Besides the horrendous service they lost irreplaceable items and they don’t care!!!!

Summary of experience for United Regions Van Lines: I got 3 quotes and looked for best reviews from moving companies.

Talked to Matthew Reagan (sales) he nice and helpful with all my questions. I ask for gotchas and he made me feel secure. Decent quote, one company, no broker situation. Said he could get the furniture there fairly quickly. Talked about the 1 to 17 days and insurance. He said both should not be an issue (my first mistake) He also said he was my point of contact for the entire move.

Pickup day, movers came 2 hours late and they showed up in a rental truck. I asked about why not the company truck and he said his was in the shop they wanted to get us going. They also laughed when they saw the stuff and said we were under bid the cost would be so much more. About 4K but we were stuck now. Had to pay with Zelle (my second mistake) The driver had me sign more paperwork asking when we wanted delivery. I said tomorrow. He said not possible I had to put at least 7 days out, he was confident the shipment would go straight there. He also talked me out of insurance said it was not necessary for the huge cost. Because of the care they were packing I didn’t purchase. I asked for copies of my paperwork and he said he would send that night. I took camera phone pictures JIC. The next day no paperwork, no call. I call Matthew (sales) who is going to be with me the whole move. He says now he can’t help me and passes me to customer support. Amanda (customer support) can’t help me because she doesn’t have the paperwork either. It’s Memorial Day weekend and she sends me a email at 2 pm saying I didn’t pay enough so our shipment won’t be processed. I try calling. No answer. We waited until Tuesday (even though they said they were working all holiday weekend). On Tuesday I talk to Phyllis, she also doesn’t know anything about the shipment but will call dispatch and call me back. Oh and remember the 1 to 17 days. It doesn’t start at pickup but at the date you said you wanted delivery. Fine, fine print. So the 7 days the driver made us change makes it 1 to 24 days.

I called everyday for 3 weeks. My daughter, son in law, 1 and 4 year olds slept on an air mattress with no furniture.

NO ONE ever gave me a status where the items were or any information until week 3 when Phyllis called and said furniture would be delivered Saturday. Exactly 24 days. A ratty old yellow truck not from the company shows up. Everything looked like it had just been thrown in. All boxes damaged, furniture damaged. Fireplace we payed extra for special handling for destroyed. There is missing furniture, and a missing box with irreplaceable memorabilia. I called to let them know and sent pictures right away. I spoke with Tina who said she would get back to me and Matthew…..Nothing still waiting on calls. Phyllis did call back once and said she was asking around and would call me.

I hesitated making this review because I needed United Regions Van Lines to help us find the missing items. But they haven’t helped beyond telling me to file a report with 3rd party vendor for missing and damaged items.

I highly recommend this moving company. They’re very professional and great for first-time movers. They were honest about their charges and prices from the beginning, with no hidden fees. I cannot recommend this company's full packing service enough. It made the daunting task of packing and moving so much more manageable and efficient. Worth every penny! The packing service saved me so much time and effort, and everything arrived at my new place in perfect condition. They made sure everything was packed securely and labeled for easy unpacking.

Complete incompetence and zero communication

The company picked up our belongings over two weeks ago, and we have had zero communication from them about when our things will be delivered. Any time we call, all we get are recordings telling us to leave a voicemail, and then we get no response from the company. This whole experience has been nothing but frustrating.

Adding on to this review, I just got a call from the driver who is delivering our things tomorrow. No call from the company, mind you, just the guy driving the delivery truck. The move entailed picking up belongings from two different addresses and delivering them to two different addresses (two moves in one), but the driver told me that they stored all of our belongings together at their warehouse and the guys who picked up at both places used the same color stickers on all the boxes. When our delivery driver went to pick them up, he was told everything was going to the same address. So now, when he gets here tomorrow, he has to unload EVERYTHING so we can sort it out, put my stuff back on the truck, and then deliver it to my address. The moving company didn't even give him the right address. They gave him the address of the first delivery, but the different zip code of the second delivery, which is in a different city. UPDATE: Now the moving company is saying that he will deliver everything to one address and that's it. They refuse to admit any wrongdoing on their part.

I could go on, but hopefully this gets the point across about how incompetent this company is.

So, now on to arbitration. I filed a complaint with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration as well.

BE WARNED ....

We have made multiple cross country ad regional moves. our experience with United Regions Van Lines was BY FAR THE WORST MOVE EXPERIENCE WE HAVE EVER HAD. There were so many issues with the move, start to finish that I will "highlight" only a few of the most egregious items.
1) The "REAL COST" We did a full video walk through with the sales agent (100% of every room and every closet). We also described an off site storage unit, including ALL contents, therein. United sent one 26' box truck, even though I told the agent that within the past year we had moved 90% of the items and it took two full 26' Box Trucks. Still, they showed-up with one 26' Box Truck.
They did, of course, have to call for a second 26' truck. After packing both trucks full, I still had to go to Penske and rent another 20' Box truck to move what United Van Lines was not able to include. Again, there were NO new pieces or items that had not been moved 11 months earlier.
2) After loading the items and, of course with their two trucks now locked with our goods, the lead packer / mover tells me that before they can depart he needs to review the "new cost" with me, and to collect an additional deposit. They had packed the household goods and trucks so slowly, that it was now around 10PM local time. I was beyond shocked to find that the cost had now increased by over 70% (From ~$10k to over $17k). Again, this was after I had to rent and self load / move a 3rd 20' Box Truck).
3) Arrival and "Professional Packing Service".... When unpacking, we found considerable damage and outright destruction of several items, some of which are expensive lamps and furniture. We have filed a damage claim and are hopeful we can resolve the loss without lawyers.. but whatever it takes.
4) Packing "Technique" - Note from above comments the huge jump of 70%+ cost and the fact of their not being able to fit the move into the 1 truck they provided, nor the 2nd truck they later sent.... Also note they charge by size of move vs. weight of move.

When unpacking we found a huge number of boxes (~20+) that felt unusually light weight. This was because the "Professional Packers" had repeatedly used their Large size boxes for very small light weight items. A few examples, a light wooden serving bowl tossed in the bottom of a large box. covered with a single dish towel and some packing paper. Many large boxes had single flower pots in the bottom and a small amount of packing paper. Another large box had only two small plastic legs for a small TV. No TV.. Just the 2 plastic legs, no packing material. Another large box had 3 TV remote controls and an extension cord.... Enough said. Clearly, these Large boxes ate a great deal more truck space then would have the appropriate small box. Was this intentional to increase cost or just poor quality packing job? No way to prove that out, but it absolutely served to increase move size and related cost.

Finally, and I feel stupid for not placing more focus on the fact that United Regions Van Lines does not accept any form of credit card... Cash / Bank Draft Only policy.
It appears clear to me that most any reputable credit card provider would be more than willing to argue the and find ample cause to back-charge them, on behalf of their card holders.

We will, of course, NEVER AGAIN consider United Regions Van Lines.

Fraudulent moving company for sure

This company seems to be burying its reputation under negative reviews and aliases.
I tried moving with these guys, communicating with Phillip Champion the majority of the time. We agreed to a great price for a no-packing 1700 mile move, and the first red flag was that, despite not being advertised as a "meet it or beat it" company, Phil kept lowering the price when I'd communicate with him. At first it was because I was military, then it was because I found companies with cheaper prices... and "we have more experience," is what I was told, "so even if we can't beat their price, we got real damn close, and you should absolutely go with us."
Long story short, the requested down payment was enormous - about 1/3rd of the cost of the move - and we initially agreed to pay a quarter of that up front and then just pay the rest by the time of the move. We paid the initial amount and gave them a pending check for the rest of the amount, which they promised they'd only cash once we were ready.
We did more research, and then found out that this company has a horrible reputation of faking their years in business in addition to holding movers' possessions hostage once they've arrived. Naturally, we sought to cancel at this point. It was also around this point that we noticed that the company accepted the initial payment under the name of "Moving Nation," which obviously is no United Regions Van Lines. I can only assume that this was their former alias, and based on everything I've heard, I believe them to be a broker. Their contract doesn't let you cancel if you're within 10 days of the move, which I can only imagine is so that you can't cancel when you realize that you were brokered out.
After I sent an email requesting to cancel, the check was cashed, and I was charged the other 3/4s of the down payment. Phillip promised that this amount would be refunded to me in the form of a check sent in the mail. I was not told I would be receiving the initial 1/4 back, though.
This all being said, I recently contacted my bank and ordered a charge back as it's been nearly two weeks, and I do not know if that check for the 3/4s was ever sent, nor do I have reason to believe that it was. I also wanted to get that initial 1/4 back, since, for some reason, they didn't send that.
Do not trust these people with your money! I had to get my debit card and account number changed so I could be sure they couldn't charge anymore.

Don't ever use these people for a move

If I could give this company a negative rating I would do so without a moment's hesitation. This company uses predatory business practices to scam its customers.

We recently moved from California to Alabama and shopped around for quotes from various companies. The Salesperson from United Region Lines, Eric, was Fantastic. The entire quote was done through a video chat, he made us walk through our apartment showing him all our belongings and documenting them to price the move. The quote we received from United Regional was in line with the quote we received from other companies. We decided to use them because of Eric and we thought they were the same company as United Van Lines which is large and reputable.

We paid our deposit and it was agreed that they would pick up on the 10th and deliver on the 16th. On the evening of the 7th, we received a call to say that they would be there to pick up the next day at 8 am and we needed to have the balance for the move ready in cash or Money Order. Obviously, we were not ready for them 2 days early. As much as we argued with them that this was not as per the agreement, their attitude was "take it or leave it", they are busy and if it doesn't suit us we can cancel the move and they will keep our deposit. We had no option but to work through the night to finish our packing.

The next day two gentlemen appeared in a plain white box truck and demanded the balance from us before they would start loading, we handed over the cash. They then proceeded to walk around examining our boxes and furniture. We were then told that we had more Cubic Foot than what was quoted and he would have to contact the office before he could load anything. I showed him that everything in the apartment was listed in the quote and there was nothing extra. Regardless, he wasn't interested and neither was their office, the agreed-upon quote suddenly became twice as expensive going from 8K to 16K. Again we could either take it or leave it but either way, they were keeping the deposit if we cancelled. With only 2 days left on my lease, it would be impossible for me to find another mover, we were tired and they had us over a barrel so we had to negotiate with them. We agreed that for 2.7K more they would take all our boxes and personal items but none of our furniture. Seemed to me that it would be cheaper to buy new furniture than to move the quality stuff that we had. In 2 days it was impossible to sell the furniture so we ended up giving some away and paying to have the rest removed.

Unfortunately, that is not where this saga ends. They were supposed to call us to let us know about the delivery. When we did not hear from them we followed up. After many calls and voicemails, which were never responded to, we eventually got hold of a live person on the 15th, turns out that our belongings that were supposed to be delivered the next day were still sitting in a warehouse in California and they had no idea when it would be put on a truck, let alone be delivered. Again as much as we argued the quote promised delivery on the 16th, as far as they were concerned as long as they deliver within 30 days of pickup everything they are good. After numerous daily calls to get an update on when our belongings would be loaded, on the 22nd it was put on a truck and we were told it would be delivered within 17 days.

On Sat 25th at 10:40 AM, I received a call from them telling me that they would deliver on Memorial Day but the truck could not deliver to my door because it is too big to maneuver in the narrow streets so I would have to pay an extra $800 for a door delivery and that along with the 2.7K need to be in Postal Money orders otherwise they will not deliver. The Post Office closes at 2 PM on Sat, again putting me under pressure. I had to go to 4 Post Offices until I found one that had Money Orders in Stock.

After all that, my belongings arrived the day after Memorial Day. Most of the boxes were damaged, even the ones that had fragile stickers on them were handled roughly. The boxes were dumped in my new apartment and within an hour they were gone. The inventory list that was painstakingly filled out when they picked up for the move was not used to check what was delivered, nor was a copy given to me. At this stage in time I have no idea if all my belongings have even been delivered.

This has been the most harrowing experience in my life, United Regional Van Lines feeds off the good name and reputation of United Van Lines and has mastered the art of putting people under pressure and preying on their customers, every review I now read tells the same story. I am surprised that the Better Business Bureau has not taken them to task, they deserve to be shut down.

Pickup Date and Payment: According to the contract, the pickup window was from May 8th to May 10th, with the first available delivery date being the 16th. You were contacted on the evening of the 7th to schedule an early pickup, which was within the agreed-upon window. The request for the balance in cash or money order was for the delivery, not the pickup. This was clearly stated in the contract you signed.

No Increase in Charges: The Bill of Lading matched the original estimate, and there were no additional charges. Any claims of increased costs are not accurate. The agreed-upon amount was honored throughout the process.

Delivery Communication: Our delivery window is 0-17 business days from the pickup date. Your shipment was delivered on the 11th business day, within the agreed-upon timeframe. We communicated this delivery window clearly, and the delivery was completed within the contractual period.

Additional Delivery Charges: The charge for using a smaller truck was due to the size of the streets, which prevented the larger truck from maneuvering safely. This charge was necessary and justified to ensure the safe delivery of your belongings.

Damaged Items: Any damage to boxes packed by the customer is regrettable. However, boxes packed by the customer can be more susceptible to damage. We encourage you to file a claim for any damaged items through our third-party claims processor, and we will assist you with this process.

To pick up house hold good.
Could not get all my stuff in it. So they left that stuff. Had to go back to the old house in Minnesota to get the rest of my things( from Maine).

Said they packed 2500 cubic feet of good in the box truck. Penske web site stated it would only hold 1800 cubic feet.

Then wanted more money before delivery.

Never would use them again.

The hire packers were good, driver not so much . Customer service was useless. Basically called me a liar once I confronted them about the discrepancy in cubic feet the truck could hold.
