Don't do it
system is super complicated and training was time consuming and minimally helpful. did not have all the psych assessment tools as promised. customer services is absolutely horrifying. telehealth platform works less than 50% of the time. Patients are not able to easily self schedule. It's just really not a good system for the price. Definitely seems more catered for very large practices. customer service will always tell you that they can't help you and to reach out to another area. This EHR for me was an expensive regret and I'm still trying to cancel as they are difficult to cancel. The keep charging you. Don't do it. There are way better system out there that cost way less and actually are helpful.
Poor training, bait and switch, poor follow-thorugh
1. I have no clue how good the system is because the training is horrible.
2. To switch billing programs, you have to do paperwork with each health insurance company. So 4 months later and my Medicare ERA's are still going to my old program. I emailed the onboarding person who oversaw the process. No response. The person doing the training reached out to her and her response was that it was not longer her problem and I'd have to submit tech support tickets to have it resolved.
3. I created customized documentation templates through DrChrono. AdvancedMD said that I could develop my own templates. What they didn't say was that it would cost $150/hr to have the templates I create put into a different format so you can print the treatment note.
4. You have a set number of hours for training. It's frustrating that this time is often spent trying to figure out why the program isn't working.

My experience with AdvancedMD’s customer service has been extremely disappointing. They make you feel like just another ticket in their system rather than a valued client. Every interaction feels rushed and impersonal, with little effort to understand or resolve issues thoroughly.
To make matters worse, I’ve been waiting for over four weeks for an issue to be resolved, and every time I follow up, the answer is the same: “We do not have a timeline for when this will be solved.” This lack of accountability and transparency is unacceptable.
If you’re looking for a company that prioritizes relationships and treats you like royalty, AdvancedMD is not it.
Overall robust software but not user-friendly - Poor customer service and more expensive than similar platforms.
I do not recommend this software after 10 years of use. Overall, robust with many options and features but usability and service is poor. Most every function takes substantially more steps than other platforms. Simple functions offered by other substantially less expensive software packages are not available. When calling to ask for help, the answer is almost always not offered and suggest to post to their idea share forum. I have items posted from over 3 years ago with absolutely no response from advanced MD despite hundreds of votes from hundreds of other users. I have requested an advisory board of users. The answer "we dont do that". Listen to your paying customers.
in addition, There are some significant safety issues I have come across and 2 patient hospitalizations due to software design failures which I complained about prior to these incidences and ignored.
Overall there is a good base here but it has not improved, only worse with worsening usability and safety. I wish it were easier to shift platforms but we have hired a team to start the process. It appears the cost of this team will be saved by switching to a platform allowing increased productivity.

Not Interested In Helping You
The service person looked into my issue. She told me that the system worked as it was supposed to, and the recent upgrades, making workflow worse and increasing the number of clicks per task, were just how it would be; AdvancedMD was not interested in improving ease of use.
What happened?
I’ve been using AdvancedMD since early 2019, and while there are some aspects of the software that initially seemed promising, the overall experience has become increasingly frustrating. Let’s start with the positives. AdvancedMD does offer some excellent features that were quite relevant and innovative back in 2019, helping us manage our practice's workflow and patient information. However, things have changed drastically, and not for the better.
One of the most glaring issues is the lack of user-friendliness, especially when it comes to creating custom templates. Unlike some of the more intuitive systems out there, AdvancedMD requires a solid understanding of coding to build and modify templates. This is a huge hurdle for practices that don’t have dedicated technical staff. It’s difficult to grasp, and the learning curve is steep, making it more of a headache than a helpful tool.
But what really led to my frustration was the customer service. A couple of years ago, we had a dedicated account representative who was extremely helpful and responsive. Unfortunately, that support has all but disappeared. Now, it takes up to four weeks to get a response if you try to email someone. If you use the live chat option, you’ll be speaking with someone in another country reading from a script – not exactly the personalized service you'd expect for a critical business tool. As a practice that relies solely on this platform for revenue management, this level of support is simply pitiful.
Goodbye, AdvancedMD. Fransico Brothers, I truly hope you can save your sinking ship, but after months of trying to get help and seeing no improvement, I have little hope left. At this point, it's become a serious challenge to rely on a system that used to be a key part of our workflow.
In short, AdvancedMD has lost its edge in user experience and customer service. While the software had potential, the lack of meaningful support and cumbersome features has turned it into more of a burden than a solution for our practice.

Terrible. Horrible on boarding. Expect you to be a computer programmer and do coding for basic functionality in the EHR. Would never recommend it.
Terrible Support/Quirky System/Overpriced!
I have been with Advanced MD for approx 3 years. The Practice Management/Billing software is not user friendly and difficult to learn. When you need support the consistently try to push you into using their billing team to take over your billing, while boasting the ease of use of the software. - Change healthcare is there clearing house. During the cyber-attack, we had to do so much extra work that it put us behind. We had to find workarounds ourselves to get paid. We received almost no support from Advanced MD. I only received some supportive consult after having a fit for weeks. As today 12/13/24, they no longer have phone support. You have to chat with someone, which is time consuming and not helpful. My issue is the EHR not printing properly and I have record requests that I need to fulfil. The chat person could not help me and told me to call. There is no phone support. SO, I reached out to my new (this is #4) sales representative who offers only to put in a ticket. After which I received an email to try to sell me training and to schedule a call. My issue is not a training issue it is a system issue (btw - training is $150/hr). I have been getting a run around for the last week in trying to get help with this. I'm disgusted! If you're thinking about using this system run away quickly! Overpriced, quirky system and zero support when needed!

very user unfriendly and I (an MD) has made many more unnecessary mistakes compared with when I used Practice Fusion. It is dangerous as if you need to do five things to stop your car. This is not the best interest of our patients and Advanced MD has caused a serious emotional distress. I call it less Advanced.
Software times out without autosaving
Software times out without autosaving. Loss of vital patient information in inevitable. I would never recommend this software for that reason alone. The company has been aware of the problem for years. The support community is filled with complaints from providers about the issue. Their failure to fix this inexcusable.
Advancedmd billing......NO NO NO
I went with advancedmd billing. I would not do it again.
You have to sign a one year contract, which I regret.
They write off balances over 90 days, which I regret.
They choose your contact person and in my case would not change even at my early request.

AdvancedMD is a smaller EMR vendor that does not have the band width to help with day to day projects and interfaces.
Our initial sales rep was great at selling us the product, and little after signing us on, disappeared!
They will penny pinch you for every little item you ask and will harass you if you do not sent payment promptly. When it comes to requesting something from them, they drag their feet!
My advice, go with a larger company, although it may be a bit more expensive, it will pay off, rather than going with AMD, because the cost for AMDs will increase every month! Take it from me, I have worked with many EMR vendors, but never one like AMD.
I received a bill
I received a bill, I have no idea who this is or why I was billed. I have medical benefits through my job. As with most companies when I called I was told they are closed. Do not use whomever this is unless you know how you are billed
Broken portal with AdvancedMD = No new clients
I attempted to set up an EHR with this company and at the end of the set-up, when I was ready to go live, I discovered that the portal did not work to connect prospective patients to me. I spent weeks trying to resolve this issue with the company and was told that it was my computer, my Internet, my firewall... I reported the issue of a broken portal multiple times to numerous IT and other AdvancedMD staff with no resolution to the issue. The portal only worked when I had 5 bars for Internet connectivity in a nearby city. As a telehealth provider, I expect many of my prospective patients to be living in rural environments without access to care and will likely also have imperfect Internet connectivity. Because of this serious defect in this EHR service, I canceled the contract with AdvancedMD and have found another EHR provider with a more robust portal.
A horrible Portal with worse customer service
Before beginning the first session, I was instructed to make an account with Wholehealth PLLC (Wholehealth PLLC is a local mental health facility who operates using AdvancedMD as their portal).
Instead of using headway, Wholehealth PLLC had me create an account with them which uses the Advanced MD portal so I could send Dr. Xu all of my info and fill out patient forms as well as confirm my up coming appointments. Since April of this year, I have continued to pay and confirm my appointments with Dr. Xu through headway.
Initially, I asked the Wholehealth team if I should be paying through Headway or directly to Wholehealth PLLC on their AdvancedMD portal. Their exact response per the text messages I still have, " Since you have already enrolled through Headway, your copay will be automatically charged to Headway after the appointment". So I have continued to pay Dr. Xu through Headway. At the beginning of this month, Wholehealth PLLC stopped using Headway which I wouldn't mind except now Wholehealth is saying I have an outstanding balance of $200 for unpaid sessions which I HAVE paid directly to Headway. This is obviously a billing issue with AdvancedMD since AdvancedMD runs all of Wholehealths patient accounts. You'd think it would be a simple billing issue between the two companies, but its been a horrible experience all around.
When I finally get through to someone at AdvancedMD, all they will tell me is that I need to pay my balance if I want to book another session with my provider. I have explained repeatedly and I have even provided documented PROOF that all the sessions they claim I haven't paid, have very much been paid to Headway. I reached out to Headway and they've assured me that I have not only paid for all of those sessions, but that my provider has been paid as well. So why do I owe money? No one has been able to tell me. AdvancedMD just repeatedly says that I haven't paid them and that I need to if I want to book my next session. But I have paid them. I'm not going to double pay my provider when I've already paid for these sessions.
When you have mental health issues, the last thing you want to deal with is this level of frustration and anxiety. I don't blame the staff at my local mental health facility, obviously this is an issue with AdvancedMD being horrible to deal with
One of the most disceitful
One of the most disceitful, dishonest companies I've experienced. Would not do business with or recommend to anyone. As for their service, leaves much to be desired. Their support is full of disgruntled employees looking to avoid helping. They start you off with a low price but increasingly gets higher and higher and higher. Quitting them is very hard they will not give you your records unless you pay them and they will try to get every last penny from your before your leave, in any way possible. This is my own personal opinion.

The company does not care about your business. They are only behind your money. Please, avoid this EMR company if you want to advance with your company.

Don’t get burned by AdvancedMD.
Customer service was not helpful. Our tickets were never completed and always closed without a resolution. Implementation was terrible. We started paying in October never went live and we’re able to get out of our contract 7 months later. We lost thousands of dollars and time. Stay as far away from them as posible.
