Cloe was extremely helpful going beyond her remit. I had recieved an email telling me that I needed to book an MOT for my car by 6th October. I went in to book it and Cloe informed me that it had to be done by 27th September. She managed to fit it in for 22nd, she collected my car and returned it after. This I think exceeds all expectations and I'm do grateful to her. This is very much a wonderful experience from the staff at Brayleys. A huge thank you to Cloe

A far from great experience
Unfortunately, what should have been an exciting experience buying a new car has turned into an incredibly frustrating one.
I completely accept that delays and unexpected issues happen when preparing a used vehicle. My complaint isn't simply that there has been a delay; it's the way virtually every setback has been communicated and handled.
My concerns actually started at the test drive. The car had 0 miles of range showing, meaning warnings were repeatedly sounding throughout the drive. I was told not to worry as the car would have more range than it showed, but it made it unnecessarily difficult to relax and properly experience the vehicle.
When discussing the deal, I was seated at a small table by the entrance while seemingly every question or negotiation had to be relayed by the salesperson to somebody in another room and then brought back to me. It became a frustrating game of Chinese whispers. I was even asked to confirm my date of birth twice, only for it still to be incorrect on the sales agreement.
When asked when I wanted to collect the car, I requested Sunday but was told my salesperson, Harry, wasn't working, so we agreed Monday instead. This was already frustrating as I'd previously had to take time off work to test drive the vehicle because of his availability. I'm buying a car from a dealership, not an individual salesperson, and I don't believe a customer's experience should have to revolve around one employee's working pattern when the dealership itself is open.
When I signed to purchase the vehicle on Wednesday, I was told the MOT had just been booked and we agreed collection for Monday. I subsequently paid the balance in full.
By 4pm on Saturday I had heard nothing about collection, so I called the dealership because I knew Harry wasn't working on Sunday. It was only because I chased that I became aware he'd emailed me to say the MOT hadn't been completed and Monday collection would no longer be possible. Unfortunately the email had gone into my junk folder. When I called, Harry wasn't working and there was no manager available, and nobody else seemed able to explain what had happened or help resolve it.
After raising my concerns by email, I was then assured the MOT would be completed on Monday and that I could collect the car that day. On Sunday, I received an appointment for 5pm Monday, with the possibility of an earlier collection once the MOT time had been confirmed.
Monday morning then arrived and I received another call to say that, actually, the car wouldn't be ready after all.
At this point I still hadn't been given a proper explanation for why the MOT hadn't happened when originally arranged, beyond being told that "obviously they were too busy."
During that conversation I was told they could still MOT the car and I could take it, but I would then need to bring it back for an issue with the tyre-pressure monitoring system to be fixed. Given that preparing the car properly was part of what we'd agreed, I wasn't comfortable accepting the vehicle with a known outstanding fault and having to return it later.
I was eventually offered a courtesy car, which I appreciate, but this was only after repeatedly challenging the situation and obviously isn't the car I've purchased and paid for.
What concerned me further was then being asked whether we could complete the paperwork that day. I declined. I'm not prepared to sign to complete the handover of a vehicle that isn't ready on the promise that outstanding work will subsequently be completed.
I've now requested on multiple occasions, including over the weekend and again on Monday, that a manager contact me regarding my experience. As of writing this review, nobody has.
What I have received today is an automated email from the dealership asking me to share my experience on Trustpilot and Google — so here it is.
I have deliberately given the dealership an opportunity to speak to me before leaving a review because I appreciate that things go wrong. A delayed MOT or an unexpected repair could have been dealt with through clear communication, an apology, somebody taking ownership and a realistic plan to resolve it.
Instead, I've repeatedly had to chase for information, received conflicting assurances about when the car would be ready, had arrangements changed at short notice and still haven't had the requested contact from a manager.
As of writing, I have paid for the vehicle in full but have still not collected it.
I'll happily update this review once the situation is concluded, including how the dealership chooses to resolve it from here. Unfortunately, the experience up to this point has taken something that should have been really exciting and made it incredibly stressful and disappointing.
