What a disappointment, don’t waste your money

What a disappointment! I’ve used BBC Good Food for years… for free. Now that I’ve taken advantage of their £4.99 for a year’s subscription offer, I really wish that I hadn’t bothered! Gone are the good mix of English and exotic recipes that my family and I have enjoyed for years - an example; I wanted to make a spicy minced beef dish, but all BBC Good Food had to offer was a veggie-mince version, with couscous! Isn’t it funny that now, not only do you want to charge us for your recipes, you want to also dictate what we do and don’t make - it’s that BBC attitude again! By all means add to the available recipes, but don’t take others away from your customers. Stuff your ‘political correctness’ I will go elsewhere.. if I can ensure that you don’t automatically take payment from me next year, it’s worth cancelling my bank card just to prevent this. No wonder everyone has lost faith in the BBC.

We're sorry to hear that your experience hasn't met your expectations. We were particularly surprised by your comment about not being able to find spicy minced beef recipes, as the Good Food app currently contains well over 120 recipes featuring beef mince, including a wide variety of cuisines and flavours. With thousands of recipes available across the platform, it's possible that the particular search terms you used didn't surface the results you were looking for, but we'd be happy to help you find suitable recipes if you decide to get in touch with our customer support team.

We'd also like to clarify that BBC Good Food is no longer owned or operated by the BBC. While the brand retains its heritage and name under licence, it is independently owned and run, so the comments in your review regarding the BBC are unfortunately based on a misunderstanding.

Our aim is simply to provide the widest possible range of recipes for all tastes, dietary preferences and cooking styles. We regularly add new recipes to the collection, but we certainly haven't removed traditional meat-based dishes in favour of alternatives. In fact, beef, lamb, pork, chicken and fish recipes continue to make up a significant part of our recipe library.

We're sorry that the subscription hasn't delivered the value you were hoping for, but we appreciate your feedback and wish you all the best with your future cooking.

BBC Good Food has been appalling

BBC Good Food has been appalling. I would have expected better.

I signed up for the magazines with the promise of a saute pan in August 2025. After chasing almost a dozen times, it finally arrived in April/May 2026.

I was notified that I had won an air fryer & that it would arrive at the end of March....it didn't. I chased again & a slow cooker arrived along with the above saute pan. I called to get this sorted in May & was told that they would be in touch to organise sending the correct item & collect the incorrect one....I'm still waiting.

The customer service isdreadful & I am sorely tempted to cancel my subscription.

I signed up for the free sauté pan offer in January 2026 and to this day, I haven’t received the item.

I contacted customer service as I was told it would arrive within 6 weeks, and when that 6 weeks passed, I was told I would be sent a replacement and surprise surprise, nothing has turned up.

I did get a refund quickly after I contacted customer service to let them know my dissatisfaction, and to tell them I don’t believe I was ever going to receive the pan.

It feels like a scam to get you to sign up to get a ‘free item’ which never appears and they’re hoping people can’t be bothered to chase them when it doesn’t arrive.

Absolutely awful company, I hope others don’t fall prey to this scam as well.

I like the app, Customer Service is Shocking

I like the app, I have lots of saved recipes. The problem is their customer service is absolutely shocking. The app is on my I pad, when I try to open it on my I phone I can’t as the reference numbers against my subscription don't seem to match. Have emailed several times but they are next to useless and if you are lucky enough to get a reply, what they tell you to do is nonsense. I will not subscribe anymore through Apple next time, maybe just with an email address, perhaps I can get it on both gadgets next time.

Don't sign up for the free pan offer…

Don't sign up for the free pan offer you won't get it. Signed up for a year for £45 + a free gift pan, after 4 months,end of April and no end of emails eventually managed to get a refund. Absolutely rubbish customer service.

Extrordinarily poor

Extrordinarily poor. I got a subscription that I can not log into, and I cant find a email account to get my money back.

Absolute scam

Absolute scam. Advertised subscription price isn't the real price. Charged five times the advertised price. Wouldn't refund - said I had to go through Apple pay for refund. Avoid at all costs.

Shoddy and unprofessional

Ordered some hot cross buns, due to arrive on Good Friday. As I received no confirmation of courier or delivery time I messaged them, only to be told that it should have been listed as collection from London, not delivery. They offered a full refund, but it's now too late to source a suitable replacement with the right ingredients (only bought them as they were suitable for all the family)

Still not sorted ...

I still use the GF website from time to time as I have always liked the recipes and find the site useful. I notice that there is now a nag prompting users to download the app. I stopped using the app when the app became unusable some years ago, so I am disappointed to find that the BBC have not sorted this out. What is it going to take BBC? Look at all these poor reviews! Can I suggest changing the app provider?

Terrible customer service

This was supposed to be a Christmas present but all information kept bouncing back to my address. I emailed and called several times and eventually requested a refund so I could start again.
4 phone calls later and several follow up emails I still haven’t received my money.
Escalation team is meaningless.

Haven't been able to access my subscription

Haven't been able to access my subscription which was taken out in November 2026. I have been in contact on numerous occasions but it has still not been sorted out. Getting hold of anyone in customer services is a nightmare. I would avoid at all costs.

Zero customer service

This magazine is being let down by Immediate Media who handles the subscription offer. Having tried several times to access the subscription deal advertised in this month's issue, I kept getting a 'try again later' message. Eventually I seem to have subscribed but then realized I'd been charged twice. A phone call (indian call centre so not easy to hear what's being said) initiated a refund and gave me my subscription number as I hadn't had a confirmation email. I've since been charged again so a second call where the handler hung up on me as I questioned what was going on and his comment that confirmation emails take a while to come through. Other communication via the Good Food website or their Facebook page have been ignored. The website says it has live chat, it hasn't. The link to the subscription help site in the magazine doesn't work. I'm very tempted to cancel and just take the hit buying it in the shops. Do disappointing and frustrating at the lack of any customer service.

Disappointed

Was gifted a print and digital subscription in November which I've been unable to activate. Have spent significant time trying to resolve by email and phone but unsuccessful. Tried email with a formal complaint but they have still not addressed the issue.
