Serious design faults and injury caused by Spotlight toothbrush

I had my previous sonic toothbrush for many years (still going strong) and kept the one before as a spare (also still going strong). My daughter has also had hers for years, just replacing the head. I go to the dental hygienist regularly and she recommending upgrading my toothbrush in line with recent advances. She recommended a well known brand but I was swayed to Spotlight after reading all the blogs and reviews online. When I first got it, the whitening option seemed good and my teeth felt very clean. However, there are major design faults and issues that I will try to fairly outline. 1. The dental hygienist noticed a negative change rather than positive after starting with this brush, albeit only after around 4 weeks use. 2. To my horror, the head cracked in two and bristles fell out during use - with absolutely no pressure applied. I had a mouthful of bristles and swallowed some, leaving me choking and with some injury for a few days 3. After taking off the head, which many have reported is difficult, it was impossible to fit a new head - also a known fault. Customers services responded to my daughter writing to them (after a week of futile attempts to fit the head) instructing her to use small pliers to move a metal part to align the head. Seriously?! Imagine somebody elderly or arthritic with this brush? Apart from being hugely inconvenient, this tip didn't work. Now Spotlight offered to replace this brush, which is still very new. However, it's clear from other reviews that similar faults are being reported by others. I don't expect to be injured brushing my teeth or to require a toolkit to replace the head, when the head was brand new anyway and broke due to another fault. I await their response and in the meantime am back having to use my old faithful brush and substantially out of pocket. Spotlight need to offer a clear refund policy for these faults and really get to work on their product quality and safety checks.

My sonic toothbrush malfunctioned after…

My sonic toothbrush malfunctioned after I went on holidays.

I emailed customer service & had a reply about 8 hours later. Jessica was the ladies name and god was she helpful.

Replying to emails out of working hours and doing her utmost to resolve the problem. I am posting back my old brush and Jessica has sent me out a replacement.

Bravo!!!!

Nothing like Crest whitening strips.

Absolute waste of money. I have used the Crest Teeth Whitening strips in the past and had brilliant results after the second or third strip. These on the other hand haven't done a thing, no change whatsoever after using them for two weeks daily. Not even the slightest difference.

Rubbish water flosser

I usually don’t leave reviews even if I had a bad experience but this time I feel that I need to warn people not to waste their money of this product.
Purchased the water flosser from another website and after 6 months it stopped charging because the water/ humidity in some way gets into the charging plot even if is covered.Contact the customer service to be told that I have to return it to the website I purchased the product from even if is still in warranty with them.They need to take some customer service lessons from Apple that every single time you have a problem with their products( still in warranty) will deal with that straight away no matter where did you bought their products from .Definitely a GAP in their customer service and a rubbish product.

COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY

The teeth whitening pen was a complete waste of money. Their infomercials show brushing it on and immediately seeing a clear difference then several applications later very white teeth. My teeth are not bad. I just wanted a fresher look. And I certainly didn’t expect their results. But I did expect a change for the better. Didn’t happen. Not even a slight difference. They got in my pocket this time but it won’t happen again. They’ve got the marketing down just not the product 🤬

Dont waste your money - low quality product

I purchased a sonic toothbrush around two months ago and the base has already cracked - I think it fell in the sink. When I contacted customer service (jessica) I was told there was nothing they could do.

Incredibly shoddy product - I have oral B toothbrushes that have lasted 2-3 years

I purchased one of the toothbrushes for myself

I purchased one of the toothbrushes as it had good reviews but it came damaged and I contacted them they asked for photo I sent it and the reply was “ well it was fine when we posted it “ and that’s it so I waited for something to put in the bin. My advice would be keep away customer care shocking, I am disabled and needed that toothbrush now have to stick to old one.

Cannot fault the customer service

Cannot fault the customer service. My sonic brush stopped working after 3 months. Contacted them via email,within an hour they confirmed they would send me a replacement brush, I received it the following day.

Absolutely useless.

These are rubbish no change at all despite following the instructions carefully. Definitely doesn't do what it says on the tin.

False claims and waste of money

I wanted to whiten my teeth a little bit I didn't want to dazzle anybody, I just wanted them a little bit brighter - so my dentist told me to get Oral-B whitening strips. My teeth are in great condition by the way apart from a very slight yellowing.

However after seeing this product and the fact it was vegan and cruelty free I decided to buy the 14 day kit. I read all about the kit on the website and I followed the instructions TO THE LETTER, but my teeth didn't change even slightly. I am very disappointed that I have spent my hard earned cash on a product which is useless.

"Clinically proven" it says, "will whiten and brighten" it says, emphasis here on the "will". Clearly untrue and false advertising.
When I complained I got a waffling email about how it varies on different people? Vary? it doesn't work at all. Then they suggested I buy another box - nice try. Oh and not forgetting avoiding coffee smoking red wine etc, nope do not have any of those.
I should have listened to my dentist!

Appalling thing

Appalling thing! I have had it three days and cannot make head or tail of it. The instructions that come with it are dreadful and make no sense. I had to ring their office where I was advised to watch a YouTube video on how to use it. It is extremely cumbersome. Where are you supposed to hold it? It makes the most appalling mess all over the bathroom. It starts off at high pressure, not at low pressure, so you can see nothing cos if you try you get it in your face. The girl working from home for the company told me it's a design fault. She said it slides easily. It certainly does not. The instruction say slide it apart but it's impossible unless you release pressure by opening the water tank. It says don't get water in the charging jack. Are they being funny, there is water everywhere, all over me, all over my bathroom, all down my arms. Absolutely the most dreadful thing ever. I have given it three days. It is getting no better, no easier, no less cumbersome, it's a truly hideous thing. I want my money refunded. It seems the cost of this thing is it's way OTT packaging, cos the machine itself is a nightmare!

I was so disappointed and frustrated…

I was so disappointed and frustrated with the Spotlight water flosser. I have had it a couple of months and would not recommend it. It is very rare for this to work properly and I find it very frustrating because when you get it to actually work, I can see how good it is. To use it you have to extend the chamber, well I'd recommend being very careful as it creates a suction where it is stuck then comes flying off with the force you have to use. Once that's done you full the chamber and off you go however, after a very short time the water flow stops and you realise the chamber isn't moving up and gets stuck. This happens about 3 times each time I use it.
Lots of great reviews but in my opinion it's not well made. Either that or I got a duff one. Shame.

Never received my order

I’ve used Spotlight Oral Cosmetics before so I know the products are great, but I ordered over a month ago and still haven’t received my order. I wrote after a few weeks to ask what happened, to which customer service told me they would resend the products. A week since that I have not been sent any shipping details to confirm if they actually did reorder them. Customer service gave me a uninformative response when I asked and I’m still none the wiser if I’ll ever receive my order. So while I recommend Spotlight Oral Cosmetic products, I would suggest NOT buying direct.

Brilliant brush but by God the spam

I ordered a toothbrush on 4th November. It's now 22nd November and it's still not been dispatched. When I contacted Customer Services on 12th November they assured me it would be dispatched 'soon'.

Since then I've been spammed by the company what seems like every other day, trying to get me to buy other items. I've even had an email telling me how to use the brush I've never received.

I ordered the brush because it was rated very highly by review sites but I'm really starting to regret I ordered it. If it doesn't arrive within the next week I'm going to look at applying for a chargeback on my card. It's unacceptable to treat customers this way.

Edit: the toothbrush finally arrived today and, you know what, it's actually a brilliant brush. So 4 stars, great product but terrible comms and delivery speed.

Great customer service

I can't comment on the toothpaste just yet as I only received it today. What I can comment on is the customer service that I received. I had an issue with my order and emailed the company. Within minutes Fiona emailed me back and continued to help me resolve the issue. Some of my order is not in stock just yet but I needed a toothbrush for a present for my son. Fiona said she would sort it out for me. I was emailing her in the afternoon and this morning I received the toothbrush in the post. Based on the prompt customer service I received from Fiona I would be happy to recommend Spotlight to family and friends.

I honestly cannot say enough good things about this company.

Especially the customer service. Fiona and Jessica have been absolutely amazing, thank you!

As for the products they speak for themselves.
I have been using Spotlight Oral Care toothpaste for a good few years now, therefore I think I’m in a good place to provide feedback given the timeframe.

I’ve used their whitening toothpaste which I’m personally a massive fan of!
Oh and I Love the Lip Treatment I received in one of the Christmas sets.
Thankyou Fiona for helping me with these!

I’ve also along with my family members and a few friends, used their
Spotlight Oral Care Mouthwash, the toothpaste for Decay, teeth rebuilding toothpaste as well as the one for Gum Health.

I can honestly attest to their products as being amazing! During lockdown as we all know couldn’t get to a dentist and the teeth rebuilding toothpaste was a lifesaver for my partner.
My sister was also ever so grateful for the recommended toothpaste which helped with toothache.

I’ve recommended their bamboo toothbrushes and toothpaste to family, and sent a few for gifts. Gift giving is easy now.

I’ve only just recently purchased their Sonic Toothbrush with a fabulous discount, and I’m sure I shall love this Toothbrush as much as all their other products I have loved!

As for their customer service it’s exceptional! They definitely know how to take care of their customers.
They never leave you in the lurch, always reply to emails promptly and are more than helpful beyond belief!
I just wish all companies held their high standard of customer service.

I have never used any other toothpaste again nor have I had to.
I have recommended Spotlight Oral Care products to friends and family who have been more than grateful for the recommendations.

Oh and I was pleasantly surprised to find the kids toothpaste. Which I recommended to my siblings and friends for their children.

Our teeth have never been better!

Very poor. Impossible to return the item.

Very poor. Impossible to return the item if you're not satisfied with it, despite legally imposed remote selling guarantees!
I bought a Spotlight Oral Care Sonic Toothbrush via their website. The purchase link took me to the jusmylook.com website, where I completed the purchase. The toothbrush and accessories arrived in a box, sealed with a clear plastic wrap, like most things do now. If you break this wrap - as you HAVE TO, to even see, let alone check your product, you are deemed to have broken the 'hygiene seal' and therefore JustMyLook will REFUSE to take it back, even in you've not used it! Spotlight themselves simply wash their hands of the situation, saying that they can DO NOTHING, as you have not bought from them. They deny that they put sales links from other companies on their website, but that's where I initially clicked to buy this.
Their toothbrush may be exactly what you want, in which case, no problem, but for me, I wasn't happy with the really TINY HEAD and the total length of it (about 25cm - too long to fit in my bathroom cupboard).
Now I'm left with a £100+ toothbrush that I don't want and CAN'T return for a refund.
So, if you want one of these, MAKE SURE it's what you want, as once you've opened the outer packaging, they will NOT take it back!
