I love Upcloud

I love Upcloud. We run 18 servers spread across Frankfurt, Singapore, Sydney and the USA.

Have found the reliability to be Top Notch and the Customer Support is second to none.

My only small negative is that I wish they would add Maria DB to their Managed Database lineup.

One of the best hosters that i know

One of the best hosters that i know and a very good alternative to DigitalOcean if you are looking for a hoster based in the EU. The support team is available 24/7 and usually anwsers in less then a minute.
Really don't understand why there are so many negative reviews.

Sluggish sales team, not customer driven Cloud service provider!

No matter how hard I tried to reach out Upcloud through various means (tech support, email, LinkedIn) to explore reseller/partnership opportunity and related technicalities, I simply didn’t able to get response from sales channels quickly enough. To date, I am waiting more than 3 weeks, there has been no acknowledgement or out of office from Account Team (sales) due to Chinese New Year, simply dead silence.
As a consumer of cloud service, I developed SAAS product (Backup247) as per Australia based storage on offer. Suddenly local object storage got depreciated. No one from Upcloud reached out to inform me about such changes in advance.

Similarly, no one reached in advance to talk about price hike towards end of 2022. Upcloud simply took subscribers for granted!

Completely appalling customer service specially when paying 20% premium compared to Hetzner, Digital Ocean or Vultr, time to consider exit strategy.

Balance of price and quality

Normal service, reasonable prices, European data centre. I found a balance of price and quality for myself. In 4 years of using the services, there have been practically no problems. Excellent referral programme.

A Disappointing Experience for High-Traffic Websites"

I have been a user of UpCloud for the past 5 years. However I must advise against using their services if your website garners a significant amount of traffic. They do not provide sufficient time to respond to notices; in my case they allowed only one day to address the issue before taking my website offline.

What disappoints me further is their approach towards handling DMCA notices, which seems rigid and unyielding. They do not entertain any disputes and seem unwilling to listen to their customers’ grievances. This led to a frustrating experience for me as I encountered a false DMCA claim and found no avenue for redress with them.

Initially, I was billed between 60-70 USD monthly and was fairly content with their service. But following these negative experiences, I have scaled down my operations with them to just one server. I now recommend considering alternatives like AWS LightSail, which not only gives a more reasonable time frame to respond to notices but also allows for dispute resolutions.

If your plan is to host a simple static website then UpCloud might be suitable, but for more dynamic websites with higher traffic, I would advise exploring other options. It pains me to say that my journey with UpCloud has been largely dissatisfactory, marked with numerous hurdles and lack of support.

Illegally use of brand and url

I have a serious complaint about the abuse of my brand 12inchcity. They illegally host 12inchcity.nl with disinformation about our brand. if you compare 12inchcity.nl to 12inchcity.com you see that they copied our (dutch) info and added strange content to it. This causes damage to our brand.

Worked just fine until today when my…

Worked just fine until today when my account was temporary suspended, no specific reason given. Contact abuse department it said, which I have done but still no response after hours of waiting.

I'm not even sure how to identify my email with my account as there seem to be no tracking or verification if they received my ticket. I hope it's just a terrible mistake, seems to be more people with the same problem.

Edit: still no response from abuse department, I'm giving up, my customers are complaining and my business reputation is damaged. I'm migrating away to a more reliable provider.

UpCloud locked my account for no reason, without warning

I have been using UpCloud service also for 2 years. And today I received an email that UpCloud locked my account without warning. Hundreds of my websites suddenly stopped. I don't know why either. Using the service is so nervous. You guys are reputable.

UpCloud service is superb

UpCloud service is superb. However, the only issue is if we use their flexible plant, its price is too high. So no option to upgrade only CPU or RAM. Other than that I like their service.

Wrong contact/payment info or Terms violated?

They just sent me a email two days later signing up, telling that terms has been violated, but they don't elaborate on that and don't say what happens to your money. Contact details, payment details and usage from my perspective are ok. I guess I will have to look for another service.

When asking the reason, here is the Upcloud default answer:

Hello,

Thank you for your message.

Your account has been suspended due to violations of our Terms of Services.

Unfortunately, we will not be restoring your access to your account for the reasons mentioned above. We are also unable to disclose this further.

I can't get into the specifics of your individual case, though if you made a deposit then this would have been returned to you. If you were in the trial mode then no payment was made and none would be taken.

We take the security of our platform very seriously, meaning that if there are any discrepancies in the provided data, a Terms of Service violation or multiple accounts created to bypass limits/previous suspensions then we do have to act on these.

Got suspended several hours after registration

This provider is a complete joke. I got interested after reading some "good" reviews about them and decided to try it. Paid with my debit card, deployed lowest cloud server, so far so good I thought. Several hours in trial, the I got suspended and accused for one of these reasons:
* Invalid personal information, address, or contact details.
* Invalid payment method information or unauthorised use of a payment method.
* Inappropriate use of services
* Unapproved opening of multiple accounts.

I did none of these above. Contacted support then got permanently suspended. Just go with DigitalOcean or Vultr. This provider doesn't worth your time nor deserve your money.
