Best online Spanish content
Best online Spanish content. Learned much more from Paul then LCN in Medellin which was required for my visa.
it's okay
it's okay, but lots of typos that can be misleading. The big problem is that it expires and you are unable to see the information that you paid for. If I've bought it, I want to keep it. I want to learn at my own pace and be able to review it in the future.
I purchased Spanish with Paul, But they got my $ & Ghosted me!!
I purchased Spanish with Paul exited to learn, but my experience with their customer support is Appalling to say the least. I am extremely frustrated & disappointed. I reached out to Paul several times in the last 5 months with a simple question about the course I’m on level 3. After multiple emails with no response, I sent a follow up expressing my frustration as a paying customer who wants clarification. STILL NO REPLY! To test the situation, I used a different email to inquiry about buying the course- and I received a response within a few hours! When I said that I was already a paying customer & gave them my account information, they stopped responding and ignored me. This level of customer service is unprofessional & Unacceptable. I paid for this course in good faith & expected at least a basic level of support. I’m posting this so other are aware of this issue before purchasing! I HOPE THAT PAUL & HIS COMPANY TAKE RESPONSIBILITY & IMPROVE THIS COMMUNICATION
I think it is a very dishonest money…
I think it is a very dishonest money trap. You will get bombarded with emails to buy yet another new addition and then in case you don’t manage to finish your payed course in time, they will just cut you off and suggest you buy it again!
Disgraceful business practices
I actually do like the content of Spanish with Paul and I have bought 3 courses. I should have known after the first one that their DESPICABLE business practices would make me sick. During a year, a lot can happen. I never finished any of them because in life S*** happens. Death, illness, caretaking, work etc. that prevent people from being on schedule according to SWP. I will NEvER spend another cent on this scam. I would have remained a great customer if not for the disgusting subscription nonsense. I’m glad other agree, I hope they wise up but that kind of disregard for customers is unlikely to change.
Disappointed customer..
Disappointed customer..
Oh, where to begin with the dazzlingly unprofessional 'Spanish with Paul' course? Let’s start with the sheer brilliance of their email policy. Yes, you read that right—they simply don’t reply to emails. Genius, isn't it? I had the audacity to ask a few questions about the Spanish lessons, I thought clarity was important. But no, they just couldn’t be bothered.
And get this—they selectively answer emails. Yes, exactly what you think. They only respond to the ones they want. So if your learning needs fall outside their limited expertise, tough luck!
Now, brace yourself for the pièce de résistance: the course itself. You’ve got one glorious year to finish the Premium course, which, in a masterstroke of marketing, started at $199. But wait! They generously drop the price to $99 in an email later on. A clear sign of the high esteem in which they hold their own product, don’t you think? So, it’s crystal clear where they’re heading. Straight to the bargain bin.
I recommend using madrigals
I recommend using madrigals. I tried language transfer, and another course.
Paul provides excellent structure. Lots of homework but sometimes it was wrong . But way too complicated near chapter 6 and 7. plus your not going to say all
this stuff.
Using it during my cancer recovery so I put in 250 hours so far and starting 7.2
Best course I’ve found to learn Spanish
I’ve tried multiple courses to learn Spanish and by far this one is the best. I’m much more confident now that I know what I’m saying, and have learned a ton in less than six months. That said, like most programs, it is not comprehensive. If you want to become fluent, you need to watch Spanish tv programs, listen to Spanish podcasts, news, or YouTube videos, speak to people in Spanish, etc. Paul reinforces that idea throughout the course and he is right. Learning a language is difficult and it’s a commitment. This course will give you a great foundation and the confidence to start speaking and understanding, but you have to do more than just watch his slides to become fluent.
I can’t comment on the customer service experience because I haven’t had any interaction with it.
My only complaints are that occasionally the slides are glitchy, which is annoying, the platform is very basic, and I agree with others about the constant stream of marketing emails. But there’s a simple fix for that one: unsubscribe.
Subscription circus act
Course until he takes them away from you even before you finish them. I asked for them back but get no reply. Don’t buy!
P.S
I've been on a delightful rollercoaster ride with "Spanish with Paul". Picture this: I bought the program, I was notified that my subscription had expired, resulting in the closure of my account, and only to be met with an echoing silence. Meanwhile, my inbox became a digital jungle, overrun with a constant barrage of offers for more of Paul's "unmissable" programs. It's like he's taken up residence in my email, pitching his wares like a relentless door-to-door salesman.
So, today, feeling somewhat masochistic, I thought I'd dive back into the chaos and start my lessons. Lo and behold, what do I find? My lessons have expired! And oh, what luck, there's a shiny new offer waiting for me to renew – at a "discounted" price, no less. Well, isn't that just peachy? After being ghosted and ignored, they expect me to happily fork over more cash. But as for lining Paul's pockets with your hard-earned cash? Save yourself the trouble.
The pace seemed haphazard and…
The pace seemed haphazard and redundant. I kept having to repeat the lessons while ignoring errors in the screen text. At times, the lessons seemed to go around in circles... I tried to put in a set amount of time each day, but some of the classes were too short, while others seemed to go on and on, and I had to bail out. Finding my way back to where I stopped was another frustration. I got halfway through the $99 course when it "expired," and I was expected to pay another $199 to continue. NOT A CHANCE! There were times when I couldn't log in. I never even got a chance to OPEN the upsell $49 "bonus" course that was pushed when I was buying. In all, it was a disappointment. The free YouTube classes are much more organized than the paid course. I wish I had seen the ratings before wasting my money.
I have requested a refund several times…
I have requested a refund several times shortly after I purchased the program, with no answers. I have had a multitude of other offers for different programs that
Spanish with Paul has flooded my email on a daily or weekly basis. I just went in to start my lessons only to see that they expired and offered a discounted renewal price to get my program back, I mean I finally gave in because of no answer or refund and it is gone. His YouTube is much better and free, I would give it 5 stars, but don't give him any money for any other source of his lessons.
Their is a company that uses fraud to sell their products.
I recently bought a 2nd program as my first one expired. We were told it was new, updated material. Turns out it wasn't. They are using the exact same program and simply saying it's been updated. That is FRAUD. When I confronted them about this fraud, they did refund my money. I'm a clinical psychologist and have don't typically left a review on line. I wanted the public to be aware of their unethical behavior.
It’s ok
It’s ok, but it expires. The worst part is that you get swamped with offers for additional courses. I bought a few, which were terrible and served only to sour me on the whole experience. I decided to just let it expire.
Good, but flawed
I've used several courses in the Spanish with Paul collection. The main course is excellent, though marred with typos which can be very misleading. Some reviewers say it's boring: well, languages are hard work, so I don't mind that it can be grind. My main complaint is with his vocabulary course which claims to give you 5,000 words but comes in at 3,750. This is fraudulent. Again, its a pretty good, course, but it is very flawed in that many of the example sentences it gives you for specific words provide almost no context for the words, and so offer little memory help. Also, there is still the typo problem, especially misleading with accent marks. On the whole, I believe that I've gotten my money's worth, but there is some frustration here, the need to check spellings and accents out with Spanish Dict, and anger, frankly, at the dishonesty regarding the vocab course.
Overall this is a Goodish course with good content.
Overall this is a good course with lots of content. I'd give it 3.5 * I've recently took this course for a second time, with a two year break, as I understood it to be updated - well, it's more or less the same, aside from a Spanish speaker rattling off some questions at the end each of the modules, which didn't overly impress me too much. Nevertheless, Paul is a good teacher and he's very easy to understand. and certainly knows his subject - All obvious pluses and the course when on offer is cheap. The drills can be overly long and tedious. and just looking at writing on a white screen for hours on end is quite boring too. The course greatly lacks colour, variety and a bit of humour wouldn't go a miss as Paul is very dead pan, though he certainly has a great teaching voice. With a bit more thought on the visual side this course could have easily been be a 4* rating. Doing this course WILL NOT make you Spanish Fluent. Spanish children study English at school from 6 - 16 and longer if they want to. It takes a long time to master a language and you have to build up a lot of vocab.' You don't learn too much in terms of reading or writing skills on this course but the vocabulary learning paragraphs are above intermediary level and quite stretching. But, I would still say do it, as it gives you a good foundation in your overall learning process. Quite why he spends nearly all of module 9 on the various Subjunctive tenses is not only totally over the top but rather self indulgent I would say? And frankly not required in its entirety.
I consider myself to be an intermediary and I whipped through this course in about 4 weeks - though I only did the basic Subjunctive and ignored the rest - Like I'm ever going to need that?
So , I would say that overall, this is set at an 'intermediary' level and then it's up to you to improve on that over time. I've been learning Spanish, on and off for 4 years now and I'm still not very fluent and still can't understand what Spanish people are saying back to me in their longer sentences . as it's just too quick for my ear! So... it all takes a while! I think that this course is a good starting point for anyone.
Very good course to follow and…
Very good course to follow and understand. My wife and I have been following the course most days and then repeating so we can fully absorb our Spainish.
Lacklustre
The content is there but it is mind numbingly boring. It's very expensive too and you can't download it to listen to offline. The promised direct access to Paul, access to native Spanish speakers and an ultra modern members area are pure bs, they don't exist. Also you constantly receive emails trying to sell more content.
There are way better, cheaper options out there.
Deception with a whiff of bait-and-switch
The marketing involves elements deception and comes with a strong whiff of bait-and-switch. The promotional material claims his basic course will take you to "conversational fluency," but soon after paying for the course I received an ad saying the course would only teach you how to construct sentences but would not provide you with sufficient vocabulary. For that vocabulary you need to pay for yet another course. I felt like a rube being taken for a ride by a con artist.
Well, if "conversational fluency" doesn't imply adequate vocabulary, what then does it mean? I asked them that and told them I thought I might want a refund. I got it. Quickly and without question. Of course, at that time I'd only logged on to create an account after the purchase and hadn't yet taken even the first lesson. Maybe they felt they hadn't lost anything, but at least the refund was fast. Now, where do I go to learn Spanish? DuoLingo is tedious and repetitive.
Paul is a blessing compaired to other poorly organized courses.
Pauls courses are
very well organized and
typed!! (Thank god what a revolutionary idea -no unreadable scribble !) With Paul one hears the concept, and sees the concept written on the screen AT THE SAME TIME another revolutionary idea!!!
Other rival courses in comparison are so amateurish -they present concepts using poor hand writing with markers nearly dry. I guess the other courses can not afford new markers. Also Paul does not stand in front of the white board to tick you off.
Paul presents concepts using the chunk method gradually supplementing it with a lot of repetition so you slowly get the idea and know if you truly understand.
Best Spanish lessons by far
I’ve been trying to study Spanish for years! I’ve spent well over $1,500. on Spanish CD’s or downloaded from top companies. Paul explains everything so much better!! I actually enjoy studying! I highly recommend his lessons!!
