It's open, but not for you
When you go there and ask for information, or read the information on the website and app, they tell you about opening hours but don't tell you anywhere that certain times are reserved for specific groups. So you subscribe, you get there and you find out you can't use the facilities and need to go back home. Very unclear and dishonest.

I am writing to express my disappointment with the service I have received so far regarding my baby’s swimming classes.
I registered my child at the beginning of December, and he was scheduled to start on the 5th of December. Unfortunately, he developed a fever, so I went to your facility to inform the reception team. However, I was met with rude behavior, and I was told the manager would contact me. To date, I have not received any communication.
Additionally, I recently discovered that the classes scheduled for the 19th and 26th of December have been canceled without any prior notification. I have tried to contact your team multiple times regarding this matter, but no one has responded to me.
This lack of communication and professionalism is extremely disappointing,

Thank you for your feedback regarding your child's swimming lessons.
I sincerely apologise for the difficulties you encountered. Please note that swimming lessons will take a two-week hiatus for the festive period, resuming on 2nd January. The final session prior to the break is scheduled for today, 18th December, and all Lesson & Courses customers were notified via email regarding the upcoming schedule. We regret any lack of communication regarding this interruption.
Concerning your child's absence due to illness during the first lesson, please rest assured that you may resume their lessons upon their recovery. Their position in the class will be retained unless a written request for cancellation of the membership is submitted. We wish your child a prompt recovery and look forward to their return in the New Year.

I absolutely love this gym! The teachers here are outstanding—knowledgeable, motivating, and always willing to help. Their dedication shines through in every lesson, which are not only well-structured but also highly engaging and tailored to all skill levels. The variety of exercises keeps things fresh, and I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my fitness and confidence since joining. Whether you’re a beginner or more advanced, this gym and its amazing instructors will support you every step of the way. Highly recommended!

Wavelengths has Great pool for fitness swims clean staff can be helpful but unfortunately after all the changes sauna and steam room open new they can't seem to get showers to work properly either not working at all or they are freezing cold but overall would recommend visiting

Wavelengths Leisure Centre…
I’ve been to Wavelengths Leisure Centre a few times now. It’s become frustrating that the Men’s Group changing rooms has been closed. Also there is very limited showers and not all seem to work.
My main concern is the cleanliness of the site. The cleanliness is unpredictable but usually very poor. I often visit Friday / Saturday mornings. The last time i visited on the 11th October i was so disappointed and disgusted that the site would be so bad dirty and uncomfortable (hair in changing rooms, dirty floors, dirty surfaces). i reduced my stay and had to leave after a short while.

Terrible course and unreasonable…
Terrible course and unreasonable cancellation notice of 20 days.
I opted for a swim course for beginners and improvers. There's a lack of safety precautions, no clear teaching, people swimming across lanes.
The class is for a range of abilities but it's clear there are some that need better tutelage to make the pool safe for all.

So far I enjoy swimming at wavelengths
So far I enjoy swimming at wavelengths. Great teacher, though there was a teacher shouting I don't like it and we told her. Toilets are not clean it smells. But in swimming lesson comparing to the one I had previous experience wavelength is a lot better.

the online booking system consistently…mismatched with actual timetable
the online booking system consistently doesn't match the real timetable so I arrive at the centre and am told I can't swim or I have to leave after 10 mins. The floor is always very dirty

Needs a thorough clean and maintenance, good for family swim.
I have been taking my daughters swimming at Wavelengths for about 2 years and the pool and changing areas are in need of a thorough clean and maintenance. We booked the first available session this morning for swim for all and it looked like it had not been cleaned for weeks!! Nappies strewn about, clumps of hair by the showers, feels like the level of care is very poor.
The layout and the pool itself is still really nice and we do enjoy it. Just wish it was not so dirty.

Problems with student membership
I paid for student membership, my documents were accepted, yesterday and today I tried to go to the pool but I could not get in because you have not activated my membership. I am paying for a month's membership and I have already lost two days that should be refunded by Better.

Please be aware that once you join you are not required to wait for your proof of eligibility to be approved before you can use the facilities. You can use the centre with immediate effect whilst you are awaiting your document to be approved. Upon checking our system I can see that your membership is active and up to date so you are able to use this with immediate effect.
If you are experiencing issues using your membership please call Customer Services so they can assist you with immediate effect so you can start to use your membership. Our contact details are at the bottom of our website www.better.org.uk (http://www.better.org.uk/).

I'm a new member
I'm a new member, walked in on Friday night and I was refused access because it was women's night, which apparently runs every friday and was never stated at the time I joined the gym (it doesn't say it on the app, i could only see it on a piece of paper at the entrance of the gym). Friday Night is one of the few nights I can go to the gym because of work, and if I pay for a membership that gives me full access any time and any day, I don't get why I can't access the gym whenever I want (and still pay the same amount). Also the staff wasn't very bothered to explain it to me and just directed me to the paper at the entrance of the gym almost without looking me in the eyes. It's likely I'll cancel the membership and look for a different place.

I am a senior member subject to abuse and discrimination.
I am a senior member. Today I was forced to leave my swimming session because of a huge man (approximately 20st) dive bombed into the fitness pool, narrowly missing me, and then subjected me to a barrage of abuse because I instinctively jumped out of his way. Because I admitted to the manager that I had muttered a swear word under my breath after being continually shouted at and called a stupid cow, the manager said this was now 50:50, and he could not ask the man to leave. He told me I was safe to continue swimming as he was there and would ensure the man didn't touch me. I pointed out that the man was continuing to verbally abuse me, for everyone to hear, after the manager had told him to stop, so how was I to feel safe? He repeated that, unless the man actually physically hurt me, I had to just try to ignore him!
I was also not impressed with the treatment of slow swimmers like myself. While I was happy to move to a 'slow lane' so I did not obstruct faster swimmers, I think we too should be allowed to swim without being obstructed. However, the slow lanes are also used by people learning to swim and people just hanging around chatting in the water so it is impossible to swim continuous lengths. Surely they should be directed to the other pools instead of the fitness pools? I did feel like a second class citizen - I have to respect other people's needs, but mine are irrelevant.
Regarding the threatening behaviour of the other user, until Better are able to provide some assurances that they will provide a safe environment I do not feel able to use this facility.

Low hygiene standards
Dear Better Team,
As I have not received any answer yet privately, I thought of leaving my feedback on Trustpilot.
As a family, we have recently attended Wavelengths for two weeks on Saturdays (on the 6th and 13th of January), but shortly afterwards my husband was diagnosed with a swimmer ear infection, and is still under treatment.
Furthermore, on the 19th my daughter went to Wavelengths to take her first swimming lesson with her class from a local school which I have copied to my private email. Shortly afterwards she developed a bad cough and after about a week an ear infection.
My 7 year old daughter told me that their class was the only one during their time slot at the pool, but a little girl had an accident at the poolside and her urine was pushed into the pool with a bucket of water.
Having said that, I would like to understand how quickly the water is being thoroughly disinfected, and whether it is possible to prevent these accidents with signs aimed at schools and families, so that accidents in the water are prevented.
Recently we had to cancel our reservation, but under these conditions we are not encouraged to return to Wavelengths. We have been in other swimming pools for a long time, and this has never happened to us.

I am very sorry to hear of your family's recent experience at the Wavelengths leisure centre. Our pools use chlorine to disinfect the water and keep this safe for our customers.
Without chlorine, the swimming pool would be a breeding ground for microscopic contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, and algae – making the water extremely hazardous to humans.
Chlorine is also an oxidizer, which means it helps to remove the waste left behind after neutralizing contaminants in the pool. It does this by breaking them apart and forcing them out of the water in the form of a gas. However, we take all customer complaints very seriously and will forward your review for the attention of the centre manager so they can look into this further.
Are you please able to fill out the attached "Request For Further Information" so I can pass on your details to the centre manager so they can respond directly back to you?
