Beware - Vrbo cancelled on us last minute

Travelling to London for an event. Booked a self contained apartment on Vrbo weeks in advance, three day before departure Vrbo emailed to say my reservation had been cancelled because the property was no longer available as it had been booked in another platform.
The property was owned/managed by Edens Property.
This is obviously a case of the owner got a better price elsewhere and our booking was dumped in favour of that.
This caused us a lot of inconvenience and stress.

We will never use Vrbo again!

VRBO host has just gone a cancelled AGAIN…

The VRBO host has just gone a cancelled my booking-AGAIN. I've done a lot of short-term accommodation booking over the last few years & VRBO has wat to regularly produced properties & hosts that are unreliable. I've had 2 or 3 cancellations before my trips & one where I turned up & couldn't get into the property at all, nor contact the host. To be fair VRBO did arrange alternative accommodation for me at the same price, but what a time consuming waste of time at the start of a trip. My theory is that because there are no ratings on VRBO, hosts don't have to take care of their guests as they would if they knew that their actions would be made public. Plus VRBO don't have a section that highlights how often hosts cancel a booking before a trip as the competition does, so hosts get no penalty for pulling the pin if they think they can get better prices by cancelling the booking on VRBO & putting the property on another platform. Which is exactly what I think happened today as I booked my accommodation months ago when prices were cheap. The town is now fully booked for an upcoming event & properties are going last minute for double & triple what I was supposed to pay. Only speculation. For whatever reason we have a rule now where we won't book a VRBO property if we can avoid it as the chances of cancellation by the host if accommodation gets tight is to high for our comfort.

Si no necesitas nada este es el sitio perfecto. De lo contrario es un infierno.

Si necesitas ayuda, es el infierno.
El acceso al sitio es difícil. Este sitio es un desastre. Falta de capacidad de respuesta. Respuesta descuidada, seguimiento deficiente, en resumen durante 3 semanas, todavía estoy esperando el reembolso de una semana de alquiler, pagado y cancelado por el anfitrión sin avisarme, seguido de una reducción del período de alquiler inicialmente pagado.
Como única respuesta. de VRBO: "Comuníquese con el anfitrión al siguiente número de teléfono, excepto que el número nunca respondió". Cero AYUDA, cero SEGUIMIENTO del cliente.
Después de haber viajado por el mundo durante dos años y más de 600 noches, nunca había tratado con un sitio de reservas tan pésimo.

You could save yourself some awful anxiety.
Booked a place to stay in Porthmadog Wales.
Two days before we are due to leave we receive an email to say the booking is cancelled. At least we were told.
Vrbo told us that they would try to find us another place but to wait 24 hours.
So we were expected to wait until the day before we were due to leave to find out if we had a place to stay.
I think not.
Don't trust this company with your money.
We have been told our money has been refunded. We shall see.
If nothing else make sure you book with a credit card.

Snelle telefonische toegang tot Vrbo

Ik heb reeds verschillende keren met Vrbo geboekt. Deze keer een huis in Zuid-Frankrijk. Het voordeel van Vrbo is dat de eigenaar binnen de 24 uur moet accepteren. Deze keer accepteerde de eigenaar we onmiddellijk, maar was achteraf nooit bereikbaar. Nomaal krijg je via Vrbo een telefoonnummer van de eigenaar. Deze keer kreeg ik als boodschap dat de eigenaar Novasol was (een Deens vakantiebedrijf). Ik kreeg een deens telefoonnummer. Ik belde dit nummer op, maar kreeg de boodschap dat je via de website moet communiceren. Je moest daarvoor een account maken op MyBooking Novasol, maar dat lukte nooit. Telkens werd gezegd dat er een mail gestuurd werd naar mijn email adres voor verificatie maar ik kreeg nooit een mail (wel 10 x geprobeerd). Uiteindelijk belde ik naar Vrbo, kreeg daar snel iemand aan de lijn, die me zei dat de problemen bij Novasol gekend zijn (moeilijkheid om een account te maken), maar die me het telefoonnummer van Novasol Frankrijk gaf. Ik belde daar en kreeg een medewerker aan de lijn. Mijn vraag was hoe ik met Novasol kon afspreken voor de check-in. De Franse medewerker van Novasol legde me uit dat ik een code zou krijgen van de sleutelbox van zodra ik alle betalingen zou uitgevoerd hebben. De Vrbo medewerkster heeft mij goed geholpen met mij het Franse telefoonnummer van Novasol door te geven.

Cancelan apartamento familiar a 5 días de la llegada

Nos cancelaron el apartamento, reservado con más de dos meses de antelación, a una semana de llegar al destino. No ofrecieron ninguna alternativa, ninguna explicación.
Nos dijeron que había sido el huésped, y el huésped no sabía nada. Seguramente alguien pagó más por el apartamento, y ya está.
Con todo el viaje pagado, a 5 días del vuelo, nos quedábamos en la calle con dos niños. Tuvimos que gastar más del triple del presupuesto de las vacaciones para encontrar un cuchitril de mala muerte en la periferia. Nos arruinaron las vacaciones, no hay otra forma de verlo.
Cuando tratamos de reclamar la "Garantía de confianza" que ofrecen en su web, resulta que sólo funciona si contratas con ellos.
Hasta parecía que era culpa nuestra haber perdido esa monstruosa cantidad de dinero!

Mi recomendación es que no hagáis inventos. Buscar un proveedor más profesional, a estos no le importa lo más mínimo lo que pueda pasarle a sus clientes.

Vrbo rented me a ghost

Vrbo rented me a ghost. The host at no point answered any querie. The date of the booking came and went. Vrbo customer services did nothing to remedy the situation. Their call centre staff merely repeated a script, refused to accept responsibility and have yet to refund me. In short they have obtained money through deception.

Would never use this site again

Would never use this site again. Owner cancelled the last two days of our booking saying "there is a conflict". Makes me very nervous that Vrbo allow this behaviour. Was left scrambling to get alternative accommodation.

Host indignado

Hola, soy un anfitrión de Cerdeña que está muy indignado con vrbo y todo su departamento de atención al cliente por algunas de sus conductas, puedo decir en este punto desplazarse.
Ante las miles de llamadas telefónicas y varios correos electrónicos a los que nunca respondí para resolver el litigio de un pago que no me había emitido Vrbo, recurrí a un abogado y a una asociación de protección al consumidor para obtener apoyo legal. Me estoy poniendo en contacto con todos los anfitriones indignados como yo que conozco y ya son varios y no sólo en Cerdeña. Si estás interesado puedes contactar conmigo por privado. The worst experience in my life

The worst experience in my life. I wanted to change my phone number on vrbo since my phone got stolen and I can not order a new simcard with the same number.

That is appearently an impossible task for VRBO, so now I used 2 x 2 hours solving something that ends up in me having to create a whole new profile - thanks for nothing - thanks for bad accent - thanks for a huge phone bill calling USA from Denmark in Europe.

Lanzarote Moon Suite, located on a rubbish tip.

Lanzarote Moon Suite. Not impressed, very poorly refurbished. You do not rent the whole villa just the rooms the owner thinks you should get, many rooms locked. No sign of an agent, when contacted we were sent 2 pages of house rules. Oven does not work, bbq only usable when no wind, and I hope you like cheap Ikea coz this place is decorated from their budget bin. A very expensive villa with a lack of amenities situated in and surrounded by what looks and feels like a scrap yard, rubbish all around. We would never rent this again and recommend you don't either.

Disappointed

Booked a 3 night stay in London for a celebration for my daughter. We had problems with the cooker it tripped all the electrics three times and also explained about some other issues. The host agreed to pay for a take away and then did not follow though. I spoke to VRBO customer services 3 times to no avail. The host said I was dishonest! No welcome / introduction / instruction book. Bedding not ironed, smelt damp, could not open patio doors, toilet seat broken and no bins for GW. VRBO customer services did nothing to assist. They are pointless to be honest. Stick to hotels! Almost forgot, the small lawn area was 12" high and unkept. Avoid VRBO there is no "Book with confidence".

Dont book with vrbo as we had pd a deposit for a villa tried to pay the balance 3 weeks ago and couldnt as accoedimg to them there was a global syatem problem tried to conact host with no anwaer either in the end up we had to get somthimg else and cancel our
booking as to which with vrbo i was just gettimg the run arouns from vrbo qwho kept.sayimg it was with there tec team with a company like that u wouod think it would be fixes asap so with can we lost £750 so i definetly wont be booking with them again

Vrbo Deposit lost beware!

I tried to book a vacation in Beary Happy Cabin. Looks lovely.
Booked through Vrbo.
Then resort shift us to much inferior cabin .
So cancelled as vrbo assued me I could.
Now it appears the resort booking policy says the can keep my deposit.
Ripped of vrbo is a front for poor poor quality vendors.
Keep away from Vrbo

Do not book a villa through vrbo, sadly we did, we arrived booked a villa with a private pool in Tenerife, it was worn dirty and the pool wasnt private at all. The owner spoke french and Spanish but not english, the toilet lid was dirty and stained the carpet worn out, the sunbed covers were very faded and old the shower cubicle was awful and dirty, the sheets mismatched brown with burgandy. We didnt feel comfortable to put our bags on the floor so we left Vrbo didnt respond to any emails, we drove round and finally at 6pm found a hotel for our weeks holiday. The next day i called vrbo they wanted me to go back to take photos. The rooms were the upstairs of the house and behind a security gate we couldnt get in. Vrbo were totally unhelpful i put in a complaint still no response

"Book with Confidence"...that Vrbo will be useless

Oh dear. If only I'd read Trustpilot before booking on Vrbo..... OK, here goes. It says on the website "Book with confidence". Yes, well, that's one of those ambiguous statements that can be taken either way. With Vrbo, you can book with confidence that, at the drop of a hat, they'll leave you in the lurch, with nil support and an uphill fight to get your money back from them. But I digress: I booked a trip to Paris for a big birthday for my wife from 25th through 29th May, taking our kids, their partners and the grandkids on what should have been a five star trip. Unfortunately, being a bloke, I then let the side down by having a heart attack at the beginning of March. "Never mind", I rashly thought, "I'm well inside the cancellation period, so I'll get a 100% refund". The apartment owners were understanding, and wished me well. Vrbo.....? Different story. Six case numbers, multiple contacts later, and I still hadn't got a refund, more than one and a half month's later. I'd raised the issue with my credit card company to get them onside, and contacted the apartment owners one last time to get their help. This worked, and I finally got a refund yesterday. DO NOT BOOK WITH VRBO......I'd give them no stars, but it's not possible
