Textbook perfect handling of an unfortunate situation

Ordered a rational grill grate, which was despatched quickly but unfortunately a mistake made by Rational led to the grill being delayed. Lindsey at Catering Appliance was great, kept on top of it, good communication, helped me out every step of the way. The delay was not their fault and their response to it could not have been better.

Poor Customer Service

Firstly, I want to say that I have never left a negative review for any business before, but my experience with this company and its customer service has pushed me to do so.

I purchased a commercial oven from CAS, and unfortunately the rubber seal came away within the first 24 hours of use. I contacted the company immediately, only to be told that rubber seals are not covered under warranty. I can understand that position if the seals had failed after a year of use — but not within the first 24 hours.

Both CAS and the manufacturer, Uropa, have insisted that I pay for replacement seals, which will cost approximately £130. I don’t have an issue with the fact that the oven developed a fault — these things can occasionally happen. What I do take issue with is the complete lack of customer service and the expectation that I should pay for a malfunction that occurred within a day of purchase.

It is extremely disappointing that, seven months later, this matter has still not been resolved satisfactorily. I am due to purchase two additional ovens — but based on this experience, I will definitely think before buying them from CAS.

As the retailer, we supplied the oven; however, the warranty and all decisions relating to faults and replacement parts are held directly with the manufacturer. In this case, we raised your concerns with them promptly and acted in accordance with their guidance throughout.
We fully understand your frustration given how quickly the issue with the seal arose. While the manufacturer classifies seals as consumable items not covered under warranty, we continued to liaise with them on your behalf to seek a resolution.
As a gesture to resolve the matter, the manufacturer offered a replacement oven, which was arranged. Following your decision that the replacement was also unsuitable, a full refund was issued.
While we regret that this situation did not meet your expectations, we believe we acted appropriately in supporting you through the process and ensuring a final resolution was reached.
We do value your feedback and will continue working closely with our suppliers to improve the overall customer experience.

Warranty Scammers

I contacted this company when a wire fell off my washing machine whilst it is under warranty. It's a simple and inexpensive type item but a part specific to the machine. Despite my rights under the Consumer Rights Act I was told I had to pay £300 before they would even schedule a repair. They said their T&C's trumped the law which clearly they don't! Many people won't be able to afford £300 up front and they shouldn't have to. I will be reporting this to Samsung & Trading Standards also. If you buy an item make sure you can afford the repair with them!! It's a SCAM

We’re sorry to hear you’re unhappy and we’d like to clarify the situation for transparency.

This appliance was purchased via a business account, which means the transaction is classed as business-to-business, not a consumer (domestic) sale. As such, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 does not apply to this purchase.
For business customers, repairs and warranty claims are handled in line with the manufacturer’s warranty and our published Terms & Conditions, which were accepted at the time of purchase.

These terms do not override the law but reflect the correct legal framework for commercial purchases.

The charge referenced is a standard call-out and diagnostic fee required to arrange an engineer visit for business warranty claims.

As outlined in our Terms & Conditions, this is refundable or offset where a fault is confirmed as being covered under warranty.

We strongly disagree with the suggestion that this is a scam. We operate transparently and in accordance with UK commercial law and manufacturer procedures.

If you’d like us to review your case again, please contact our customer service team directly so we can assist further.

Absolutely terrible delivery service.

Absolutely terrible delivery service.
This has been one of the most frustrating delivery experiences I’ve ever had. The communication was poor from start to finish. I placed my order online, and at no point was it clearly explained that this would be a kerbside-only delivery. I was only informed very close to the delivery time, leaving me with no chance to make proper arrangements.

It is completely unreasonable and unrealistic to expect one person to receive and move a large, heavy freezer from the kerb, especially with such short notice. The fact that this was treated as acceptable is honestly shocking. I’ve ordered large appliances before and have never had an issue like this.

What made the situation even worse was being told I should now pay extra for redelivery, despite the failure being caused by their lack of clear communication. The whole experience caused unnecessary stress, inconvenience, and frustration.

Overall, the delivery process was poorly handled, inconsiderate, and incredibly annoying. This experience has completely put me off, and I would strongly advise others to think twice before ordering if delivery matters to you at all.

Thank you for review. We are sorry to hear that you’re disappointed with our delivery process.

I would like to clarify the situation so there is no misunderstanding. All of our deliveries are kerbside delivery only. This is clearly stated at checkout, on our order confirmation, and on the invoice. Unfortunately, we were not made aware before delivery that kerbside delivery would not be suitable, and no special delivery requirements were noted when the order was placed or during the phone call with our team.

Because the original delivery attempt could not be completed, our courier has charged a redelivery fee.

As a gesture of goodwill — despite the delivery terms being clearly outlined — we have offered to cover half of this cost for you to pay. This means we are absorbing the remaining charge ourselves.

At this stage, the options available are:
• Proceed with redelivery at the reduced charge
• Cancel the order and receive a refund in line with our cancellation policy
Unfortunately, we’re unable to reduce the redelivery charge further, as this is the courier’s cost and not something we control.
Please let us know which option you would like to proceed with so we can resolve this for you as quickly as possible.
