Here is my latest update on Sure Payroll
Here is my latest update on the ongoing Sure Payroll issues since Nov 2025. After dozens of phone calls and promises of taking care of this The Unemployment filed a business lien on my business. This after Sure payroll had filed but did not make the payment. Now after the first and second qtr 2025 correct filing and then somehow not being able to file third quarter they have now filed and instead of making the payment they sent me a note saying they needed a PIN Number from the state. I had one simple question which has been my question every time since last November. Why now do you need this after all had been fine until qtr 3 and now that all are filed? No one can answer the question even after yet 3 more commitments to do so. They put customer service on the line while senior management and the departments responsible hide and do not take calls. I went and paid the money taking yet more of my time. 7 MONTHS and no resolution. This is the third year with Sure Payroll with each year having major issues. I have over the three years over $ 2000 of MY TIME continuing to call them with no resolve just more delays and promises that are never kept. Nothing but problems Stay away. BTW they are owned by Paychex and I see they have similar complaints. What a surprise
Incorrect Withholding Every Year
I am an employee of an employer who uses SurePayroll. Every single year my tax withholding is wrong. My employer blames SurePayroll. They insist they are correctly withholding even when I can clearly see on the tax tables that they are not. This time they completely failed to withhold any local taxes (several hundred dollars every month) for 8 months randomly after previously correctly withholding the local taxes. My pay fluctuates monthly due to reimbursements so I didn't notice their error. Now I owe several thousand dollars in taxes, plus penalties and interest, and my State tax return was rejected, because they can't do their job right. This is not the first year their withholding has been a problem. Every year it's just a different problem.
There's no customer service for employees. You can't do anything or talk to anyone without your employer being on the line. So if you work for an employer who isn't helpful and thinks it isn't their problem, you're just screwed. I will never work for a company that uses SurePayroll again. Filing them right up there next to "use of Microsoft software" as reasons not to accept a job.
SurePayroll user-friendly and budget-friendly!
SurePayroll has been easy to set up, the software is user friendly and payroll approval process is simple and quick. I find the fees to be much less then other companies which I called. I love it and highly recommend it.

Easy to use
Easy to use. Not really understanding whats going on with unemployment, as its not coming out with an umeployment number. Great to view reports and employees seem to be good with the service.
Great option for small non-profit with few staff
As the founder of a small non-profit, we are finally able to hire one paid staff member, so we found out from other reviews how great SurePayroll is. We knew nothing about setting up payroll and what we needed from our state, and the staff was incredibly supportive, knowledgable and helped us get completely set up, and very quickly. They walked us through our first payroll entry and it's incredibly easy and intuitive to use.
They don't respond on time
They don't respond on time, have to follow up multiple times, and they don't let you switch states easily.
Dishonest billing practices
Dishonest billing practices. No mention during sign up that there are huge end of year charges. We don't work with dishonest companies.

Dylan walked me through the enrollment process and was a true servant heart. More wonderful is how seamless this process is. I am now set for auto payroll. I do not need to do anything and it executes perfectly. Wow.
I’m not liking that employees…
I’m not liking that employees healthcare, or childcare cost, uniform or other work related deduction cannot be deposited into our company 2nd account. This complicates our accounting records.
Unreliable in Fixing Any Issue
Current customer for both payroll and 401K. Completely fine with 401K team no issues there even with making changes. Moved states - multiples times working with customer support had no resolution on the same issue (every time I get a different answer from the company) over 6 months.
Moved from New York to Florida. With regards to Florida State SUI. Some representatives have told me to take no action, others have said the company will handle it, some have said that I am responsible for it. While the amount is small, as a business owner it constantly is stressful and worrying and time consuming.
I also filed a BBB compliant as well other issues that compounded this from there side. Frankly this is unacceptable for any business.
Matthew deserves a raise
Matthew was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. He assisted me on the phone while filling out forms and creating accounts on the government websites. He sent me links to exactly where I needed to go. He was patient in helping set up exactly what I wanted my withholding to be, and it came out exactly to what I wanted to the cent.
I am not the type of person to leave reviews, but this may have been the best customer experience I have ever had. 10 out of 10 would recommend SurePayroll to everyone who needs payroll & withholding assistance.

Misled - Not for Visa Workers
When I purchased this product, I verified that I would be able to pay my J1 students that I could just call and get the SSN and Taxes overridden. In entering my first Non-Resident worker, I was told by 3 different CSR's this was not the case and could not happen. Then I received an email stating that if I provided a VISA copy that it could be overridden by a supervisor. Now today again, I am told this is not so. Sure Payroll teams need to get their facts straight. As I was sold a product I cannot use.
Loves this payroll company
Loves this payroll company. Very affordable and works with the ups and downs of being an owner. I've been using them for a very long time. Tried many others. And I always come back to this company. I honestly don't have no negative to share. App could improve other than that that's it. Awsome customer service. Any time I need help willing to help. I'm going to try their IRA I'm getting excited about it.
Poor customer service, hidden costs
Poor customer service, especially for the price. Difficult to navigate any issues that come up (but don't worry, there is an extra fee for that!). Upon severing services, incomplete explanation of expectations and costly ending fees. Would NOT recommend.
This company continues to take funds…
This company continues to take funds from my bank account but does not allow me to process payroll. It has been a month since i last reached out, the rep asked for more info from bank approx 2-3 weeks from last contact . Which I did provide on 2/25/26 today is 3/3/26 and still unable to provide payroll. UNEXCEPTABLE!!!! I will be looking for another payroll service
