Contacted AVVO for legal advice. Rec'd a response from someone who used terms like "LOL","FYI" and appeared to be an 8th grader pretending to be a lawyer. He paid no attention to the headline or post I made in his original answer then contradicted himself numerous times in several follow up comments, all of which had nothing to do with legality or actual law, just opinion and conjecture based on assumptions. I made a comment that his legal advice was poor and his grammar was juvenile and literally within seconds my comment and original post was removed from the site. Then after (or right before) my post was removed he tried to literally troll me on my email with more asinine comments. Is this a joke?

AVVO is not legitimate and from just some quick research, it looks like lawyers.com is aligned with AVVO. AVVO won't allow 1 star reviews for their members. From what I can tell, attorneys can pay to be AVVO members and then they gain the protection of AVVO. If an attorney is a member and/or has five star reviews on AVVO, that means they must be bad attorneys to need AVVO protection. If an attorney or firm is on AVVO, I plan on staying away.

AVVO is not an Objective WEBSITE! I too have had much trouble in getting AVVO to approve ANY less than positive review from me of my former attorney. AVVO kept rejecting my reviews. Then they finally posted a revised review only after days of back and forth responses between them ,me and a 3rd party investigative board... stating we're sorry our team made a mistake. Then almost instantly after my review was posted... they must of notified the attorney...The attorney was allowed to post a very FALSE and degrading of me,Response on the AVVO review I left.( He also called and texted me threats) I calmly submitted my response on the AVVO site, to this attorneys attack of me, pointing out all the inaccuracies and providing proof his statements were wrong, and again AVVO sent me rejections of my response! AVVO now states they DO not allow Reviewers to respond to Lawyers response! They allowed the attorney to post a response that was 3-4 times the length of my review... must of been 3000 words. Clients just cant win with these folks... very, very Biased in favor of its attorneys. I understand AVVO gets compensation from these attorneys that it gives biased Ratings/scores/reviews for. I don't understand why an Attorney General has not stepped in and fully Investigated this Clearly Biased company.. AVVO has harmed so many people who use this site to make life changing decisions of what Lawyer to choose. I know first hand, I used their site to pick this attorney 2 years ago. He was rated 9.4( Outstanding) on their site, with 5 positive reviews( no negative), turned out to be one of the worst Lawyers ever!

I tried to leave a review to a lawyer but AVVO.com keeps denying it. "I already left a duplicate review but AVVO.com is reviewing it within 48 hours but it had been 5 days NO Review was given to the attorney. This AVVO.com is bias, waste of money, and must not be trusted by anybody looking for a refutable attorney. Just go to Yelp and Google reviews more honest to goodness.

Ive tried to leave a review that was negative and it was rejected. I asked why and was told i didnt make it clear that i was a client. It gives you a box to check , the options, client or consultation. I also stated several times that i was represented. My last review they said i was putting their clients in danger for releasing to much information. These people are morons and im reporting them for false advertising. Stay away

This is a fake review site. Ive submitted multiple reviews for different attorneys, some positive, some negative. All detailed and well articulated. Positive reviews are posted instantly. All negative reviews are declined, with a completely fabricated justification as to the reasoning. The only rationale given is noncompliance with their 'community guidelines', with a short nonsensical interpretation of why your honest review did not meet their stipulations.

To the administrators of AVVO - The purpose of a review site is to post factual and informative feedback. Facts are that not every attorney will receive a positive review. Some are not out with positive intentions. Stop masquerading as an honest review site - you're not. Get your site off the web, and stop misrepresenting legal 'help' to the public

How we can trust this platform as a client.
I have a so bad experience with my previous lawyer Michael Romano, I am trying to warn other people and sharing my whole experience and write in details. Avvo declined two times my review. The note is that Michael romani didn't approved your review. How do you expect that a lawyer will accept the bad review. If this platform wants to only showing good reviews, close the review part of your platform and be honest to the users. This is my customer right I should share my good and BAD experiences wit you!!!!!

This site is irresponsible and the jerks that sign up with it are the bottom of the barrel.If you can not read and do not see what others say about it, then you deserve whatever you get out of this site. Remember, a good deal is a state of mind. So if your a fool, than it certainly will not take anyone long to scam you. This site must have really made some users mad, because my information was compromised. In today digital business, this means the site owners did not have the decency to notify me of the breach it sustained, or they compromised my information for other profitable gain, I would not given them a 1 star, but imagine that, before you can proceed, you must hit at least one. There are two kinds of people in this world, one will touch the flame and get burned and learn not to do that again. The other will do it again as if the results will change. Which are you is the question you need to ask yourself if you read more than three reviews and still contemplating.

Do not trust that you will get the whole story from Avvo because like others here that reviewed them, I share a similar experience of not having negative reviews posted. I posted an excellent review of a lawyer on there without problems, however when I tried to post my bad experience with another lawyer it kept getting rejected.

I would not recommend to trust the opinion and ranking of lawyers on Avvo.com. Its already three months I can't submit the negative review to one of the immigration attorneys in LA - Sassoun Nalbandian. Whatever you write, does not meet their guidance. It looks like only positive reviews pass the authorization............ Nonsense!!!!!!!!

Rude, obnoxious, arrogant attorneys.
Attorneys that have No expertise in area of law that the question is about respond Not to answer question just to be rude.
When someone does actually answer question, not legally sound advice.
Don't use this site if you need real help. Reviews don't match up to Real interactions with these attorneys.
I unsubscribed but still getting rude emails. I'm stressed out as it is and these people are Obnoxious.

Do not trust Avvo reviews. My honest review about an attorney is not approved. This very same attorney will keeps deceiving people in need. Avvo should be held responsible for that. They only approve good reviews. This site is not trustworthy -> Community guideline is “do not post bad reviews on a lawyer who pays us money “?

I posted a question and 2 attorneys replied. However, neither one responded what I asked. Need to work on Reading Comprehension skills

One of the lawyers in there responded before fully reading my issue. I have epilepsy for 24 years never controlled by meds because they don't work for me. Now I'm going to my last option which is brain surgery. He said "It depends on if medication controls your epilepsy". I mean really?! I told him the neurologist at an level 4 epilepsy clinic told me no medication will not work for me anymore! When I pointed out to him that I mentioned that and the fact I can't drive ever, take baths or walk anywhere alone he was rude and said "That doesn't mean your disabled" oh yeah sure.. I'll just have friends and family go to work with me.. and he doesn't even know that I've been deemed medically frail by the state which means the state won't even let me do volunteer work. I'm very upset! My life will never be normal again! I have to fear every night before I go to sleep that I might die due to seizures in my sleep, which I have several times a week! My neurologist even pointed out my death rate is higher now.

These people have zero experience. Not one has been able to answer a question. It is all “find an attorney in your area” If that. One answer from an alleged lawyer was so off, I checked with my library reference desk to find I was led in the wrong direction.

I will never trust this site again.

10 or so years ago, you may have got a comprehensive answer. Now it is just a referral service.

I've used Avvo during my Divorce and Custody, needed to find a Lawyer That was experienced and not to expensive. I found one on Avvo, but they did not work out, matter of fact they were horrible. I wrote a review on Avvo about my experience with this attorney. no sooner than I wrote it they emailed about my bad review, the problem with that was, I had sent it anonymously, and to make it worse. Avvo had emailed me to inform me that my review needed to be altered because this attorney had challenged my review. So I wrote another one and two days later it was taken down. They are obviously in bed with these Lawyer's, my advice would be to look somewhere else...

Indeed, Avvo does censor negative reviews of lawyers, I just found that out for myself.

Back on 2018-08-14 I submitted a negative review for a San Francisco lawyer Joseph Antonio Lepera on the lawyer site avvo.com. Avvo confirmation message said "Your review of Joseph Antonio Lepera has been submitted for approval. Reviews are typically approved in 1-3 days."

My review was approved by Avvo, and publicly posted on their site (that I'm not allowed to link to on here) shortly afterwards. That review can still be seen via Google cache today 2019-02-26, but obviously not for long.

That review was visible on there since August 2018 until today (~ 6 months), when I received an email from Avvo with title "Action required: Your review for Joseph Lepera was not approved" with the vague boilerplate text "We are writing to inform you that your review of Joseph Lepera was not approved because it does not meet our community guidelines".

Avvo did not provide a specific reason for why my negative review was censored, and did not send information on how to appeal their decision. The lawyer's public profile went from 5 reviews -- 1 negative (and on top), 4 positive to just 4 positive.

Avvo's removal notice wording is also dishonest since they are not "not approving" the review that they already approved 6 months ago, but removing it post-approval.

Lawyer's profile now looks clean, but other people will likely have the same negative experience as me (or worse), and without any warning, and without the ability to share about it with others on avvo.com as their negative reviews will likely also get censored.

My suggestion to anybody reading this and considering posting a negative lawyer review on Avvo:

If your review initially gets approved like mine, go to The Wayback Machine and save it on there in case Avvo decides to take it down later. If that happens, save it again in that state, and then Avvo's hypocracy will be easy for anybody to see by comparing those 2 versions, and your original review will still be accessible.

And BTW, most of the positive reviews on here look fake. Avvo, are you posting fake positive reviews on here?? That's dishonest.
