We instructed WJM in Edinburgh to handle a contested Will involving an elderly relative. Following an initial meeting with a partner, the day-to-day management of our case was handed over to lesser experienced assistant. Over the course of 6 months following the instruction, we experienced significant issues with the availability of the partner, (there always seemed to be more important clients ) the quality of work and escalation of costs.
When we attempted to raise these concerns through WJM’s internal complaints procedure, our experience was that the statutory complaints process designed to protect member of the public from Inadequate Professional Service (IPS) was not adhered to by the senior managing partners and we were threatened with litigation.
Due to the breakdown in service, we formally escalated the matter to the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission (SLCC). The SLCC has now accepted 17 distinct complaints regarding Inadequate Professional Service (IPS) for a full investigation.
There are plenty other legal firms in Edinburgh.

The person answering the phone was fairly average. She said that my query would be referred to the team of the particular lawyer I wished to speak to. I didn't hear from them again. Fortunately I found a fantastic firm elsewhere.

By far the worst solicitors we have worked with in the UK. Paid them over £13,000 to handle a dispute and retrospective planning case. They took our money and did not follow up with the planning matter which went horrible and devalued our property and made it unsellable. We lost over £550,000 and had to move. The property is now dormant and not able to be occupied due to the industrial retrospective development. Liam Entwistle and Paul Adams should be held accountable for overbilling and malpractice

As someone else stated before Wright, Johnson & McKenzie are diabolical! Stay away, they almost cost me loosing a property I was trying to buy. They have no clue how other European countries legal system work and worse is that they are not willing to learn. They are inexperienced or at least the ones they assigned to my conveyancing were and ask for absurd documents or contacts from 12 years ago when they were provided with legal translations just becasue they thought they know better. Well stay away or you will be delayed. Needless to say no appoligies for the poor service which is more costly than other better solicitors in the area. Avoid at all costs!

Interested to read the experiences of other clients of this firm seem to be identical to my own. Estate admin handled by a Senior Solicitor at Inverness office. Solicitor's attitude arrogant, high handed, bordering on rude. Has not acted in best interests of estate but just wants to agree and accept what is easiest for him. Comes across as lazy and not actually interested in acting in the best interests of the client.

Terrible service. Arrogant and unprofessional. Didn't follow instruction, didn't present a decent case from my perspective and were far too willing to accept the defence argument (even though it was clearly nonsense) and reach a settlement that did not meet my needs.

I don't want to go into specifice, but had a similar experience to another reviewer. Very unresponsive. Made a supposedly simple situation very complicated. Was initially dealing with a local office but was transferred to far-off office. Desperately over-priced. Huge delays. Many changes of primary contact. A senior partner was particularly unresponsive. I have used other solcitors with good results. WJM areunusually awful. It all made my life very stressful

I approached wjm to prepare a trust to assure some financial security for my disabled daughter after my death. After my initial contact l found the branch that l dealt with unresponsive. Emails were not acknowledged or responded to. Promised return phone calls not made. When the trust document was drafted it was not as had been advised and discussed. No explanation was offered. I used the company complaints procedure which was dealt with by the Glasgow office. After some time and after offering a critique of the report into my complaint (which had found no grounds for complaint) I was finally offered an apology. I now have to start again with another firm.

I used WJM Solicitors for the purchase of my house and they made, what could have been a very stressful process, very easy and pleasant. Every step of the way they were very re-assuring despite a few hurdles that we experienced along the way with my mortgage provider.

I would definitely recommend them for anyone looking for someone to deal with their legal work in buying and selling houses. I dealt with Jenna at the Inverness office and she was extremely helpful through the whole process. I would definitely use them again.
