Waste of time and effort
What a waste of space you are, my case never showed up on my holiday in June ,and they needed receipts for the items in my case , well some of the clothes in there were a small fortune ,but I'd had them along time ,so how can you provide receipts for them .
Most of the time I try my holiday clothes on ,and if the fit the receipt goes in the bin end of .
So cut a long story short .
Offered me the toiletries payment and 50 quid compo , out of 800 quid insurance , it cost me 450 quid to buy stupidly priced items , which that's all I could get ,besides walking around in what I landed in .
Do not I repeat do not get insured with this company ,they are a complete nightmare .
Avoid at all costs
My trip to Japan was cancelled before I could go. I couldn't get a refund for the flights so tried to claim though travel insurance. CEGA Group refused my claim despite the cancellation of the trip being 'unavoidable' and 'necessary' as per their policy wording. Awful customer service, no effort made to solve my claim instead have just said I'm not covered. Waited over 65 days for an email reply and they don't answer their phones, even after being on hold for 50+ minutes.
I had an insulting offer for £50 compensation when my claim amounts to nearly £900. I have complained to the Financial Ombudsman Service and intend to take them to court to recover what is owed to me. If only I had looked at the reviews before choosing them as my travel insurance provider! Lesson learned, they're not to be trusted.

Do not use at all cost! 7 months waiting for a claim to be dealt with only for them to deny my claim as I apparently gave up my seat on an overbooked easyJet flight! £1,800 down the drain. Do not use them
Delayed, misleading, back tracking mess
TLDR; took 40 days to acknowledge my claim, on 63rd day their system finally updated the email attachment evidences, on day 70 they provided "Payment Advice & Settlement" -- then on the 108th day deny payment is due at all and refer me to Financial Ombudsman.
2021-12-21 Purchased advance tickets for my sister's wedding in Thailand -- 6-leg flights, 3 each way -- via Go To Gate (AVOID!)
2022-05-22 Go To Gate advises "your flight has been cancelled" but not which one. Also advises a fee "if" I instruct them to process a refund. I try to work with airlines, they identify it's flight 5 on return journey but refer me back to GTG -- who does not respond for several weeks.
2022-06-24 I start to make alternate arrangements for my return journey and open a travel insurance claim with Barclays / Cega Group.
2022-06-27 Go To Gate respond by cancelling the entire itinerary without my authorisation but unable to rebook and drops my calls. I hurriedly finalise alternative outbound arrangements to continue to travel.
2022-06-30 I provide GTG's notice of cancellation and intention to refund, to Cega Group
2022-07-05 Go To Gate sends notice of refund on the itinerary costs, less a fee. (argh)
2022-08-03 Barclays / Cega Group -- initial acknowledgement of claim (40 days from start of claim) There are 2 emails citing need for further evidences.
2022-08-23 Barclays / Cega Group -- confirm that the delays have been on their side and my complaint is resolved via a goodwill payment (not specified and not received to date)
2022-08-26 Barclays / Cega Group system is still unable to process attachments, further delaying the claim process.
2022-08-30 I send all evidences again, using my work email address; several conversations later, these are confirmed received and the claim is processed.
2022-09-06 Barclays / Cega Group sends "Payment Advice" confirming total amount and payment to be received in 7-10 working days. I follow up several times.
2022-09-30 Barclays / Cega Group wanting to know if I have been paid yet or not --> I confirm not. It's now +3 months since opening the claim / 21 working days since payment advice.
2022-10-14 Barclays / Cega Group confirm "Outcome of Complaint" that my claim is not covered and no payment will follow, but please open a case with the Financial Ombudsman if I am unhappy with their decision... which I do.
2022-10-18 Have opened a complaint directly with Barclays.
Appalling - no stars would be more appropriate
My daughter and her partner purchased a 12 month back packers policy through Cover For You, thinking they would never need it but unfortunately they were injured in a serious car accident in Australia and need to return to the UK. CoverForYou.com use CEGA Group to handle their claims. CEGA Group don't return your calls or respond to emails and when you do finally get them to accept that they have to fly you home, they make you pay over £3,500 towards flights that you could purchase for £2,500 and if you don't pay they will cancel your repatriation flights and leave you in Australia with three fractured vertebrae in your back.

I would like to award a minus 10. We paid for this travel insurance via TSB Premier banking over many years never claimed anything. We were on holiday in Portugal and I had a minor stroke and was in hospital for 3 days. My wife called the help line to ask for advice. She called 9 times and was promised they would call back. Not once did they call back which was very stressful for my wife. Every time she phoned she was told ‘very busy and dealing with it and a nurse would call to discuss flights etc’ To cut a long and sorry saga we finally heard from Cega when we had returned to the UK after we paid for flights etc, they declined to imliment the policy. Why they could not have said that on the first call we really don’t know. What a terrible company, terrible customer service just when you need good service. Do Not Use.

Avoid using Cega or Cover for you. I had a very small straightforward claim. I have had to make numerous calls and have still not been paid. Nothing but hassle and a waste of time. AVOID USING!

Absolute nightmare and pretty sure this is a scam.
Three months and not a single response from anyone despite several chasers. Ended up with them through coverforyou. NEVER AGAIN.

Appalling. Instead of 10 days they were looking at my claims for 3 months and no results still.. They don't call at the time the say they will.. The miss documents.. Asking for the same thing many time.. Total mess.
3 months and still nowhere near
It has been exactly 3 months now since I submitted my travel insurance claim.
They keep on asking for 'one more document' before they can process my claim, but it seems like this is just a cheap tactic to avoid paying altogether. This company is basically a scam.
I had to call them several times to find this out, and I have been presently on hold for 1 hour and 12 minutes as I type.
I am considering filing a formal complaint to the financial-ombudsman.org.uk
As well as with HSBC, who uses them for their branded travel insurance.

Small claim for hospital treatment in Portugal, only £250. Made the claim on the 9th August, rang today for an update, was told it was just how busy they were, then when I mentioned the trust pilot rating the operator hung up on me. I don't think these calls are being taken by people inside the UK...

They used any excuse to not pay out and even though I have emailed them the required doctors letters they take forever to respond. I had to pay the bill personally as they refused to cover at the time as they needed more information from my own doctor. what ever you do do not use this company for travel insurance,

I believe this is a scam. Excellent service provided when you need a quote and great at taking your money but that's where the service ends. Don't give your money to them.

Can you give no stars? I had a far larger claim against Easyjet and full marks to them, they may have cancelled the flight but they settled up costs and compensation within 2 weeks. Not so CEGA, for a far smaller amount that cannot be disputed.
This company will loose LV my next renewal.

Shame I had to leave at least one star. I fell ill with C-19 in Dubai and was told that i needed to self isolate for a period of 10 days according to local guidelines. Apparently, you only get £1000. Whilst ill, I emailed them 6 times for assistance and never got a reply. They just don't care about you. Can you imagine trying to live in Dubai with accommodation for 10 days with £1000 ? It is just not fit for purpose. This was followed by a complaint by myself. Initially the complaint was lost and then took 3 months to conclude. Honestly, the company is a shower - do not trust because you only find out how good your cover is when you need it the most. Avoid

My elderly mother broke her ankle whilst on holiday. CEGA provided no support at all and if anything hindered her repatriation. We were advised by doctors that she needed to return to the UK for an immediate operation. I consistently called CEGA for advice on repatriating her and approval of costs, each time I was told that they would call me back once decisions have been made. I stressed that action would need to be taken within hours. This was six days ago and as yet no one has called me or provided any assistance. We of course arranged the repatriation on our own later that day. However I feel firstly that I have been cheated, as the insurance was something we paid for and we received no assistance, advice or approvals. Secondly in the hours we waited for a response, she could have been on an earlier flight back. Had we not realised later that day how useless a company they are, then she could have still be waiting abroad for them to take action. They should be ashamed of their actions.

It has been 6 months since I got an emergency surgery during my holidays, which I paid in cash at the clinic after the CEGA approval. I sent all the documents they requested, and I filled out all the forms to make the claim. When I write to them to ask how is my claim process, they always reply by asking for the same documents again. Dealing with them has been an extremely tiring process. Please, avoid.
