My mother just passed away last month…

My mother just passed away last month and I had to cancel my flight with Tarom air. I filed a return claim with them and didn't hear anything back. I even uploaded a death certificate but no response at all. What a terrible company!

Rude, rude, rude

Nothing from the console provided on board actually functioned. Incredibly rude staff which pretty much forced my drink out of my hand out of the blue, I had a Pepsi cola in a paper cup from Burger King, they took it away from me and made fun of me at the same time because I wanted to keep drinking from it. Told me with a grin on their faces that I should instead prepare for landing, as if I wasn't already prepared enough. It's my second time traveling with Tarom, hopefully the very last.

Me dejaron atrapado en Rumanía con mi mujer y mi bebé

Primer vuelo con ellos, casi dos horas de retraso. Segundo vuelo con ellos cancelado en el aeropuerto después de tenernos dos horas esperando. Perdí mi conexión con otro vuelo a España y me quedé atrapado en Rumanía 10 días. Su sistema de reclamaciones siempre da error y no se pueden realizar.

Absolutely terrible airline

Absolutely terrible airline. The costs of a checked bag is criminal. I was racing to catch their flight (my initial flight arrived late) and had to pay for a bag. They had me running to the atm because they demanded I pay in cash, and of course didn't have change. And to add insult to injury I had to pay at a kiosk on the other side of a large airport. You will save money booking other airlines. I would choose the most inconvenient flight possible over ever flying with this airline again.

the company is actively scamming…

the company is actively scamming everyone with their website section ‘my reservation’ that doesn’t work so as you can not upgrade your luggage capacity or other servicies in order to be ‘fined’ and have to pay overcharge at the check in desk. And they have terrible customer support and are always understaffed making it difficult to check in or check your bag if you don’t arrive 2-3 hours in advance.

I am writing this review because I am very disappointed with Tarom.
I had (or rather, I used to have) a ticket for the Bucharest–Cluj route, scheduled to depart at 22:30 on August 28, 2025.
I was informed via email that the flight had been canceled and that I was offered an alternative flight departing 4 hours earlier.

I replied by email just a few hours later, explaining why I could not accept this proposal. My international flight lands one hour after the departure time of the alternative flight offered by Tarom. In the same email, I also mentioned that I had already booked and paid for a hotel and transportation in Cluj for that night.

Tarom’s response was delayed by almost a week (more precisely, 6 days).
When I called, I was answered by a lady who seemed rather irritated, which I found inappropriate for someone in a customer service role.

She told me that I expected everything to be resolved immediately — that I wanted a new flight and accommodation for that night. No, madam, I waited 6 days for a response!

What I found unacceptable was the way she spoke: talking over me and not allowing me to explain my situation. That is not how you treat customers!
Tarom, the call was recorded!

At the end of the conversation, she promised to respond in writing the next day regarding accommodation in Bucharest. And indeed, she did respond. (A small side note, madam: every sentence should start with a capital letter.)

She informed me that Tarom has no responsibility toward passengers in such situations and that they cannot reimburse accommodation costs. My question is: why offer a flight 4 hours earlier? Precisely to avoid providing accommodation, since it was the last flight of the day.

If I had wanted an earlier flight, I would have booked it myself from the beginning. The flight I chose was planned according to my schedule in Cluj. That’s why I booked and paid for the hotel and transportation.

You disrupted all my plans, but of course, that doesn’t seem to concern you, Tarom. Nor does my financial loss appear to matter to you.

Came home from Paris

Came home from Paris, the flight was CDG - OTP, and the experience was extremely poor. The boarding started earlier than specified in the boarding pass. I was lucky because I was "late," but the rest of the passengers were waiting on the jet bridge in 40 °C till the official time, sweating like in a pool.
My seat was auto-assigned in the back of the plane. There is no way to choose a seat for Tarom if you book through Air France or KLM, and although I am a Platinum member, Tarom put me in the last rows.
I had a big black plastic box at my feet under the seat in front of me, which restricted my legs. I sat in a weird position, hurting my knees (platinum service!). The cabin was hot as hell, I estimated 30C or something, I was about to rip my t-shirt off.
On arrival, it took 1:20h to bring the luggage to the belt. Since there are no seats in that hall, you need to wait standing.
I'll avoid Tarom at any cost if possible.

CAN'T CANCEL FLIGHTS ONLINE AND NO-ONE PICKS UP THE CUSTOMER SVC LINES

There's no way to cancel a flight on their website. I'm trying to cancel a flight within the 24 hour period from booking. I have tried 6 times calling their only Customer Service Call Center numbers, and each time someone picks up (after a typical wait time of 15-20 minutes), the call drops. I have also sent an email, but have received no acknowledgement of their receipt of my email. This is the worst airline that I've dealt with globally.

Flew with TAROM on 18th July

Flew with TAROM on 18th July — the flight was on time and smooth, though the service was minimal (just a glass of water). Still, everything ran efficiently and without issue. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Very unpleasant experience

Very unpleasant experience: we boarded the plane 20 min. before the take off time but departed one hour late; bumpy and strangely gliding take off and landing; pricy for the only one glass of water served on board; very cold cabin and no blankets; old plane with no amenities.

Very very bad airline

Very very bad airline. The worst one. The flight from Cairo to Bucharest was delay one hour and because of this delay I lost my flight to Chisinau. In airport the staff very arrogant. No one is listening to your problem. " is not my duty, I don't know any thing" , this is the answers I was getting from police officer in airport. Will never use this airline. No compensation even. They book me a new ticket, but I should wait for 12 hours outside of airport, not even in transit area. In this case they should compensate by giving me a room at nearby hotel. No food, no water, and it is their fault that I missed my flight

Refund for cancelled flight

I booked a flight from Bucharest to Chisinau and it was cancelled just outside the two week window. Granted I will not get EU261 compensation but I am getting no responses for my request to refund the flight that they cancelled.

Chagrijnige bende

Ontzettend chagrijnig personeel, moest ook opeens me personal item wegen, deze was 1 kg te zwaar en moest hierdoor handbagage inchecken voor €70…

Stewardessen waren helemaal bloed chagrijnig, en vlucht was ook alles behalve stabiel.

Ik sla Tarom zeker over.

No debería tener permitido volar espacio europeo

La peor aerolínea. Pague 25€ por un asiento en primera fila y no lo respetaron. No contestan las decenas de veces que he tratado de contactarlos ni las reclamaciones por mail ni por web. El teléfono también es nula la atención y maleducados cuando tienes la suerte que te contesten. Los asientos rotos y en mal estado, la aeronave sucia . Inconcebible que la dejen volar dentro de la Union Europa.
