I LOVE Smoko

I love Smoko! I'm confused about the negative comments, since my personal experience has always been great. I feel products are good quality, well sewn plushies, super cute designs; customer service and shipping always great. Smoko is my favorite place for super cute well made plushies.

Cheap plastic junk sold at a premium

These are cheap, low-quality items that are sold at a premium because they're cute designs and they have a snazzy website. Their night lights are cheap PVC with uneven thickness, so they look awful and splotchy when they're on. The print quality is also pretty bad; mine had a fingerprint smudge in the ink. How does this stuff get past quality control? Ha ha, like they have QC..
Also, I'm pretty sure they nuke negative reviews on their site.

Item broke and hiding negative reviews

I just tried posting a 1 star review and it didn't actually post my review. I saw more reviews from trustpilot saying that they had the same issue as well.

I bought my tayto on October 27 and it broke in less than a month. The usb port is flimsy and I contacted for help on November 27. I still haven't gotten any response. I am obsessed with the taytos but at this point I'll never recommend them and will be looking for every place I can report the hiding of negative reviews.

Good products, however INSANELY expensive outside the US.

Smoko is a good company. Their website has a variety of incredibly cute products. The prices can be expensive, but if you buy during discount seasons, it's quite doable. For me, this was during the Black Friday week(s). Products were off by $5 to $10. I bought about 6 products and the total was $99.90 and I saved $27 with the discounts. Adding another $11.10 discount with a discount code (THANKS HONEY). That's a total of $38.10. I was really happy as these were Christmas presents. However, when I went to the checkout, my total price went up to $185.72. The shipping was $85.82 (economy). So it's not even priority shipping and EXCLUDING taxes. Even ordering one key chain would cost me about $55, which outprices the key chain. To me, this was quite shocking and I contacted their customer service. They were really kind and replied to me really fast. They told me that these prices were "normal" for those outside the US. For me, it was quite unacceptable, but as I already spent some time searching for the items and deciding whether to get them or not, I actually was set to get the items.

A few hours later after contemplating, I still decided to get the items. It would just mean that every item would have an average price of $31, which is really expensive as two of the items are normally priced at $12 dollars and with the discount now $8. Even so, they were perfect gifts and I decided to get them.

Today I got them. I did have to pay taxes which were about $34,31 (converted from Euros). It has been 13 days since the purchase. Processing the order took 7 days and the shipment itself took 7 days. So it was really fast and made its way to me before Christmas. Kudos to Smoko and FedEx for the speed. Overall quite happy with the order. They arrived safely and aside from some boxes being a bit smashed (no bubble plastic or any protection for the items except for their boxes), all the items were in good condition.

In total I've spent $220,06 on 6 Christmas presents. 2 of them were photo frames, 2 of them are Bubble Tea ambient lights, 1 karaoke microphone, and a mushroom ambient light. Was it worth it? Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. I have no clue about the durability yet. I'm sure my friends will love them A LOT, but for that price, I could buy a lot of other things as well.

I've come to place a review for Smoko because I think they deserve an honest review. Their customer service is good, and their delivery and speed are good other than maybe making sure to wrap the items in bubble plastic next time. Their website is easily accessible with often discounts and a wide variety of cute stuff. The only letdown is honestly the shipping costs. So I'd like to give 4 stars. 4 because the items arrived in good condition, and the customer support was really fast at replying (even during the high season) and kind. Not 5, because the shipping price is insane and also because some of the boxes were smashed (not really nice if you plan on gifting them).

For Smoko, I'd like to advise them (I also mailed, but didn't get a reply on that) to either lower the shipping prices or allow customers to choose from a wider range of shipping methods. I could only select FedEx and they are quite expensive. Maybe include DHL, USPS, and DPD? Or at least include the taxes in the items, so it's more accessible to people.

At last, would I recommend Smoko?
Yes: if you live in the US and love cute stuff; use forwarding/proxy for your packages to avoid shipping costs (AND TAX) or simply have money to spare.
No: if you live outside the US (most of us) and don't want your shipping + taxes to be more expensive than your total order.

Received a defected Tayto plush

Received a defected Tayto plush. Not enough filling inside, 2 dimples have not formed. Been fluffing the plush everyday for the last month and it’s still not forming into the intended mochi plush. Contacted them via their web chat and they said they cannot refund and issue international returns!! You’d think buying from their offical site is beneficial. Even paid for their expensive international shipping fees. I’m now stuck with a saggy plush that is half the size of what it’s suppose to be. Fake marketing and not helpful. Disappointing.

Sent broken item, but makes me pay to ship back

They sent a product (Tayto light) that does not look like the photo (it's pink, not yellow) and the light also does not work! You'd think a company would allow a full refund for a broken item but they still want me to pay for return shipping $6 for an item that came to me already broken. Unbelievably cheap on them.

I'm now asking for a replacement since it's not worth paying the shipping back. This was another option they had given me. However, they seem to have just dropped my case and will not respond to me at all. I keep seeing their live chat showing the chat representatives have been active recently, but no response from them. I know it is holiday time and probably busy so I will change this review if I do hear from them.

They also filter reviews and do not let negative reviews be posted on their website. I submitted one that's not posted and someone else here did too, and they don't show up. Stay away, doesn't seem like an ethical company that will take accountability for sending faulty products.

UPDATE: they did respond back to me and said they will send a replacement. They apologized for delay in response too. I appreciated that and I am happy they are going to send me a replacement as they offered. Updating this to three stars now.

Wonderful company

Wonderful company. Needed a boba fridge replacement and they shipped it out free of charge, didn’t need to return old one. This is how every company should treat customers. I will be shopping with them again! So happy.

Slow Customer Service

Customer service is just slow and terrible... :( I don’t like to be rude and I always try to be nice even when I’m upset. What happened was that there was a Christmas sale going on but when you clicked on the site, the prices weren’t marked down. I DMed the Insta page who told me to contact the email so I did. Once emailed, I got one of those automated messages that told me not to send multiple emails since it can cause glitches which I was planning to wait anyways so that didn’t matter. However, a week passed and no response... I was debating whether or not to contact them again but as it was the holidays, I figured they were indeed busy and I should wait...so I waited one more week but then the sale ended and I got upset since they never got back to me and now I couldn’t get the items for the sale price anymore! So I contacted them again saying that the email I sent didn’t matter anymore as the sale has ended. Surprisingly, they replied to this email and told me that their reply to my other email did not send through but that they would honor the price difference. All I needed to do was place an order and they would refund me the difference. Hearing this news made me happy as I could now get the items for the sale price! And then I asked how it would work when I put the 15% off coupon in but they told me if I wanted the holiday sale, I couldn’t use the coupon? But I was trying to explain to them that I was planning to use the coupon back during the holiday sale since this coupon also worked on sale items. So despite the lil b dumpling already being marked down to $14 and the steamer dumpling down to $12 on Instagram, the 15% coupon still would have applied as I tested it on other sale items! Thus, it would have been even cheaper! I also wanted to buy other products so using the coupon meant I could add extra things! However, because of the bug, the Instagram sale didn’t appear on the actual site, hence why I didn’t order anything. I was waiting for them to fix the bug to order it with the coupon! But then they were basically blaming me and telling me that they are doing me a favor by allowing me to buy it at a holiday price when it’s already expired. Like ok yes they are doing me a favor but like if they replied to my first email quickly or if the bug didn’t exist in the first place, this wouldn’t have been a problem? I could’ve bought the marked down items and still have used my coupon! But I had to pick one or the other... so I decided not to order as all my other products I put in the cart would of been bought at original price. Taking those out of my cart meant I couldn’t get free shipping either and so the price difference they were going to honor would have just covered shipping if you look at it this way. In any case, I wrote back to them apologizing over and over but also asking them not to blame me. I said I should’ve contacted y’all again after a week passed and I’m sorry for that but I waited patiently. I didn’t want to rush anyone or come off as rude but don’t make it all my fault as the reason why I contacted y’all in the first place was an issue on yalls end... I have yet to hear a reply from them... :’) If I got an apology back, I was going to let it be but looks like I’m not so here I am writing my experience. I don’t normally write negative reviews as it’s a hassle but this just made me upset. Next time, make sure the sale prices are on the site too please! They might respond to me after seeing this. They better not say it didn’t send through again. I’ll believe it the first time but not the second. Maybe they just don’t want to apologize... It’s weird because I wasn’t rude? You could see my emails with them and I wasn’t cussing them out, or nothing of that caliber! So I was expecting an apology back but I guess you would have to rage at them for them to apologize. I don’t know but I apologized first so it should be easy for them to say it back... Especially since they work in customer service? I’ve always apologized to my customers no matter what circumstance since sadly “customers are always right.” Of course that statement isn’t true but you still have to be kind no matter how crazy they are... I think there are certain points though where you don’t have to be nice back like if a customer is being racist sexist etc. Those type of customers are a no no! That’s just me though. It just made no sense that I was doing all the apologies when it really wasn’t my fault in the first place...I’ll take some blame as I should’ve contacted them again and again until I got a response, but don’t put the entire blame on me! I’m still bummed I couldn’t order but I guess I can’t help that. Just wish they would've worded their email differently since they really made me feel like I was being a nuisance. I’m sorry for that but if the bug didn’t exist, I could’ve gotten all the products I wanted... Yalls products though are amazing. (I gave it a two since they weren’t rude)

Disappointed customers don’t seem to bother them. I’ve had to interact with them way too much just for cute little toys.

A year ago but still irks me

Ordered for two items because I was paying for shipping. Ordered, they canceled one item saying it was out of stock and sent shipping confirmation for the other with in minutes... I would of canceled the order since the shipping was the same price as two...

I had two separate orders that were…

I had two separate orders (one for the Boba Slippers & one for the Mochi Tayto Plush) that were delayed by a month to two months and finally received the second order this past weekend. Everything arrived in great condition! Whenever I reached out to the Help Desk at Smoko, they always got back to me within a reasonable amount of time with detailed updates about the status of my order. Overall, throughout my email interactions with the Help Desk, they made me feel like they valued me as a customer.

The delays in my items were due to COVID-19 but I understand. It makes sense and delays are to be expected. There is a pandemic going on out there in the world and many businesses have to undergo changes in how they structure their own business environment especially for this type of business.

Although I had to initiate the conversation every time and follow up with the status, it doesn't bother me as this also makes sense. I am sure they are also bombarded by hundreds of other customers inquiring about the status of their delayed orders too.

Will continue to purchase more products from them as the items are super adorable!!! :)

Take caution on this site

Take caution on this site. I ordered two items, and was really excited to receive them. I was told I would receive a tracking number after about a week and a half because they’re backed up due to COVID-19. It’s now been 17 days without any communication on their part, and me waiting to hear anything. To be fair, I’ve just sent them a follow up email today, but I don’t expect to receive the items any time soon. If you need the items you purchased for an event, I would go elsewhere.

Smoko is the BEST

Smoko is the BEST! I’ve ordered from them 3 times in the last 2 weeks & each time I was very happy with my purchase! Ordering was very simple and efficient. They update you to let you know when your products have been shipped, the day it’s out for delivery & when it’s delivered. The package also came securely wrapped & even with the warning that my package could come late due to the pandemic, I still received my items in a timely matter. I got the Boba toasty plush which was super soft with a light lavender smell, the Boba keychains which light up & were super cute! I also got the adorable Boba reusable tumbler & the Boba slippers which were soft with a nice grip on the bottom. All my items were in excellent quality & I can’t wait to order from them again! Keep up the great work Smoko!

Super cute stuff!

Super cute stuff!! We own large a RGB Unicorn light, and have given the Boba lights away as gifts many times, with rave reviews from our friends. We also love the face masks which are both comfortable and we really enjoy the built in nose wires, which give a comfortable and secure fit. Thanks Smoko!
