Synchrony Bank uses deceptive business…
Synchrony Bank uses deceptive business practices, they lower min payments on deferred interest loans and they do not send out advance notice of interest charges, even when you are signed up for notifications. They are the worst to deal with and show no care for their customers. I will NEVER do business with any merchant that uses Synchrony Bank ever again! As someone who always pays their debt, has an excellent credit rating, they got me and I did not catch it! Shame on me, my fault here, but other banks give you a "heads up" via emails (and not just small print on a statement). Those are the banks who actually care about the consumer!

I wish I could give them no stars!! Worse bank on the planet!! Had a pretty high available balance for credit.. almost paid off.. reduced my available credit by more than half! Instead of $1.237.67 in available credit with a balance of $511. I now have a credit limit of $611 with an available balance of $18.
These people are terrible
These people are terrible. Granted due to some financial issues I fell behind on some of my accounts with this company. But I did remain current on most of my accounts and had little or no balance on accounts. Then out of the blue and no notice they closed my current accounts. Once I recover from my issues I will never do business with them again and do not recommend any products they offer

I had an overpayment on my account thinking I would get a refund check, but I was charged interest on the overpayment, the account was paid in full 10 days before my due date, this company is GREEDY!!!!
Unknown charges
I pay off my balance every month on time. I recently went out of town and racked up my charges. However, I noticed a $2 charge I did not make. I called and the agent spoke to me like I was a child! I complained and she insisted on speaking over me and never offered to remove the charge! I don’t care if it’s .50, I should NEVER have to pay for a charge I didn’t make!!!! I had to call back to speak to a supervisor that removed the charge! Customer service is key!!!
Im a great customer never late
Im a great customer never late, have two cards, one care credit and one tj max. Both of these cards they reduced my credit limit, just like that. Three months later I get a notice they closed my account from a one month lower credit score because I had high usage on my other cards but never late. They didn't check again in a week where I paid off all my credit cards including their's and my score went up tremendously. They do not think twice in what they do. I will never do business them again.

Every synchrony account i have is either reducing my credit limits or closing accounts due to reporting agencies. My situation is almost identical to when the accounts where opened. And I pay more than the minimum payment. I did have about 3 late payments by 1-3 days over the course of about 4 years but never fully skipped a payment and paid the punishment fees. This bank is a joke and should just shut down.
Get syncrony before they get you.
I had a balance on my credit cards and once I fully paid off the balance of $3000 or so, they immediately reduced my credit limit to $110 on my PayPal credit card. My Verizon card had the same thing happen. I paid them off the same day and then that account was reduced to $200 after it took 8 days for the payment to clear. I was wondering what was going on and they told me it was my bank that was taking so long. Then they basically closed my account. I recommend using a debt consolidation plan with Syncrony because they essentially closed my account anyway. I could have saved money if I had went delinquent and cut a deal to pay it off through another company. In both cases the account will be closed but with a debt consolidation plan I would have not had to pay the full balance.
Worst company EVER
They gave me like a $2000 line of credit. I used like $1500. Then within 6 months paid it off completely. The day I paid it off, BAM $100 limit! I was MAD! I kept the card. I have had it for like 10 years. Slowly they bumped me up to like $300. Then suddenly last year $3000. Now mind you, my credit was high 600 range. I ran into some medical issues and only used that card to track it. Used about $1650. Yesterday I paid them off. BAM again! $100 limit and told me they had sent me a letter that they were going to do that. Because I contacted them and told them they were a terrible company! Liars too! The letter showed up in my email right after I contacted them! I saved it! I am reporting them to BBB!

The Big Problem With Synchrony Bank
Synchrony Bank has been extremely frustrating to deal with. They are quick to approve large credit limits, but they are also quick to reduce those limits or close accounts if you do not use the card enough or if you pay it off too consistently. That makes no sense to me.
In my case, having a card with a $5,000 limit and no balance should have been a positive thing. Instead, when the account was suddenly closed for no clear reason, it hurt my overall available credit and increased my utilization, which negatively impacted my credit score. Customers should not be punished for using credit responsibly.
This kind of behavior seems to be a pattern with Synchrony, and it feels unfair. Approving large limits so easily and then taking them away just as quickly creates unnecessary harm for customers who are doing the right thing.
If you want it to hit even harder, here is a slightly sharper version:
Synchrony Bank is quick to hand out large credit limits, but just as quick to reduce them or close accounts when you do not use the card enough or when you pay it off responsibly. That is exactly what happened to me, and it is incredibly frustrating.
Closing or cutting a $5,000 account with no balance for no obvious reason does real damage. It reduces available credit, increases utilization, and can hurt a customer’s credit score even though they have done nothing wrong. Responsible cardholders should not be penalized for keeping balances low or paid off.
This seems to be very consistent with Synchrony, and it does not make sense. Their practices feel unfair and harmful to customers who are trying to manage credit wisely.

Terrible! I applied for a credit card that’s through this bank. I was told numerous times that they can’t help me because my credit account was frozen. I have been on the phone with all three credit bureaus and my credit report is not frozen. I even went online and verified this. I would have liked to have had this credit card, but it’s not worth the hassle!!! Does anybody know what they’re doing there?????
I will never get a store credit card…
I will never get a store credit card backed by Synchrony. I have never been late with any of my payments but 4 times in the last 2 years they either suddenly close out an account or cut the credit line to just above your balance owing. This trashes your credit score as your "credit utilization" goes to like 96% causing your credit score to take a huge hit. Never had any accounts closed or reduced credit lines with any other provider...Just with Synchrony. horrible company to do business with. Avoid at all costs

I am a single mom, a nurse, my daughter is 35 and married she is my whole life I am furthering med career and am sick with type of cancer yet all my bills ALWAYS PAID ON TIME I HAD A SHOPHQ CC THEY CLOSED AND SENT A LETTER STATING CC IS CLOSED BUT I OWED $400 so I still paid monthly THEN AFTER CC CLOSED 4 months I WAS F CHARGED 155%!!!!! So I had f owed under $400 NOW WAS $700!!!!! I fought I notified EXPERIAN TRANSUNION AND OTHER CREDIT BUREAU I TOLD SYNCHRONY!!!!! They tried to say some bs of an agreement THAT NEVER HAPPENED IN YEAR PRIOR!!!!!!! THE F ACCOUNT HAD BEEN CLOSED FOUR MONTHS YOU CANT JUST TACK ON MORE F MONEY BECAUSW YOU FEEL LIKE IT AND WAS A TOTAL LIE!!!!! An employee of Synchrony bank who had access to my signing information got their feeling hurt by me and call synchronic bank pretending to be me and closed two of my credit cards. Upper management would not confirm this, told me they would listen to the call of the person (I say employee) pretending to be me conversation. Amazon and Carecredit cards were reinstated and force them to send retraction to the three credit bureaus. Thanks ceos using out of the country agents

Did everything right made payment and completed them all until the made up a payment after I turned off auto pay closed my account and doubled charged me. Amazon should feel disgusted for dealing with these people!!! I am so pissed
Very poor customer service.
This company has the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in my life. One payment was missed from my account and $41.00 plus interest was added to my balance plus other fees. I put my auto pay set to a specific amount and they took out a double payment. I’ve been calling every week and no success. The manager just talks in circles saying the same rehearsed phrase over and over again. Save your time and money and do not use them. You will thank me later.
