Absolutely one of the worst chat apps to exist. It's only reason for success is purely because it was one of the first movers in China and relied heavily on government backing later to go international.

For example, it's 2026 now and wechat still crashes with every update. It corrupts your saved chats even on MINOR version updates. It corrupts your saved media the same way. Yet, this is the main app used by businesses for almost everything.

Furthermore, Wechat itself does NOT respect user settings. I've clearly TURNED OFF auto-updates and yet it still forces updates on me.

There's also issues with chat syncs and payment methods lagging at the worst possible time. Even Apple Pay and Apple Wallet are fully capable of offline payments!

I can go on for a long long time, but safe to say I'm baffled the entire china population

WeChat is an absolutely crap program. In the channels, it shows a large amount of animal cruelty. The same assholes that bring on the cruelty should be treated just as cruelly, if not more. I deleted the crap software, and it should be banned around the world.

Horrible. Déjà pour s'inscrire.. il faut trouver un autre utilisateur qui doit scanner un qr sur mon tél. Interface dégueulasse. Et ça coupe sans raison. Aucun moyen de rétablir. Et bien sûr big brother vous surveille et censure.
PS : la version actuelle 8.0.62 de wechat dispo sur le play store est buggée !!! il faut aller chercher la 8.0.65 sur le site de weixin qui a corrigé le pb ; mais attention, si vous changez de tél, ils vous interdisent pendant 1 mois !! une daube

pour créer un compte il faut être parrainer par une personne qui a deja l 'appli et qui doit scanner votre QR code ! après plusieurs manoeuvres sur le portable , wechat à fonctionné lors de mon séjour en Chine , mais que 2 jours , ensuite je recevais des messages mais je ne pouvais plus y répondre . Je suis passé par tous les outils de corrections via la restriction apparue sans raison crédible mais rien n 'y a fait ! Déplorable !

WeChat is ignoring a hacked account of a minor with documented extortion. No action after multiple legal documents. My 14-year-old son's WeChat account (ID: crimsonari) was hacked and forcibly converted from the international version to the Chinese Weixin platform.

The hacker changed the phone number and identity documents, and even demanded money to return the account – clear extortion.

We have submitted:

Passport (used at registration)

Guardianship document (C4)

The phone number and Facebook account used during initial registration

Screenshots of the extortion conversation

We've sent multiple certified emails to Tencent:

–✅ No response. No action. No care.

We even attempted to call their international line, but they only speak Mandarin and refused to transfer us to a human assistant.

This case involves a minor, identity theft, and digital blackmail — and Tencent is ignoring it.

We are preparing formal legal complaints to data protection agencies and the Chinese embassy.

the only reason i use it is china didnt block it and it is the only app chinese can use.
- file trasfering is corrupted, you can not trust wechat to save it
- dont believe your phone and your mac will syncron, they will not
- accepting phone calls are bugged on iphone (many iphones i have used all the same) sometimes two accept are shown and it's like gambling to select which one you click on.
- calls will be disturbed by gsm calls (not like whatsapp)
- carplay and others are not working since you can only call and speak and hear if the screen is on and the app is running (not when you put your phone aside and the screen is off).

We chat very reliable and easy to use quality of this very good.

Tried more than a dozen times to log in after signing up with the correct region correct Gmail account n correct password. Also tried to receive SMS to log in, no success. All I use this app is to speak with a family member. You know why this app makes users life difficult is because you are not in China with a Chinese sim logged onto a Chinese network, unless you open up your entire life story n drop all guards you might be lucky to use this user unfriendly app.
Their interest is steal information n it is in all areas of Today's life.

once you open the account and close the app for any reason it is impossible to retrieve the account .I have tries every way they suggest and still no luck. god help you if you forget your password. This app is connected to Icsee cameras and you can only receive alarm notifications through this app .

It works fine until you need to restore access or just have access switch between an old and a new phone. You will never complete the process and your number is already used. Pathetic, I think.

What went wrong , that's a laugh. Old phone broke forgot password requested and SMS received it inserted it then it asks to scan a code with old phone a car ran over, that's not all spent an hour waiting for a ticket number don't know where to insert that, also says to get wait for it to friends on WeChat to certify you would if I could get on to WeChat to do this, is this platform mad or what.

Terrible application. Lost all my chat history of 5 years as a result of swapping phone. Use it on mobile and three pc-s. The pc's are not synchronizing automatically.

took more than a year and still cannot retrieve back my account as a non china user. they actually discriminate against nonchina users and their backend support took weeks and months just to reply an email without proper instruction and solutions. they just sent me a chinese sms which i cant even read and theres no way to get back my account as well. i have open tons of tickets but none of them can resolve and choose to resolve. they just leave it as it is because i am a nonchina user

Chinese Spyware, probably the worst data kraken of all apps. Dangerous app. Stay away.

I paid for my membership. I found out it was a scam. I wrote to about 200 women that I filtered out. Almost no one wrote back. Some fictitious people communicated with me, as is known from other dating sites. In addition, I was approached by a number of beautiful women who were not interested in getting to know each other. Through some procedures I have verified that it is a scam. People living in my country (Czechia) don't speak czech etc.. I cancelled my membership. Now I have 89 unread messages from beutiful women (robot) which I cannot read.

Was installed on an old phone, which I no longer have, It says I need the old phone to log in with my new phone. Or get WeChat contacts to send a message, but I don't have any. So I'm locked out forever. Complete piece of junk

WeChat has now become impossible to use. Every time I add a new contact and send them messages, my account is blocked for 24 hours 'because I have sent too many messages to strangers'. It's absurd. It's also useless to fill out the support form to ask for the account to be unblocked because they don't reply. The only way to unblock the account is to ask a friend who is subscribed to WeChat.
So if it is not possible to add new friends and chat with them, what kind of chat is it?
