Problems but good service
I ordered a shower tray at a good online price. It was dispatched quickly but unfortunately when the delivery van turned up the shower tray was obviously damaged. The tray was only wrapped in a plastic bag and the broken bits rattled as the driver moved the tray. I sent it back. This was a Saturday so I had to wait until Monday to speak to someone. They quickly arranged a replacement to be sent out the next day but the driver ran out of time. It was dropped off the next morning. This tray was well packaged in cardboard. It was not the fault of the office staff who were very helpful and the delivery drivers too. I will be ordering again from this company.

One of the worst customer service experiences I can remember!
I would advise others to think carefully before purchasing from Showers To You. Our experience has been extremely disappointing, particularly when we needed help resolving a problem with an expensive product.
Our builder ordered Merlyn Ionic Essence inline shower doors through the company’s standard retail website for our house renovation. Four doors were ultimately purchased because the first was the wrong size. Showers To You refused to accept it back after installation had begun and the sizing issue was discovered.
We moved back into our partially completed house at the end of July. Since then, the shower door in our main bathroom has repeatedly dropped on its hinges, preventing it from closing properly and requiring repeated readjustment. The plastic strip at the bottom of this door has also broken off. We consider this unacceptable for a product sold at a premium price. We reported the recurring problem and requested that the faulty door and two unused doors be exchanged for suitable sliding alternatives from the same manufacturer. The glass is 8 mm thick, so one would expect a sliding system would better hold its thickness and weight rather than 2 hinges.
However, after numerous time-consuming communications with the online Sales assistant at Showers To You, we have repeatedly been told the solution is to tighten the screws further, even to the point where they squeak. The online sales assistant acknowledged that other customers had experienced the same issue, stating that 100% of those cases had been resolved by tightening the hinges until they squeak. We have done this but it leaves us questioning what happens if the problem keeps recurring. Repeatedly tightening the hinges is not a satisfactory long-term solution if the door continues to lose alignment. We have also been told that if this does not resolve the issue, it must be an installation problem rather than a fault with the door.
Our concern is not simply how to get the door closing properly today, or how to get a new plastic strip which has been ignored, but what happens when it drops again in a few months. Are we expected to keep tightening and readjusting the hinges indefinitely? We need confidence that the underlying problem has been resolved, not just temporarily corrected.
Most frustratingly, the only online sales assistant has refused to deal directly with me because our builder placed the order. Despite the doors being selected for our own home, delivered directly to our property and paid for by us through reimbursement to the builder, the online sales assistant’s position is that I have no consumer rights because the builder made the purchase. That has been said despite the builder being on copy and sending emails himself. This has become a barrier to resolving a problem with a product in our own home, rather than an opportunity to find a practical solution. I find it extraordinary that the way an order was processed through a standard retail website is being used to shut down any meaningful discussion with the people actually experiencing the problem.
We are now left with expensive doors and no satisfactory solution. We are being told, in effect, that the remaining doors must be installed before we can establish whether they develop the same problem, despite the additional cost and disruption this would involve. I am expecting that the response to this review will be that it’s the law that they don’t have to do anything as that is how they respond to all negative reviews. It’s not their fault or responsibility, it’s the manufacturer’s fault and not theirs.
My reply to that would be, problems can arise with any product. What distinguishes a good retailer from a bad one is how it responds when a customer raises a genuine concern. In our experience, Showers To You has shown little willingness to find a reasonable compromise.
The product problem is frustrating but the customer service has made it considerably worse.

We are sorry to hear of the frustration this situation has caused.
On review we have offered support in relation to the specific issue reported with the shower door and have also sought guidance from Merlyn, the manufacturer. Merlyn has advised that this is a commonly reported issue where the hinge screws have not been tightened sufficiently, and has provided guidance on the appropriate torque to ensure the hinges are secured correctly.
We have explained that, when tightened to the manufacturer’s guidance, the hinges should not require repeated adjustment.
We have also made clear that, should there be evidence of a genuine product fault, we are happy to seek further guidance and assistance from the manufacturer.
In relation to returning or exchanging the doors, the order was placed and purchased by the builder/company concerned. Our contract of sale is therefore with that company, and any discussion regarding returns, exchanges or changes to the goods purchased needs to be handled with the original purchaser.
We appreciate that this is not the outcome you were hoping for, but we have remained willing to provide technical support and assistance in resolving the reported issue, and we remain happy to assist should a genuine product fault be identified.
