Yorkshire Tea please!
Our first experience of a Warner's Hotel was at Thoresby Hall last year and it was wonderful, we had an amazing room and the food was great, at the time the activities were included and we really enjoyed archery and shooting.
Our second trip was to Bodelwyddan and whilst we enjoyed a break away from the kids it wasn't the same wonderful break! A tip for those going would be to take some tea bags, they don't have any Yorkshire tea available and I missed having a decent cup of tea. We were supposed to have robes in our room but it turned out that you have to request them now... I also don't appreciate having to help myself to jam or marmalade out of a bowl shared by everyone else in the restaurant!!
The spa facilities were a little tired, a steam room that wasn't very steamy and lockers that didn't work. It turns out that the activities like archery which we enjoyed before are no longer free!
It's not a hotel I would stay at again even though the staff were friendly and we met some nice people. It does feel as though Warner's are cutting back on the experience which is disappointing because ultimately customers won't return...
Visited Littlecote House
Visited Littlecote House. Hotel is tired and in need of significant refurbishment. Reception staff unresponsive and manager seemingly not available. Raised issues but no-one came back to us. Spa closes at 4.45pm!! Tennis Courts dangerously unplayable. Golf putting, bowls etc not maintained. Food and service in restaurant ok. Entertainment variable - one act was awful with many people leaving early. Underwhelming. We left a day early, and were not even asked why or whether we had enjoyed our stay. Seems to me that there is significant cost cutting, particularly in terms of maintenance, staffing, training and facilities. It's a pity, the venue could have been outstanding with more investment, management and attention to detail.
Lakeside.…
Been going to Lakeside hayling island for many years but so many cutbacks. The entertainment team we hardly saw except for Jay who works hard all day the rest only appeared first night and last night, never that friendly. Alway long breaks with nothing going on in the evenings. Wednesday night was a country singer who was awful. The best we saw was Ricky Salez and Country Joe but they are in in the bar area, what's that all about, only saw the entertainmentmanager twice all week.
. Never speaks... The dining room is dirty tables never wiped and food on the floor on monday that was still there Friday. Counter top by tea machine swimming in milk and water. Tables very sticky, we cleaned our own. The chalet was good and clean, lunchtime menus are a waste of time. They can't even make a cheese sandwich. They can't even give a jug of water on tge table. And when the fish ran out at one end was told would have to go to the other food station. Ok if you can walk properly, I can't..why can't they top it up. We have always recommended Warners to friends but will have to think twice now. Need a good shake up and decent managers.
Unpleasant & inconsiderate company
Booked a 3 night stay for March 2026. Unfortunately I broke my foot, 2 weeks before we were due to go. Warner said they could not change the dates, as I hadn't paid the extra £40 protection (along with a further £35pp admin fee) basically they haven't profited enough from my misery. Therefore we had to go or lose the total amount. We went and couldn't use the spa/swimming pool, tennis courts, axe throwing, walking, dancing etc....In fact the only facility I could use was the lift and that was out of service within hours of arrival. Warner is Primarily concerned with making money at the expense of others misfortune. Then when I complained offered £100 off of my next stay. Would have been easier and cheaper to just have moved the dates!!! Never again
Avoid at any cost! So many beautiful hotels around!
I stayed at Warner Hotels – Bodelwyddan Castle with my husband from 6–8 March 2026 and unfortunately the experience did not match what was advertised.
The castle looks beautiful from the outside, but inside the hotel felt extremely dated and overcrowded. The majority of guests appeared to be much older, many using mobility scooters, which made the public areas difficult to move around and not the relaxing atmosphere we expected.
Our standard room in the main building was very basic and outdated, more like hostel accommodation than a hotel stay in a historic castle.
Shortly after arrival, I went to reception to raise my concerns about the room and overall atmosphere. I asked why the room was so dated and whether the hotel mainly catered for older guests. The staff member simply apologised but did not offer any solution, alternative room, or mention the “first stay satisfaction” policy. This was very disappointing, as the issue could have potentially been addressed at that time.
The spa facilities were also poor, with a small pool and worn, mouldy sun loungers. Breakfast was limited and did not match what was advertised on the website — items such as smoked salmon were not available.
Drinks are not included and are expensive (around £10 for a small glass of wine), which adds significantly to the cost.
Customer service after the stay has been equally disappointing. I was eventually contacted by a representative from customer relations (Sharon), who advised that we should have stated that we were leaving the hotel at the time in order to receive any resolution. This is unreasonable, as we had already raised our concerns on arrival and were not offered any help, alternatives, or information about such a requirement.
It is not acceptable to expect guests to abandon their stay in order to be taken seriously, especially when concerns are raised appropriately at the start.
Overall, it feels like the company invests heavily in marketing, but the actual experience does not reflect what is promised. We feel that our holiday time and money were wasted and would not return.
Very disappointing experience
Very disappointing experience – not as advertised
I stayed at Warner Hotels – Bodelwyddan Castle with my wife from 6–8 March 2026 and unfortunately the experience did not live up to expectations.
The building itself looks impressive from the outside, but inside the hotel feels dated and overcrowded. The atmosphere was not what we expected for a relaxing break, with most guests being significantly older, which made the overall environment feel quite limited in appeal.
Our room in the main building was very basic and outdated, not what you would expect from a hotel marketed as a castle stay.
My wife raised concerns at reception shortly after we arrived, but nothing was done apart from a simple apology. No alternative options were offered, which was disappointing.
The spa facilities were below expectations, with a small pool and tired-looking seating areas. Breakfast was also limited, and some items advertised on the website, such as smoked salmon, were not available.
Drinks are not included and are expensive, which adds significantly to the overall cost.
Overall, the hotel feels very different from how it is presented online. Unfortunately, we would not return.
Great Location - Truly awful food
We visited Cricket St Thomas Warner Hotel for a 3 night break having visited the hotel some 21 years ago. The room we had was amazing, the grounds were beautiful and the staff were friendly and helpful. Paid for lunches in the cafe areas were very good and reasonably priced. So why the low score - well the food included in the deal was truly awful. I can honestly say it was the worst food I have eaten at any establishment I have ever stayed at. Breakfast was a buffet which had low quality food which was cold with leather bits of bacon, often pale looking cheap sausages and fried eggs which were not really fried at all. Dinner was table service for starters and pudding with a buffet for the main meal which was beyond disappointing. Our first evening we ordered garlic mushrooms which arrived in a breakfast bowl with a weird curdled slightly garlicky sauce, and it was cold. We had no further starters and stuck to getting a bit of salad. The buffet generally consisted of a roast with roast potatoes like bullets, overcooked veg and not much else. Pudding was terrible - I had a cheese board which had cheddar which had obviously been left out, mouldy grapes and stale biscuits. I also had a sloppy treacle tart which was described as having an almond brittle but arrived with blanched flaked almonds on top. We also had a banoffie tart which has tough pastry, a runny soup like mixture in it with squirty cream on top. Not the food that shows in their brochure or on their TV adverts with chefs perfecting amazing looking food. There seemed no point in complaining as there was nothing else to eat there and it wasn't the staff's fault, they have to work with what they have. It seems that Warner have decided that they can make alot of extra money by serving what can only be described as school dinners done badly. Very disappointing and totally ruined the stay. I cannot say what other Warner hotels are like as I have not been to any of them, but based on this experience I wouldn't want to try.
Hotel Warner Wales Bodelwyddan
We booked a three night stay at the Wales Bodelwyddan hotel from Friday 13 until Monday the 16th. We booked this to celebrate our wedding anniversary. In arriving at the garden lodge which we paid £887. On Friday the foom was freezing. We phoned the reception and they told us to make the setting on the thermostat, it had no effect. Phoned again. Maintenance arrived checked the electric fire, it wasn’t working, checked thermostat and blowers not working, he said he would check and return, he didn’t return. Called again after several hours a portable radiator arrived, not effective in a two room apartment, called and told give it time to warmup, called again later then another radiator arrived, also asked for over blankets for the beds as they were cold, one blanket arrived cold and damp, sent it back, two blankets arrived also cold and damp. Returned them. Saturday we have been enjoying the facilities, we went out in the car to keep warm. We called reception and discussed the total situation but no further response to improve things. Sunday we decided after all the frustration and stress we decided to return home. At the reception we explained why we were living and how disappointed we were. We asked for a refund for one day as we were going home they offered us only £50. They then offered an alternative room for da. We said why wasn’t we offered that on the Friday. The was a complete lack of communication from the between. They apologised. We asked againf for a refundof one day but they refused. Would we recommend them certainly not. John and Jean Daley The manager contacted us and offered if we rebooked for three days they would give us a fourth day free, we refused the offer. On the 17th March they have offered us a refund of one third of the original price and apologised again. We have accepted the offer. I must say that if they were more receptive for a discussion on the day we were leaving there would we know need for e mails and this notice with Trust Pilot. We are pleased communication was achieved. Thank you the Management at Warners.

Booked a break 5 hours drive away…
Booked a break 5 hours drive away specifically for the entertainment choice. The entertainment has been changed to something I wouldn't travel 1 hour for let alone 5 hours. Spoke to a lovely girl on the phone but really was no real help. So I can either pay more to change my break or stick with a break I never would have booked so not happy
Booked a short break at Corton Coastal…
Booked a short break at Corton Coastal Village. Unfortunately we had an accident last week so couldn’t go. I asked if I could either get my money back or change the date of our break. I was told that as I hadn’t taken out their insurance I couldn’t do this.
First time I have tried to book with Warners, it will now be the last time. Very disappointed.
Been trying to phone up all morning
Been trying to phone up all morning. Should have been going to Thoresby hall on Monday 9th but my other half is ill, with Sickness & Diarrhoea. You would think someone would answer.
What a way to to run a Business.
W stayed at Bodelwyddan Castle Hotel…
W stayed at Bodelwyddan Castle Hotel from 2nd March to 6th March 2026 and had a wonderful holiday. The Hotel is wonderful with beautiful extensive and well kept gardens. Our room was clean, comfortable and warm. The food in the restaurant was hot and well cooked with plenty of choice. Entertainment was excellent . The only downside we found was on the Wednesday evening when we entered the Mulberry Suite to watch The Jersey Boys film which was due to start at 8.30 pm.We arrived just after 8pm to find the building empty and mostly in darkness. The only toilet with a light was the disabled. The room was also cold.Other guests started to arrive but still no member of staff appeared.A notice explained if you wanted a drink to scan the QR code and a member of staff would bring your drinks as the bar was closed. The QR code didn't work so we had to go across to the main building to order drinks. The waitress who brought them seemed very suprised at the lack of staff and how cold it was.Shortly afterwards a member of staff came to turn the fire on follwed by another member of staff who turned the film on.After that no one else appeared. Other than this we had a perfect holiday and look forward to returning'

Beware
Beware - If you book a spa break and they decide to close the spa - tough cookie you can't cancel and you won't get any money refunded. We have stayed at several Warner hotels ovet 20 years and been to Thoresby Hotel at least 5 times. I booked a 4 night break to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. The hotel and spa were being refurbished and their website stated it would be completed by the end of January. 7 days before our visit they sent an email 'counting down to your break', and on the 3rd page it said unfortunately due to essential maintenance the spa would be closed from 23/02/3026 to 27/02/2026, the entire length of our stay. I contacted Warners and asked to cancel and be refunded. No, they wouldn't do this. We had no option but to go for the spa break without a spa. At the hotel they stated the refurbishment had been completed and the spa reopened the previous week. Yet they needed to carry out essential maintenance a week later ??? On the 2nd day of our stay they put a letter under our room door apologising for the spa being closed and offering us £15 per person discount if we booked another break - not likely. After complaining to the Duty Manager we left after two nights and obtained a refund equivalent to half of the original cost. Compensation has been refused for the lack of spa facilities - apparently these are subject to availability. The notice as you enter the grounds states ' Thoresby Hall home of the Blue Room dining and The Spa. Their website states - 'Everything taken care of. Enjoy the freedom to savour every last detail and leave with that special glow, with breakfast, dinner, entertainment and a luxury spa included in our price'.
We didn't leave with a glow!! Shoddy customer service and misleading advertising. A birthday celebration ruined, we will not stay at a Warners Hotel again.
Be Very Mindful And Wary of Warner's
My wife and I booked a 3 day break at Warner's Thoresby Hall 27th Feb there was no way to book a room with walk in shower on the site so had to phone head office who explained that rooms were not allocated until the week before and special requests attracted an additional charge £20-00 to pre book which we did were allocated a room number and paid. Upon arrival we were met at the gate given a key card and proceeded to the room "Behold" no shower so no facility for my wife to use as she is disabled and cannot access a bath. A return to reception reveals a lady who insistently advises all is full and persistently asked what we wanted her to do as she has no rooms, getting a little annoyed we eventually(40 minutes later) attained attention from a manager who undertook transfer to a room with the facilities pre-paid for Agreed to refund the pre book fee and issued a new room access/charge card, Throughout our stay the charge card room number was refused at bars and restaurants and each time we had to explain the issue. On our return home we find charges to our card for a room we did not occupy and no credit for prebook charges We reported back on two mediums but to date 6th March we have no response .
We had booked evening meals Market Kitchen, it took a while to find on the lower ground floor were shown to table and ,that was it, the place was heaving with people all pushing to access the bits they needed and it proved almost impossible to guide my wife through the morass and carry two plates (she walks with a stick) by the time we were done food was cold and we were both shattered , There is no assistance for anyone every aspect is serve yourself, We were fortunate to book the blue room for meals after that first disaster but that costs an extra £54-00 a day for dinner and breakfast service. The evening entertainment theatre is likewise very crowded and dimly lit three people tripped and fell over steps in the time we were there.
Whilst Warner's appear to aim at the older generation if you have any sign of infirmity or age related instability this is not the place to stay You also need to be a wiz with mobile apps and q codes to find out anything which is going on
On my two trips using Warner I found…
On my two trips using Warner I found the disappointment in a different way
The 1st trip room is comfy & clean The restaurant is poor in need of a good clean with the food not very nice.
My 2nd trip the room was very dirty and woken-up at 6 am on my 1st night (delivery) my 3rd night 530 am Biffa bin collection,
Restaurant was of better standard but still had a few poor points dirty glasses the main one.
IF I COULD LEAVE NO STARS I WOULD…
IF I COULD LEAVE NO STARS I WOULD SHOCKING COMPANY. YOU THINK YOU ARE GETTING A ONE OF A KIND SERVICE BUT THEY ARE MONEY GRABBERS AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS.
Thoresby Hall Hotel
Thoresby Hall Hotel, Nottinghamshire.
9th February 2026, room 254
This Hotel has been my preferred choice for some time; however, I visited on the 9th February 2026 and was slightly disappointed that the hotel had undergone a refurbishment and altered the buffet layout in the dining hall/restaurant. The old layout and food quality was far superior before they changed it to the present set up it really is a case of 'If it's not Broc Dont Mend It' because of the new setup, there were long queues to select your food, along with queues to get into the dining area. They need to be SMARTER at getting guests seated. Unfortunately, I am returning in November, not really looking forward to it!

I really enjoyed my recent 3 night stay at the Bodelwyddan Castle in North Wales. I especially liked the location and the nearby parkland which was good for walking about. I found the staff super friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Food was really good and I quite liked the buffet arrangements for breakfast and evening meal. I stayed in the main building and found the room to be absolutely superb.
