disappointing experience
My university used these for my graduation pictures. However, when selecting the images it is impossible to see what they look like. Whilst I do understand the reason for this as they don’t want them to be copied, I have received two of the same images. A simple email to me to say two of the images are the same, would you like to proceed or would you like to choose a different one would have made the whole experience different. I have since received two of the same image and after paying an extortionate price £100 for 5 images just to download I am less than impressed. It’s not the price, I was happy to pay this but I do not expect you to even be able to purchase 2 of the same photos. Other companies use their water mark all over the photo but you can still see what you are buying behind, whereas this photo company you can barely see your image. Customer service was useless, making it out as if I wanted a refund when I just expected 5 different images for the price paid. Also, we were not told that you had to wait 10 days to download the image after the graduation. Whilst this wasn’t a problem, it would have been nice to have been aware as I was expecting that after you paid you received the images. Disappointing as the pictures taken were lovely and the experience on the day was great. Look at the reviews for this place before using them as I definitely wouldn’t buy from again.

Whilst I am happy that you were pleased with the images you have received, I am sorry to learn that you have received a poor experience with us.
There are ways to view the image in a larger format such as clicking on the image when selecting on the website, I do appreciate that this may not be as clear as hoped and I shall certainly raise this with the relevant department.
If you have received two of the same image reference number, this can certainly be exchanged but if they are similar images but different references then regretfully this is something that we are not able to amend.
We do certainly appreciate your comments, please be rest assured that I have passed your comments onto the respective departments to assess further.

Ordered two prints of my sons' school…
Ordered two prints of my sons' school photos, both the same size, both paid for. One arrived correct, the other came out smaller and doesn't fit the frame it was supplied with. Customer service told me the photographer chose to shrink it and that they can't reprint. Their only offer was to send the photo back for a refund.
So one of my boys ends up with his framed photo on the wall and the other gets nothing. Try explaining that to a child. These are one-off school photos that can't be retaken. I asked for a reprint at the size I paid for, or a frame that fits the print they actually sent, and got neither. Poor quality control and worse aftercare. Avoid if the photos actually matter to you.

From reading your review, it appears that you have purchased from two different products, our 10x5 image and our 10x7 image. The specifications for the size of these images are down to the amount of children in the picture alongside the area which they are taken in also. Because of these factors, we cannot fulfil your request to have them at the same size as the quality for the 10x5 will be worse off and vice versa.
I do understand your frustrations and whilst the sizes are notified at time of ordering, we can only offer a refund in this instance.

The delivery charge only applies if the order is placed outside of the free 14-day back to school delivery option, if the school has requested for direct ordering only or the customer opts for home delivery. It also is not just postage and packaging, but also postal insurance, so if the order is damaged or lost in transit, we replace it free of charge.

Poor resolution photos, bad value for money
They charge literally hundreds of pounds for 5 photos as a digital file, but only allow you to download it as a 6mp (blurry) resolution. This is significantly lower (25%!) than even a 4k video you can find on youtube. Absolutely disappointment and a complete scam. For reference, the iphone 4s from 2011 shot in higher resolution than what tempest is charging hundreds of pounds for!

More variety in the picture packs!!
Have not yet received my physical pictures so cannot comment on their quality (although for the sake of pricing I hope it will be exceptional), however the selection process for my graduation pictures was ridiculous. Really what is the point of the photographer taking six different pictures if I have the option of only ordering one in a pack. Yes, it is useful to have multiple copies of the same one to give to family members etc, but then god forbid I want one of the other ones I had taken I would have to order it separately for another £30. So, at first glance the packs seem like great value until you realise it's all for the same picture. I don't understand why a company of this size and reputation continues to charge as much as they do when they could probably afford to lower them. Having the option to have more variety in the same pack would be a big improvement - that and not charging £100 to download digital pictures!! As if I haven't been made poor enough by university LOL

The price of £13.50 for one class photograph is extortionate in my opinion. Not only are they making an unreasonable profit out of parents - who just want a keepsake of a life moment - they offer a tiny proof (which is heavily defaced with their name written several times diagonally across it) so that it is hard to see the faces at all to make an informed decision. So pleased to hear the high school doesn't use them!

Ridiculous that there is no option to buy a single photo but have to spend a fortune on packs of so many photos you don’t need. Just money grabbing. Glad it’s the last one I’ll have to buy through this dreadful company.

Absolutely awful company
Absolutely awful company, with poor and frankly abrupt and defensive support staff. The website is awful and doesn't clearly explain issues in the order (tried to order a group double pack, but couldn't create the pack with the 2 photos I added because they were different job numbers). Our school has been using this company for photos for many years and the photo quality isn't even up there; overexposed and poor transfer to photo medium.

Poor quality on high price
Poor quality on high price. I don't understand why my daughter school using them. They are far away from professionals and (as a photographer myself) they shouldn't exist on the market at all... On the picture what they took basically all the children eyes closed and the picture itselfs looks like only have a darkener filter. Poor quality! Please DON'T use them! And after all they dare to ask you minimum of £15 for only 1 physical photo without an option of the digital copy...

We do not provide any digital copies of our group photographs due to issues with parental consent - you have the authority to own the digital copy for your own child/ren but you do not have consent for other parent's children as this would be out of their control. In this instance, physical prints are only available for you to purchase.
We kindly ask the school to check the photograph before distributing the photographs and if any editing work is needed for the whole group photograph, please speak with the school so they can contact us directly and we can look into this further.

Ridiculously expensive for a single photo. Not sure why our school choose this company as the price is almost double on what we paid last year.
Also there is no option of a digital copy like most other companies offer.

Very disappointing experience with nursery group photos
Our child’s nursery used this company for group photos. We were first sent a photo to purchase, but our daughter’s face was not visible in it. After we contacted the company, they provided a replacement image where her face could be seen.
However, when we received the printed photo, it was still the incorrect version where her face was not visible.
This is extremely disappointing. A nursery group photo is not just a product — it is a shared memory for all the children and families. We are not simply looking for a replacement for ourselves, but believe the company should provide a proper replacement for everyone affected, so that all families can keep a complete and meaningful memory of the class.
Based on this experience, I would not recommend this company for school or nursery photography. Schools should carefully consider providers with better quality control and customer service.

Considering the cost of living challenges this country is facing I find it very disheartening to see how parents are being over charged for school photos. The prices shared from Tempest are ridiculous and appear to be taking full advantage of the schools and parents alike. Sadly as I want to hold onto these memories, I’ll foot the bill, however I strongly recommend all schools to stay clear of this money grabbing company in future.

Bad photos, bad customer service. Why do schools use?!
So disgusting - the products they make avialble to buy are overpriced and wasteful. You cannot actually just buy the photo you want without having to buy a load of additional photos. Their 'customer service' was slow and rude. Also, most disappointedly their actual photos are not very good! So many children with eyes shut etc. Am going to be asking school to change suppliers asap.

When looking at the image, we have to assess the best photograph out of the alternatives where the majority of the children are facing the camera with eyes open. However, if the parent were to contact is regarding their child's eyes not open, we can instigate an eye swap from the alternative image to the accepted image so all the orders are the same. Anything further, the school would need to contact us directly.
If you have any queries regarding ordering, you can contact our Direct Order team on 01736 751555 (opt. 3, Mon-Fri 8:15am-4:15pm) where an adviser can advise you further.

Extortionate prices
Extortionate prices, the previews are so blurry it is hard to see the photo clearly before you place your order. £20 for a rolled up tube class photo is honestly quite alot, especially when purchasing for more than one child.
