don’t know if they changed the stylists or what but the last box was terrible, nothing worked, nothing fit right. All was returned via USPS, unfortunately they still charged me $489. They never scanned my return in properly! That was June 12. It is now July 14, they have my money and my return! They still have not processed my return after a month! THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY!!! Deeply disappointed!!

For The Record, I received an extension to return the items late due to my father passing away. My credit card company has told me that it is Short Story who is holding up my refund.

I've only used this company twice, but much like other styling companies I've used, stitch fix, daily look, and there were a couple of others, they do not pay attention to what my style is and what I like and do not like. I've given them links to styles I like on Pinterest, I've sent them screenshots of outfits, and I feel as though they are not paying attention. The first box I received had a couple of pants that I kept, but I explained that I did not like pants, or bottoms with fake pockets. Got some bottoms with fake pockets is my second box. They also sent me some tops with puffy sleeves. I advised I did not like puffy sleeves, guess what I got in my second box, you got it puffy sleeves. I also had a store credit for a pair of the original pants I kept because the zipper broke the first and only time I wore them. For whatever reason my store credit was not being applied to the things I was keeping from this second box.

Edit: They have used my store credit on my latest purchases.

Great quality clothing. This is great for short people like me. I'm 5'2" and it's hard finding clothes in stores. I love getting my boxes.

This is such a fun and convenient way to add to your wardrobe! It is so difficult for me to find clothes that fit my 5'1 frame, but all of the clothes were the perfect length. Customer service is incredible. They were very generous and understanding when my own mistake caused a return to be lost in delivery. Highly recommend!
