Toluna Pitfalls

OK, so I joined this site several months ago and all was well until I had enough point to redeem around £100 in vouchers then I was mysteriously locked out with incorrect email/password message which, incidentally, was not true! I had to log this several times and kept getting an email saying 'resolved' when quite clearly it wasn't! In the end I wrote to them directly and they eventually came back with some guff about my account having been under review because of some inconsistencies with my survey responses (I have only ever answered honestly and thoughtfully but hey-ho!). They unlocked my account with a nonchalant remark of 'Everyone deserves a 2nd chance' - quite insulting to one's intelligence, quite frankly. So, on we go and I was able to redeem my points and resume taking surveys; however, I now have a different problem which again I have gone back and forth to them about but they will not resolve it! They keep inviting me to take surveys, sending me reminders to participate, etc., and I am able to log on, access and complete the daily polls, access the games but I am screened out of doing any surveys at all - I keep getting the message 'we are out of surveys at the moment' when quite clearly they are not as I can see them all sitting there! The response I have now from Toluna is that the problem is emanating from my end and that their software is indicating that I am on some kind of a black list and fraud may be suspected! Once again like I have done something wrong to bring about this situation! They seem to be suggesting that I could get my Internet connection to bypass this which may allow me to resume doing surveys - this sounds like a load of rubbish to me as I am not blocked from the site itself, just the surveys so how is one supposed to differentiate between the site and the survey aspect? I only ever do surveys from home using my secure Internet connection, have absolutely no problem accessing any other site and absolutely no problem with any other survey site to which I belong. Lastly, I am retired so have the time to complete surveys but Toluna also appear to cap the amount of surveys you can do in a day - 5 seems to be the average then you'll get the message 'Wow, you reached your maximum surveys for the day' so they are basically controlling how much you can earn in a day. Hitting your max surveys everyday also appears to spark suspicion that you are doing something dodgy, leading to them investigating your account. I really enjoyed doing the survey offerings on Toluna but it's a hassle trying to keep one's account active/unlocked even though you know you are doing everything by the book AND Toluna never take the blame but instead point the finger at you as the excuse for whatever has gone wrong. Frustrating beyond belief!

IS this a scam? Accumulate '000 of points then 'we couldn’t process your recent gift redemption. After months of surveys accumulating measly 1-3000 pts per survey they dont pay out!!!!!!

Why is it you close down your site have been honest with the surveys now it seems a waste of time on my side you do not reply to any thingat all just blank cut of when survey is just about to end so no points it's wrong have about 100,000 of your points how do I collect them

It's a shame you can't score 0

It's a shame you can't score 0! I've been logged out of my account and now my email and password are incorrect! 5 emails sent to customer service, guess what? absolutely no reply. Clearly a scam - avoid like the plague, they will let you answer surveys and when you get enough points, close you down.

Heed the warnings, you are unlikely to get paid!

Read all the negative reviews under their other Trustpilot account, as well as these.
TOLUNA ARE A SCAM COMPANY
They let you spend hours/days filling out surveys, don’t mention any issues to you, but, when you come to claim your first reward, your account will be suspended without notification and they won’t send your vouchers.
They consistently do this, using a poor excuse of how their fraud detection system has found some issues with your responses. ABSOLUTE RUBBISH - your fraud detection system is seriously flawed, Toluna!
I gave thoughtful, honest responses to every survey and have asked several times for evidence of my supposedly fraudulent input. They cannot come up with anything, because there isn’t anything. They just don’t want to pay people.
Swagbucks/Ipsos/Branded Surveys are much better.
I wrote to a couple of Toluna’s clients to advise of their tactics snd am now going to a consumer champion.
This company needs exposing.

Waste of time imo, surveys are always full or you're not what they're looking for.
I use other survey sites which don't have this problem

Disappointment

What the hell is wrong with this site? Every survey i completed i get "sorry, this survey has filled up". Excuse me? I waste so much of my time doing surveys yet it waits for me to finish them when telling me "sorry but surveys are full". Deliberately keeping points and wasting my time that I could have spent doing something else. I been looking forward to earning some, or any extra cash but i can see no website is to be trusted. They take what they want for nothing.

Data Mining

Data Mining. Deleted app and account on first day. Set up profile and started surveys, give them information and then say your not the profile they're looking for. Or surveys are full. Saw points deleted too.

Scam

Scam. Suspends accounts when there is a lot of points left (enough for big rewards like 20/30 pounds), claiming that the account does not pass 'quality and security checks'. Gives bogus reasons and refuses to help. Do not waste your time.

Please avoid wasting time on this company!

Have been locked out of my account even though I know the password I am putting in is correct! Reset password function does not send an email.
I applied for a voucher just prior to this and received a message that they were unable to send it and so were cancelling the request. I reapplied - surprise, surprise no voucher and now locked out of my account.
Tried the ‘contact us’ form which will not send!!!!!!!!

Avoid these scammers!

Bunch of scammers

Bunch of scammers, don't trust or use this survey site!! They will deliberately keep hold of your points and refuse to reward you for all your hard work. Flimsiest of excuses are used for not redeeming the rewards after accumulating a lot of points. There are better survey sites out there compared to this bunch of thieves!!!

Never written a review but Toluna is a SCAM site

Surveys are always tedious but when there is an incentive they're bearable. Toluna however never delivers their promise of vouchers upon accumulating enough points to redeem one. I have enough to redeem a £15 TK Maxx voucher which I have tried to redeem countless number of times only to receive an email saying that it has been cancelled. I have tried to contact Toluna but the form doesn't work and so this is 100% a scam site to waste their users' time and make you look like a mug for giving away so much information. In times like these I wonder how the owners of the site sleep at night when they know the desperation that the users must be facing for them to spend time saving up to buy things that they probably are unable to afford otherwise. I'm sure there are ways to report bogus sites such as Toluna and I feel that it needs to be reported!

Still waiting for my voucher

I cashed out in September and was told it would be 1-2 weeks for my reward. That time has been and gone. I tried to put in a ticket on the website but after submitting I got an error message. I have had no email with the voucher either. The new look website is awful. I've been with Toluna for over 10 years and this is the worst it's ever been.

Difficult to deal with

In line with other reviewers, I've been with this company a week or so, applied to claim a £5 Amazon voucher (whose points took hours to accrue), only to later be told it's been cancelled. I didn't cancel it so there's no reason it should have been. I tried to contact the company and filled in their online form only to be told the form can't be sent. This is ridiculous.
The survery questions themselves are rather repetitive, often badly-written, and often over-personal or irrelevant to anything. At other times, I'm told I'm not eligible but no reason is given. If the eligibility requirements were given and my basic details could be pre-populated, a lot of time would be saved.
Currently I barely trust this company.

Update: Since the company's contact in response to the above, my account had to be reinstated. I have just received the voucher, some 14 days and quite a lot of hassle after I first applied for it. I have now managed to bank the money into my Amazon account, and can finally delete my Toluna account once and for all.

I have been with Toluna for some years…

I have been with Toluna for some years and although I get less surveys than I used to I get enough to earn a £10 gift card most weeks. It can be frustrating to get the ‘ it’s not you, it’s us ‘ message.
My main criticism is that it does take over a week from claiming to actually receiving the email with the gift card link.
In these difficult times I’m just grateful for anything that helps with paying for the groceries even if it does take time.
