The price that was quoted on AmigoAutos seemed really reasonable so we booked it. When we picked up the car from Pulsar Car Rentals we were advised that we would have to pay an extra £200 for insurance and fuel. This is not made clear on AmigoAutos, it only says you have to have a credit card. It doesn't make clear that there has to be around £1000 available on the credit card to leave as a deposit! Also the car wasn't really in the best condition! Not too good really!! :-(

Overall, the car & rental went fine. But when asked if the car should be cleaned, the company renting the car said no, and then charged me 90€ for a "special cleaning" when I returned it. Just don't seem transparent or right to me.
Otherwise good experience

One way charges vary widely, so much that I decided to cancel our second booking as it was more expensive than renting directly from the supplier who was offering comprehensive insurance for less money too!

Tuvimos un problema con la empresa goldcar que desgraciadamente adquirimos desde la pagina web de amigo autos. Fuimos atendidos a primera hora de la mañana, contestan rapidamente y lo mejor de todo saben escuchar y dieron una solucion rapida, mucho compromiso y saber hacer las cosas bien.
De verdad que excelente. Gracias por todo! Volvere a usar la web pero nunca mas con goldcar! Gracias por todo

amigo autos service was of a good standard, apart from emails at 3.30 in the morning asking if I wanted to upgrade my insurance.
Unfortunately, the vendors that amigo autos use are not up to scratch, Firefly car hire in Malaga Airport was a disgrace, and as a result I have lost my trust in both companies and will not use them again.

I was going to leave a review for the car hire company but that seems inappropriate. Amigoautos seem to provide a good service in booking a hire car. I must say I found it difficult to find the car hire office in the station though

1. Waiting time to sign the contract 1 hour !? Come on...it's 21st century !!!
Everything could be done on-line, just take a car, one signature and GO !
2. The biggest surprise was the total cost of rental for our holidays - when they added up cost of service, insurance, child seat and after all VAT that was not nice to spend such amount of money at the beginning of our holidays. That should be visible on-line - it would a lot easier and fair to calculate the cost of rental.
3. Child seat !? Should be in the car ready to use. And it should be in better condition - we paid the price of a NEW child seat where I could get a brand new from any supermarket and it would more comfortable and reliable for our child. The seat we got from you was completely wrecked and unstable while driving.

booked car via Amigo with Firefly. The car was brand new and competitively priced. I opted to take Firefly full insurance rather than Amigo's as the deposit taken was much smaller. This also avoided the hard sell at the airport!

Avoid booking Goldcar though Amigoautos.es
It was not the first time that we booked Goldcar through Amigoautos.es. We had not had bad experiences so far, but this time it has been a very frustrating one:
Car model: we would have had to wait in order to get the car we had booked, so we got one out of the same category - not a big deal yet.
Extra insurance: the lady at the Goldcar at the desk at Malaga airport (her first name is Carmen) first insinuated that we had no choice but to take the additional insurance package ("Relax"). This to us appeared as purposefully misleading.
We had to insist on not taking the insurance package, just to learn that we then need a 1200 EUR deposit - admittedly, this is written in the small print of the Amigoautos terms and conditions - from a credit card under the name of the person who did the booking. No other cards (Maestro; credit card under the name of another person) were accepted. I happened to not have 1200 EUR available on my credit card, so we ended up paying the pricey insurance package without wanting it :-( In sum, the impression is that Amigoautos/Goldcar do everything for customers to take out the extra, optional insurance.
Fuel policy and hidden cost: Upon pickup, we learned that through booking via Amigoautos, we had automatically "selected" a full-empty fuel scheme, which includes about 28 EUR of non-reimbursable "logistics costs". (The Amigoautos contract only refers to a "refuelling charge" not further specified. The Goldcar contract gives further details. None of the two contracts, however, specify the amount which is not reimbursable.) In sum, the impression is that there are hidden costs adding up to the final bill.
The lesson learned: always read the fine print; accept that booking through Amigoautos as intermediary makes the transaction more complicated and customers even more vulnerable. And finally, you may just be better off booking directly with the car hire company, and/or renting from a QUALITY car hire company.

I joke of a company got into barcalona with a young family was meant to collect the car but they close at 11 pm they had my number with the reservation I made and never called me just closed and left Me and 2 other families stranded in barcalona we were going to salou we had to get a taxi each for €200, when I called the next morning they blamed goldcar and goldcar blamed amigo , no one rang me to arrange any sort of solution stay away from these gangsters go with who u know hertz or enterprise etc

when getting a quote for a car rental you are presented with a large choice of companies and prices as well as different modalities of fuel tank use (full-empty or full-full etc.) but it is not clear at all what other charges will the car rental company make on your rental. On the two occasions I have rented I have faced the extra charge of paying a full tank and not always being reimbursed. The trouble is, you don;t know how much this full tank is going to cost you until you are at the car rental service desk. Bottom line is, you pay the cost of car rental PLUS a full tank of petrol, so it's not that cheap after all......

You pay a price on line and when you go to pick the car up there are always extra charges etc petrol ,drop off , insurance!!! Why can't all those prices be added in at the start !!!

the selection and the services provided by AmigoAutos was OK, but the final choice (Goldcar) was extremely poor service: we had to wait almost two hours, even if we had a booked car. The price was different and they did not have GPS-Navigator. Another time, we oversaw that the picking up the car was NOT at the ariport, but accessible with shuttle. This has been (thanks God!) now incorporated on the AmigoAutos web. Still... it would be nice if GoldCar would be better
