Reliable letting agency
Very good experience overall, mainly related to the property manager, Kirsty MacMillan, that dealt with me over the last two years of my tenancy. I had quick answers to my questions, problems were fixed in a timely manner, I felt I was supported. I am not giving 5 stars because, unfortunately, it was not quite the same for the first two years.

Great Experience with Western Lettings
For the tenure I and my family were in the flat, we had an absolute great experience with the Western Lettings team as they were very reachable and always promptly resolved our concerns. They were very fair in returning our deposits back on time. They also extended notice to accommodate us until we found a suitable place.

Great letting agency
We had a great experience renting with Western Lettings for just over a year. Throughout our tenancy, they were always professional, helpful and extremely efficient. Any issues were raised and sorted immediately, unlike previous letting agencies we've dealt with in the past. They were also very accommodating for pets, something which we've struggled with when finding rented properties. Western Lettings are a breath of fresh air in the rental market and I would recommend them to anyone looking to rent in Glasgow.

Overall good agency
In general I had a really good collaboration with this agency. Lauren was quite helpful and replied to my emails quickly. My only issue was the boiler, the replacement of which took more than expected. But overall I would recommend Western Lettings Agency

Thank you for your review, Elena. I have had a little look back on the boiler replacement issue raised and believe the boiler was replaced exactly one week after you reported the issue to us. Whilst a replacement was required, your hot water was working so no alternative accomodation was arranged. We are are sorry we were not able to deal with this sooner for you, but our contractors will always complete as quickly as they can. Wishing you well in your new home.
Company deceived us
Company deceived us. They rented us a luxury high rise apartment for 1900 GBP per month. They failed to tell us that the place had been allowed to run down so that all carpet, furniture and appliances were more appropriate for a flat in the inner city. As we were moving from North America they also failed to inform us of the need for tenants to pay the Council Taxes - ours were an additional 357 GBP per month.
They also neglected to tell us that we were moving into a construction zone. Horrendous noise from 8 AM to after 6 PM some days. Do not trust this company when you are renting.

Thanks for your feedback Esther. It is really disheartening to read how dissatisfied you are with your experience of living in one of our most spectacular managed properties. You have raised issues with the standard of fixtures and fittings, and with not being informed about your liability for council tax and the ongoing exterior cladding works. I will respond to each of these in turn.
I’d say that describing the property as “run down” is a little unfair. While there is an element of subjectivity involved, I’d describe the furniture and fixtures are commensurate with the standard and style of the penthouse. Perhaps some of the items are a little older than you would have liked, but they cannot be described as low quality. The kitchen appliances, for example, are Bosch and the bathrooms sanitaryware is Twyford.
I know that you secured the property while living in Florida, so were unable to visit in person. However, you were able to view the virtual tour, which fairly represents the interior. Also, there was always the option to have someone local view the property on your behalf.
We’ve never before been accused of not informing a tenant about their liability for council tax. In our defence, the council tax band for each property is listed on our website. Also, the liability for utilities and council tax is covered in the “tenant moving in” section of our website under “Your Journey to Becoming a Western Lettings Tenant”. Our tenant welcome letter, which you received by email, states that we will inform the council tax office of your move date. Furthermore, your property manager emailed you one week prior to your move date to re-iterate that you were responsible for the council tax.
I understand your exasperation with the cladding works, especially as they were working in the vicinity of your apartment much of the time you were living there. The cladding replacement work is essential, and we were aware that it was on-going. However, it had not been an issue for previous residents because the work was not taking place at the level of the apartment. Perhaps we should have been more mindful of the progress of the works in relation to the position of the apartment. Indeed, when we marketed the property after you vacated, we were careful to point out the cladding work to the incoming tenants.
I am sorry that you didn’t have an ideal experience at the property, but we did not deceive you.

Wonderful to work with
We lived in a flat managed by Western Lettings for four years, and moved out just two weeks ago from when I’m writing this. They were wonderful. They always took care of things when something broke or failed, and sent the right people to look at the situation and fix it. They were always kind and helpful, and polite when they came to inspect. I recommend them to anyone who owns or lets a flat.

Very good company
We think that western Lettings have been a good company. Slight hesitation in giving 5 stars as we had an incident last November regarding a hob being replaced that took slightly longer than it should have resulting in the tenants not having the hob replaced prior to Christmas. We felt embarrassed as landlords but part of the problem was that the electrician checking the wattage did not thoroughly check the electricity resulting in the hob that was delivered could not be fitted. When checked again it had been a mistake and so the delay in fitting the hob could have been avoided. But these things happen and we offered compensation to the tenants for the inconvenience. Eventually it was fitted but not until the week between Christmas and New Year
Other than this we have found them to be a reliable company in which to do business with.

I understand the incident with the hob in your property took longer than it should have however, I believe it was the engineer from John Lewis who provided the incorrect information and did not check the wattage correctly. I believe our appliance engineer and electrician both confirmed the original hob could be installed but the engineer from J.L disagreed, which was later confirmed to be incorrect. We would hope that would not impact your thoughts on us as your letting agent.
