Big Fish - A good choice for an Umbrella Company
Big fish have managed the HR and payroll aspects of my contracting work very effectively. Working through an umbrella company has saved me the hassle of setting up and running my own company. The process has been very effective throughout the past 5 years and I would recommend them as a customer friendly and responsive company. They have always been courteous and responded to queries in a timely and efficient manner.

HMRC had to chase them because they didn't submit my tax code
Big Fish "managed" my pay while i did agency work. when i went to another job I was paid basic rate for six months. I called big Fish and they stated that HMRC had to sort it out.
HMRC said otherwise and described Big Fish as being naughty because they had not informed HMRC when I left. they contacted them and did not get a reply and had to contact them a second time. A basic mistake and unwillingness to help once i had left them put me a few grand out of pocket. The HMRC had to put it right. so much for managing my pay.

Wish I could have given 0 stars, liars with no integrity and obsessed with stealing £5 in an underhand manner. Avoid or be very watchful!
Thanks for the response big fish, but you again wish to mislead. This was the 4th occasion I’d had to contact you about the same issue. I did reach out and you ignored me and instead went to my employer thinking you’d get me in trouble for not accepting the £5 charge. You’d agreed not to do this 3 times, and there you were again.

This company have provided me with a great service, any problems I've had have always been ironed out efficiently. Was initially unsure how this would all work as I'm new to the contracting world but it has been pretty seamless.

What started off a good experience has turned into a nightmare!
I am constantly having to chase for payments some of which were only paid when I queried them several times. Now I have been told I have been overpaid but no one with any authority wants to speak to me to explain it! I have been waiting over two weeks for the pay-roll manager to call and explain.
