Overpriced and disappointed

It was "restaurant week" in Liverpool. There was a deal of 3 course meal for £35. Including a glass of sparkling wine.
There were five of us celebrating a friends 70th birthday. There was a supplement of £4.95 as one of my friends had Sirloin steak. I also had a bottle of Ivy lager, and another friend had a diet coke.

When the bill came in it was split five ways. It worked out at £57 each.
Apparently there was a £30 service charge.
The food itself was ok, apart from my starter which was crab with avocado salad. It wasn't FRESH crab it was TINNED crab and rather bland.
I wouldn't eat there again. I think £285 for five people was very overpriced.
I didn't complain at the time as i didn't want to spoil the my friends special birthday.

I have just returned from Palma Mallorca, where i ate in some lovely restaurants. Fresh seafood, lamb, fish... all FRESH. There was three of us, and each time the bill came in at between 90 - 110 Euros, and that included wine.
And NO service charge.

The Ivy Chelsea Gardens.
Beautiful soroundings, food did not disappoint. Service was non existent. We got seated, 20 Minutes passed, we had to ask to order drinks. Ordered food, took another took 20 mins to arrive, one of the starters came without the side bread, this came 15 mins later after starter was eaten.
Had to chase up Mains, this took 40
Mins to arrive.

Dreadful service, restaurant was not even busy & appeared to have plenty of staff.

Service has definitely gone down hill sadly

Disappointing all round

Our table was booked for 5p.m. on Saturday 18th April at the Ivy Leeds but we didn't get to the table until 17.16p.m. as the restaurant was 'running late'. Nobody took our coats when we entered. One coat was taken at the table and we were told someone would come back for the second, but they didn't. We were seated at the table for ten minutes before anyone gave us any attention. It took a further 8 minutes to get a drink - so over half an hour after our booking we managed to relax with a drink. Part of our measure of a good restaurant is the welcome and how soon you are offered a drink. The salmon fishcake course was very dry. It seemed to have been sitting under a heat lamp for some time. The dish wasn't helped by the poached egg being more hard boiled than poached. We won't be returning any time soon even though we are gold tier members.

Ivy Chichester Poor

Ivy Chichester. Poor poor poor waiting well over 75 minutes for the main to arrive after the starter and to be honest our appetite was lost, we chased three times just not good, food finally promised to arrive in 3 minutes was another 12 and then over 75 minutes from clearing our starter. Same with drinks arriving late and having to chase and drinks arriving separately 20 mins apart and being told they were busy!? Is that my issue or their greed and dilution of basic service or for me to suffer as a result? Having eaten in many of these restaurants around the UK they need to resolve this for Chichester. Ruined the night.

The Ivy Cardiff - loveeeee

The Ivy in Cardiff is one of my favorite places in town. From the service to the managers, everyone is just really lovely and I love the level of customer service. I went last night (a Sunday) and it was the perfect way to wind down my weekend, finishing off with a salted caramel espresso martini is the best way to end any evening. Will definitely be back!

Impressive surroundings but average…

Impressive surroundings but average food and the DJ made it impossible to have a conversation.

My husband and I booked a table at The Ivy to celebrate our wedding anniversary. My expectations were high as one might expect from a brand like this. HOWEVER we were really disappointed. For a start, there was a DJ on and the music was really loud. It would have been great for a bar but definitely not for a restaurant of this standing. We could barely hold a conversation during our meal given the volume of the music! I’ve no idea what that was all about or, indeed, why anyone would think a DJ was appropriate in a fine dining restaurant!! Then there was the food - it was average, at best. The best bit about it was the bread we had for starter. The service was fast and the staff were friendly but that was the only only bonus as it meant our dining ‘experience’ was over quickly and we could leave and have a conversation.

In a nutshell - lovely surroundings, fast service, friendly staff but absolutely zero atmosphere (due to the DJ) and average food.

WINCHESTER RESTAURANT. AWFUL

PEOPLE LISTEN UP! DO NOT EXCEPT BADLY COOKED OVER PRICED FOOD. If only I could give zero stars...but they can have the 1 star for not charging us a penny which was nice. The chicken milanese was overcooked and undercooked all in one....a real skill actually, yes this is sarcasm. The menu said it came with a salad...er 2 pieces of tiny lambs ear lettuce doesn't not make a salad...its a garnish. Plus it doesn't come with chips...£5.95 for cheap frozen chips...otherwise known as a chip tax. It really should come with chips. So in total 27 hard earned quid for such low rent rubbish. Unfortunately they are trading off a big name and using inferior quality products. Tut tut. We will never return but thank you for the other free low rent shepperds pie and gin and tonic

Ivy Asia Leeds - Loved it

Food was incredible, service even better. Properly looked after from start to finish.

The Ivy Marylebone - Don't bother!

Visited The Ivy Marylebone Tuesday 31st March . Very poor, slow service. I was treating my guest for her birthday and the whole experience including food was disappointing. Nowhere do they list an email in order to make contact and complain. Filled in an online message service and received an automated reply saying someone would be in touch....I'm still waiting. Would not recommend.

Such a let down

When we arrived the table was not ready ,told to perhaps order a drink at the bar . No sooner had we ordered we were taken to the table . Husband ordered a whisky and water . Water in small jug when he poured it he saw the inside of the jug was dirty . Had the drink changed. Ordered our food . Half way through the starter the main came???.we said to put it on the table didn't fancy getting a Luke warm steak back . Mine was ok but husbands was dry at one end as it wasn't the same thickness throughout. Overall the whole experience was not as expected for a £150 +meal . Will not return . Sorry to say .

Feeling a bit robbed!

Had an evening meal at The Ivy in Harrogate 19/03/2026. Had a couple of lunches at various other restaurants over the years and no real complaints. I have no complaints over the service or the food. Everything was good. The pricing model they apply however is far from satisfactory. Im no skinflint and don't mind paying a bit extra for quality but............when I order a meal, I expect a meal and not just the main element. To class basic staples like mash, peas, broccoli, rice, chips & veg and charge from £4.15 to £6.75 is ridiculous and borders on theft. The mains are at best maybe competitive with other good restaurants. Add a couple of sides and it becomes expensive and not even value for money. I have not experienced this before and would not visit again just for this reason. For me, I felt it spoilt what should have been a great evening. Daft thing is.....I wasn't paying for it, the company was as a bit of a thank you!!

Awful.

Awful.
Pre booked the mother’s day experience.
Sat and provided the standard menu unaware until mains.
Lobster and risotto undercooked and lobster tasting fishy and nothing like lobster I’ve had before(numerous including Michelin starred) and plate chipped questioning hygiene.
Mums steak looked dry and unappealing.
Complained and said we should have the Mother’s Day experience and food sub standard, whilst my mother took a rest room break, waitress stated we should have pre booked at which point I brought up our reservations details.
Offered ‘complimentary dessert’ which was brought flaming to the table right next to my face, almost setting my hair on fire, this was after waiting and excess amount of time, I had already informed them that my parking was almost up and that the tables either side had gone through two covers.
All food totally lack lustre. How does this place actually keep its so called prestigious reputation?
Burnt my mouth, cold dessert but spoon red hot.
Mum ordered steak, sides which never appeared.
Hot chocolate was the worst I have ever tasted over sweet with no hint of cookie dough.
Food Luke warm at best lack lustre in taste and overall an overpriced extremely poor experience for my lovely mum who looked stunning and was so excited.
Staff tripping over each other and some no regard for guests at all.
Asked for the flowers and chocolates as part of the meal booked, flowers provided (which the table next to us stole while I paid for the meal) chocolates never provided.
Appalling service, appalling food for a so called high end restaurant.
You would get better overall value at your local chain restaurant!
Lesser ‘experiences’ we are talking half the price, looked lovely compared to ours adding to the insult of the £125 price (2 courses and 2 drinks). Which should have been £80 for both of us and £40 on the lesser more attractive option!
I’ve eaten in a wide variety of restaurants including Michelin starred to pub grub but this was just insulting.
Never again. Just appalling. Avoid.
