They lied to put me into a flat where there is a problem and turns up to my door with out an appointment asking to come in covered up information request I put complaints in about my neighbours making noise they ignored that the came round mine I believe that’s Victimisation Sovereign house and I’ve got a lot to answer for I have only been with them under 4 months avoid them

Difficult to get solutions

As a leaseholder, it's really difficult to get anywhere with Sovereign regarding repairs.

Their administration is inefficient, their staff so poorly trained that they appear rude.

Service charge is more than double that on a similar flat I own where maintenance and cleaning are visibly done on a regular basis.

Ongoing problems throughout 10 years of ownership!

Their CEO should be ashamed. Well I think he probably is because his email address is not readily available!

I moved in to A property sovereign

I moved in to A property sovereign . This is the most horrific housing association going it was and exchange they smashed the house to pieces took nothing left they made me stay there til dec from June and the only reason they move me was housing disrepair claim no lie this house the moved me to whilst doing mine is no better absolutely shocking it got to be the trashes houses uk Also you cannot get past reception. Emails not answered lies staff in peoples houses talking about me twice have the proof they’ve been told as I didn’t want them to loose their jobs petty ! I’ve got 23 illnesses disabled and they still don’t care ! Jobs they lie as well their running behind and just basically don’t turn up ! The videos will be available on tik tok soon search Sovereign (sng) my squat of a home . So now I have to wait and be lied to like none there every time I phone !!

It is great regret that as a mother I…

It is great regret that as a mother I have no option but to write about the abhorrent treatment my hard working daughter and her fiance have received from SNG. They have been part owners/Tennant's since 2018 and own 40% of their property and while we are greatful for them to be able to get on the property ladder we are absolutely disgusted at how they have been treated. My daughter and her fiance have always worked hard and due to an illness, my daughter made the decision to change careers and become a childminder. This not only worked for them as a family having children of their own but offered a very valuable service to their surrounding community. Unbeknown to them somewhere in the small print of their lease 3.17 it states not to use the premises for anything other than as a private residence. Quoted on your website it clearly states businesses that are likely to be accepted are as follows: Child minding, hairdressing and beauty or using part of your home as an office.
A malicious neighbor has now reported to the SNG that my daughter is a child minder and this is where the abhorrent treatment from SNG began. They have gone through the complaints procedure and according to your office staff have exhausted all avenues of appeal. They have been threatened with all cost by your staff of legal proceedings,have been refused any face to face meetings to put their case forward and have been instructed to cease all trading. The service my daughter offers not only assists the community she lives in but the positive impact she has had on the children she cares for. She has enhanced the socialisation of the children and has watched them blossom as they grow in confidence. At no point we're your staff willing to listen to their case and just continually threatened them with legal action. Your own website states child minders are likely to be granted permission!!!
Government stance from 2023 states that housing associations should allow child minders to work from their property but yours is refusing any honest arguments from my daughter. There are many associations that do allow this including Blenham and Cottsway, so why not yours?
Your association has now forced my daughter into ceasing trading, this has not only had a serious negative impact on her health and mental health but on her childs well been as well as her fiance, but also has had a serious detrimental affect on her customers and that of their children, let alone that this decision has crucified them financially.
This needs to be addressed as your values are:

RASITS they always will be...

RASITS they always will be even if you are born here they will discriminate you by your name and my first and second are not English.
1 pets all my neighbours have cats and dogs same block but I'm not allowed only difference their white
2 camera they threatened me with election if I put up a camera they told me that it was illegal to record anyone. My response I live on the top floor alone no-one comes up here unless it's to see me. Then my White neighbour puts 2 up middle floor they didn't care why? Because she is white.
She record me and showed everyone at her job and while I was walking up the stairs I eas like omg the faces smell coming from her flat is disgusting. Then I received a letter from Sovereign saying that I need to be quiet and not speak while walking up the stairs as when she showed everyone at her work place me they started laughing hard and she was embarrassed. Agin what how is this possible? I get threatened with Evection but she gets to show everyone and I get told off no na sorry your RASITS and I can keep going..
3 music all the neighborhood can have party's put music on till midnight and it's fine if I play a song I'm in trouble it's to load the words hip hop and rnb but by neighbours can play shaggy and 50 and it's ok.
4. I had 3 friends over and received a letter asking who the 3 black men were. Everyone else can have people over without questioning.
My flat needs fixing up but I keep getting told next financial year in April but it's been 4 years and keep getting told the same but all my white neighbours get it fixed a.s.a.p
5. When I ring to complain they keep hanging up on me so I ring back and then get told I'm ringing to much and they hand up on me we've been to court about this like seriously they just keep handing up on me so how do I do anything when they clearly not dive a F...
Sovereign you clearly suck and I hope and pray that your kids get treated exactly the same way you have treated me.

Filure to take action enables a toxic living environment where antisocial behavior.

If you're considering renting from or living near a Sovereign Housing Association property, think twice. They allow their tenants to harass neighbors, damage property, and engage in criminal activities without consequence. Even when presented with clear video evidence of misconduct, they choose to believe the tenant's word over undeniable proof.

Their , property damage, and even drug use and dealing continue unchecked. Instead of protecting law-abiding residents, Sovereign Housing Association turns a blind eye, leaving victims to suffer while problematic tenants face no repercussions.

If you want a safe and respectful neighborhood, avoid Sovereign Housing Association at all costs. Their lack of accountability and refusal to act make them a disgrace to social housing management.

Half a star is to much

One star is to much for this , useless Housing Association. I would very happily leave 0 stars . I have many dealings with sovereign Now SNG all steams from Bullying from my druggie neighbours, To absolute lack off maintenance from Sovereign I noticed I have mould in my lounge on one corner of my ceiling. Called sovereign repairs , but unfortunately I spoke to yet Another monotone voiced , skin walker Sovereign employee who spoke to me like .. I was the dumb one .. very very Rude and ignorant, I told her I have a very bad heart condition and need the .. mould possible leak in my roof .. to be fixed as soon as possible but nothing but vile bull coming out of the skin walkers mouth . They must be taken to Task and criminal charges brought against them .. it’s beyond criminal the way they treat their tenants . I really really regret moving in to a sovereign property I really do , they don’t care about anyone but their own selfish interests. I now refuse point blank to speak to or engage with this Criminal enterprise called SNG . What a laugh they truly our

Terrible maintenance of properties

Have rented a garage from Sovereign for the last 9/10 years. 2 years ago reported a leaking roof, which was allegedly repaired. By the end of 2024 the water is pouring in through the roof again completely soaking the wooden beams and ply flat roof, and totally floodingit out ! Had to throw away lots of possessions do to rotting and water damage. Reported leak again in November sending videos and pictures showing how serious leak is. After more emails eventually got repair date of 30th June 2025, nearly 8 months after 1st reported. Have called to try to change date and told no others available. Have made a formal complaint but has made no difference. Absolute joke of a housing association.......Happy to take the rent every week but can't even maintain their properties

If I could I would choose 0 stars Hi I have had this issue with a leak in my baby's room since july last year so 6-7 months. I have had the worst experience ever with your company and I think you need a major change in customer experience. I have called multiple times only to be told the leak is not your responsibility and you can't to do anything about. It took months for me to persuade you that the leak was external and that it was your responsibility to fix as it only leaked when it rained. Every time I called during this period I would get told I will try to switch you to the person dealing with your case only to be ignored and never actually get through to them once over about 20 phone calls. Wasting alot of my time at work and at home. I always got told an internal message has been sent and I will have someone contact me after 10 days. I have been told that over about 20 times and I have never once been called back or updated. Only having to call back after 10 days to be told nothing new and to be ignored by the people dealing with the case. Then having to wait another 10 days again to wait for a response.

Finally after months We had scaffolding put up and down twice the first time it got put down before any issue was rectified. Then we had to wait like another 3 months before they put it back up again they have put the scaffolding down now and I haven't even been told if the fault has been rectified. I have had zero contact with anyone during this absolute mess of a job. We just had workers turn up to our house at 7:30 on a Saturday morning with no call or message to say they were even coming.

The scaffolding has now been put down and I tried calling again the other day to see if the leak has been fixed and I couldn't even get an answer. My baby now toddler this has went on so long. Has not even been able to sleep in her own bedroom yet has the sealing has been leaking for so long. Now if the leak is fixed I want my sealing fixed you cut out causing a massive draft in my house causing

Following on from previous box as not enough space -

So I have had to have the heating on even hotter this winter as the house gets freezing.

To resolve this complaint I am seeking compensation from all the stress and mental health problems you have caused me and my partner. And my child who can't even go in her room to sleep or play. I am also seeking compensation for the extra money I have had to spend this winter to keep the house warm as their is a massive draft from the hole in my sealing.

I have suffered from mental health issues since having to deal with this constantly for over 6 months. You have really affected my life and my family's life in a massive way. Affecting mine and my partners sleep also has my child still has to sleep in our room

This has been my worst experience ever and worst choice of my life. Moving into this flat. Supposed to be a happy time moving into you first property but I have had nothing but problems since the start I have had problems I mentioned on my defect list that just got ignored with I also thoyht with you for over a year. And also a leak in my flat which was mentioned on the defect list but never got resolved leaving my to have to get the work done myself.

In a nutshell you sovereign is the worst company I have ever dealt with and have zero customer care.

Can't wait to get told we will reply in 10 days and never get a response.

I didn't realise sovereign in the theasurus meant 'joke'

The bigger picture.

I've been a tenant in two properties over the last 16 years with Sovereign and to be honest think myself very lucky. As a housing provider, Sovererign are pretty astute in maintaining their properties and I for one am thankful that if a repair needs to be done , I am not paying for the priviledge of having a skilled tradesman sorting out the problem. Market rents are high, too high for people , single, one wage income to be able to afford, hence i consider myself to be lucky.

WORST LANDLORDS YOU COULD EVER HOPE TO HAVE

Zero stars. Reading ALL the many many complaints of this appalling organisation really shouldn't they just be struck off the charity register. My own dealings span 6 years of misery 10 leaks 3 ceilings down and years of neglect from Sovereign. One of their "trusted contractors" Rockfords Removals in Isle of Wight actually pushed me when evicting a tenant. Dont buy their properties, dont get involved in shared ownership and their leaking shoddy new builds. The Sovereign staff hide in their ivory tower in Basingstoke and are beyond unhelpful. No direct phone lines of contact. Say anything to fob you off and hide behind their corporate hierarchy. Avoid. Avoid.

Ask to fix property after Solicitors write to them

Housing property manager visits site agrees work need to be carried out. Contracts work to Westmead Ltd and makes home worse than before 2 weeks before Christmas.
Project manager reduced my wife to tears and I had to ask contractors to leave site after a one week job turns into a 2 week job and still not finished.
Now we have had to use money we don’t have to repair our home in time for Christmas at the cost of over £4000 because the work that has been done is leaking and things like bathroom sink held to wall with silicone, pipes connecting bath leaking as inadequate piping used, tiles not stuck on wall correctly and falling off.
Absolute nightmare and the company has only offered £1400 for the inconvenience they have caused.
Now I’m at the stage unless they pay for the repairs we have had to do ourselves and compensation for stress and loss of earnings. I will be heading to the housing ombudsman and the local MP for help. I have already explained after 7 years of leaks and flooding I am not prepared to have their teams fix the issues not one of their so called contractors who literally are cowboys.
Totally amazed after 21 years of being a tenant they can treat us this way!!!

Shoddy workmanship

0 stars because We have a leak in our roof for the past ten years we have had sovereign out several times saying the leak has been resolved which it hasn’t as the damp mark is getting bigger every year and also we require new windows as the ones we have are 30 years old, cracked around the edges, mold growing on the edges and condensation in between the glass panes they drilled little holes in our windows to help the condensation but it’s now 1000 times worse yet other houses that are younger are getting new windows why aren’t older houses it makes no sense I would advise everyone to never have a house owned by these idiots.

If 0 stars was an option, I'd pick it!

I moved into a brand new build with Sovereign in September 2022. My dream house, in the village that I grew up in. You can only imagine my excitement when move in day came, however unfortunately since then, I have had nothing but issues with this company.

Due to the poor prep of my garden, it floods every single time it rains. I contacted SNG about this 2 years ago, and I'm still waiting until this day for this to be sorted. The 'buildings insurance' they give you comes with an extortionate excess and covers basically nothing, but no policy wording has been sent, they advise a 10 working day turn around for replies however, every single time i contact them, I'm left waiting between a month and two months for a response. I am currently seeking legal action against this company due to them breaching Consumer Rights (reasonable time) so i hope this prompts a response, not to mention a whole list of other issues I've had with this company. I wish I never chose a Sovereign house and I don't reccomend them to anyone. As soon as you're in your house they dont care about you, unless its of course to raise your service charge that they dont even use! Save your money, time and mental health and avoid at all costs.

I moved into a sovereign housing…

I moved into a sovereign housing bungalow in 2017 loft infested with rats, sovereign eventually sent a pest control man but not after subjecting me to the "It's not sovereigns responsibility to deal with infestations it states in your tenancy agreement that it's up to the tenant to pay for a pest control man!" Diatribe..... repeated and repeated and repeated even though you have said "I MOVED INTO the infestation - therefore it's the landlords responsibility.... and who is the landlord?....oh Yeah- that would be SOVEREIGN housing!!!!" The infestations have never been stopped...ever since 2017- I have been subjected to rats crawling around and scratching directly above my head where I lay my head in bed!! Every single year I've been subjected to hearing the customer service agents bark "it states in the tenancy agreement bla bla bla bla.... and while you're hearing this you are SEETHING... thinking "They actually expect someone on universal credit to pay for their failings, and pay hundreds of pounds for pest control?! If your landlord has holes in the property....access for rodents to get into the loft...How the hell is that the tenant's responsibility?!! Why should we pay for that?! Are they sick and twisted??? Having infestations every single year because their pest control teams are not thorough enough,or sovereign drag their feet responding when you point out that you have seen a hole.... they wait.... wait.... wait.... and TOO LATE!!! Another rat has got in! And I recommend that no one should contact environmental health officers especially the hat man....he barked at me "it's in the tenancy agreement that it is not the responsibility of sovereign to deal with infestations and they've gone above and beyond for you!!" And barked arrogantly pontificating relentlessly....a man that enjoys disagreeing with whatever you say...yes!- you know that obnoxious type!
The torture isn't just hearing the rats directly above your head, but being subjected the torture of hearing soulless less than humans barking "It states in the tenancy agreement...."It states in the tenancy agreement...." " It states in the tenancy agreement....." Let's all sing that obnoxious song together shall we!! " It states in the tenancy agreement.... and my addendum in this song.... just to spice it up a touch - is: I moved into an infestation - I've been subjected to infestations since 2017- I'm on universal credit!- this property isn't secure - that's sovereigns responsibility!- not mine! If sovereign can't stop rats getting in - how is that the tenants responsibility! How about I sue you for mental torture you soulless etc etc

It is absolutely horrible

It is absolutely horrible. You’ll have to beg for something to be done if anyone even picks up the phone. Unless it’s something coming out of their end, like an inspection or their stupid check they do to be able to charge you even more rent, then you have to be at home whenever they tell you, you must use your holiday at work because they only can do dates that suit them. No matter that you obv have to work and have your own life.
Then you book this holiday, stay at home all day because obv they can’t tell you the actual time, it will be something from 8:30-16:00 so you wait and wait and there it is another no show!
All they do is just leave another note in your post informing you about another check they need to carry and you have to book it.

Most of the people on their phone line are rude and treat you like you’re their slave and must do as they say. I tried to explain it to the lady on the phone that I can’t keep taking holidays at work for them to carry their checks, the we have to find a date that suits us both. I’ve reported the same mould issue last year and no one cared, I had to buy paint and everything to stop the mould coming out and paint it myself! But now when it comes to increasing the rent, they can’t wait a few weeks longer to book an appointment and deal with it. When I have waited with the same issue for over a year, now it must be done when they say.
Horrible horrible service, the ‘lady’ on the phone made me cry, didn’t listen to what I was saying, she just booked an appointment for the date I told her no one’s going to be at home.

If you get to book a repair the people that come are usually very nice and professional, I can’t complain about that. But this are the people from other companies who don’t work for sovereign.
Some people on the phone are nice and polite, sadly this are the people who will have to take all off your issues at once because you don’t often get a chance to talk to someone normal there.
The flat itself is okay if you take good care of it as like it was your own, everything will be fine. As long as you have to ask sovereign for help… I try to fix whatever I can myself just so I don’t have to deal with them sovereign housing association.

Do not care about their leaseholders

Do not care about their leaseholders, happy to take their money and constantly put up service charges in a house so not even sure what I am even paying these for? No contact made when you try and ask questions. If you are a shared owner you have to ask permission for everything when actual tenants of soverign seem to be able to do more to their property than us leaseholders! Shamble of a housing provider.
