easy to book online, however the lack of on site staff make's it very difficult for a first time user to gain access, please explain you have to download the app to be able to get in !

Everything absolutely amazing. From booking place to using actual storage site.
Maybe I couldn't find, but if there is none, for convenience I was missing bathroom to wash hands and as much as I understand possible reasons, it could be place for a little amount of trash to dispose..

Unable to complete the online recognition after trying over 12 times.
Female staff at South Croydon, not friendly, same as last year. Not helpful.

Day on move wasn’t given code to enter storage. Call number no help managed to get into the storage. Wasn’t told the room had pillar sticking out. Call manager not helpful or apologised will consider moving asap. Disappointing as use in past has been good. Also only one lift working not good enough.

The customer service assistant was extremely helpful and friendly and made the process of hiring a storage unit quick and enjoyable.

I have a lockup at South Croydon and am perfectly happy with it. In addition, the staff are friendly and helpful.
However, the Croydon Fiveways site is operated remotely from South Croydon and appeared to be neglected. The exit gates are permanently open and, according to a woman I talked to, have been for some time. In addition, only one lift was working.
If I had known what the Fiveways site was like, I would not have booked a lockup there!
Update: Just had a phone call from Shurgard, who assure me that they are addressing the problem with the exit gates and the lift. I am, therefore, revising my rating.

Simple, easy to use, easy access

After booking online I went to check the unit prior to the day I needed. I was assured that all would be ready for me.On the day after paying £400 to hire a van and some help we arrived unloaded and found the unit was still locked. I have complained already and have been refunded the 1st months rent, but I feel this is inadequate compared to the money I have already lost. I feel that the second month's rent should also be discounted.

Easy to set up my account online. Just a quick visit a few days before the start date to provide photo ID. On the moving day access was straightforward, the site felt secure and the lifts and trolleys worked well.

Doesn’t open weekends so had to go during lunch hour to pass over my ID.
Store all locked up and no one around. Waited over 20 mins and had to call head office as no one was even picking up the phone.
Eventually someone came to the door and let me in.
I understand times are hard and companies are cutting back but when people work all week and your office hours are during normal Working hours, how are people meant to actually visit the reception?
Received email stating that they would be open on the Saturday in question for me to take my ID in, to which I was told that wasn’t correct, they never open on a Saturday and Sunday

Excellent security measures getting in and out of the facility, not like any of its competition. Friendly staff and easy to access trolleys, lifts etc.

It's the perfect spot not too far from where live Flexible and there have nice deals. The whole experience was very quick during the sign in.

I was not able to access my unit on day 1 - it was not ready. The member of staff covering that day was not able to get access to the premises while I was there. I had to return the other day. Staff very helpful.
