Very poor items received. I have given them straight to a charity shop. Perhaps I should have said that I donated then and have not been informed as to weather the item will be sold.

I got the cost of living mystery box. I paid extra to have it delivered in 5 working days. It was ordered in the third week of August and arrived on 17th September.
The first things I saw in the box was bread - loaves of it. There was also a case of plastic cups of water. I use a refillable water bottle and buy discounted bread at the end of the supermarket day so these did not represent great value for money.
There were a few interesting items in the box - soup flavours I hadn't tried before including a pouch of Thai soup.
Over all the box was a bit of a disappointment and I won't be a repeat purchaser.

As you can see from the below response - this company thinks its okay to send customers 2 years out of date egg-based product on the basis that its 'best-before' and not 'use-by'. How can you possibly say that the use-by would be 2 years, nearly 3 years outside of the 'best-before' window.

Also, how have you replied to emails multiple times when the previous response to the review was that you cant see any emails? I've forwarded them multiple times, no response.

I am okay with food outside of the best-before, and have ordered from other companies who do so many times. But this was excessive, the mayo and ranch had visibly seperated and had gone bad. The Jelly had turned to water, the crisps were wet and soggy. It's just not acceptable business practice.

I have provided a review below as I was sent mayo and French dressing from 2023 that would have made me very very sick, as well as a number of other items with egg and perishable ingredients years out of date.

Contacted multiple times, they even replied to my review but won't reply to emails.

I will keep posting until I receive a reply via email.

Very good items just very slow to dispatch toke from 9th August till 5th Sept to get items I really needed for half term to feed my little boy this company used to be brilliant years ago when my girls were smaller as a single mum it's not good to get things on time you need them

Ordered with them order number: IN57687 .I had one tin of luncheon meat that was open and a box of rice Krispies with its lid totally missing and contents all out in the parcel. I sent an email via their website asking for a refund for the rice krispies and had no reply I can also supply photos to back up this review. So today I tried phoning them on their contact number which can be found via Google search.The phone was picked up twice and every time all I could hear was breathing and no reply despite me repeatedly saying hello. So I'll be blunt with this and from my own very unsatisfying experience I'd recommend Avoiding them ..I've used many best before short date and out of date websites. Low priced food,Approved food and cheapfooduk and never had this kind of issue. As a further update to this review I can also state yet again that I do have photo evidence of my order and the issues as proof, I wish trust pilot would allow reviewers to submit photo evidence as well. Since this review clearance XL has requested my contact details. However I do not forsee a resolution as this has been far from well dealt with so far .

UPDATE SINCE THIS REVIEW WAS PUBLISHED. Clearancexl have not reached out to offer to refund the items damaged or even ask for my photos which I have. Instead they are more worried about me publishing their owners name and customer telephone number on this very review and have such had trust pilot ask me to remove their name and contact details. I hope the red flags noted by my own use of their very under par service is noted for other users to be aware that you should maybe avoid them. Also as further information to my order I also ordered on the same order 2 litre bottles of Pepsi, the contents were quite flat and with a twangy taste, usually a sign that they're being sold too far beyond their best date. I don't know what's happened to this company as many years ago they used to reliable and this kind of drop off as also mentioned and shown evidentially by other reviews is pretty disturbing.

As you can see by their reply they state regarding having not received any email correspondence from me regarding my order all of which I have proof of photos and email screenshots.Your need to try and insult "are you trying to reform us" and trying to have digs at my intelligence is also rather peculiar at best. You did not attempt to reply customer emails such as my own. You're also are telling falsehoods about targeting staff publicly.
Your customer service/company telephone number is on Google for all and sundry to find. If a customer politely saying "hello hello hello" down the phone whilst someone just sits on the other end breathing without replying is considered such,then that is quite honestly ridiculous, after all what is a customer supposed to do when you don't reply to their emails? You're trying to insult me on trust pilot yet you're the one with the 2.6 star average reviews. Quite ironic really.

Good value, saving the planet by buying excess food that would go to a landfill

This is a total scam. I didn’t receive any email confirmation of order. I contacted them after two weeks of not receiving my delivery and expressed that this is a scam. I received my delivery three days later only to find that all the drinks are out of date. Please don’t buy from this website. I got a code from Wowcher. I will contact them to express my disappointment.

Hi i placed an order 3 weeks ago order is still in progress no communication no email back nothing , so I'm presuming when my order comes it will be no use ,in other words your taking people's money and taking time with order which means it's no use , there could be a reason because your doing this is that the food before it's even sent is absolutely useless so to me it's a scam. Absolutely shocking 50 pound and nothing g still waiting

Mystery box thrown over the garden gate so most items spoilt as many things broke inside the box and I wasn't home for a few days and not aware of the delivery so the box was outside during 3 days of rain and then few days of sunshine, so mouldy inside

Ordered twice. On both occasions items have been missing and the company have failed to address their failures. The products that were received have also been of significantly lower quality than those you can buy from other companies with a similar business model. Won't be using this company again, and would strongly suggest that others also avoid them.

The number of negative reviews left here is clearly indicative of a problem at ClearanceXL that needs addressing properly, rather than all of the passive aggressive responses they manage to post here. It's interesting to see that Trustpilot says negative reviews here receive a response within two weeks, and yet multiple emails and contact form correspondence to ClearanceXL by customers is completely ignored.

Absolutely shocking, ordered the mystery cake box and some of these cakes are a full year out of date 🤢🤢

One of the swiss rolls had Aug 24 as it's best before!!! Pretty much a year out of date. The rest were Jan 25 and April 25.

Avoid this scammer company sending mayonnaise which exp 2023, and 2 whole creates of a year out of date tonic water, they need to be closed down by the health department, they are abhorrent, where is my refund you?? If you want food poisoning then by all means order from them if not then avoid AVOID AVOID.

Only really used them to get a box of food because Wowcher had a deal on.
I paid for next day delivery so I’d get it quicker than the weeks on end wait.
When it hit 3pm the day of supposed delivery I hadn’t heard anything from them or the company delivering the parcel so I called them the phone kept ringing out, I emailed no reply, I messaged them on Facebook again no reply, so I commented on a post they had posted and they said they would look into it and get back to me they didn’t get back to me at all. Anyway 5days later I get an email from DPD saying they will deliver my parcel tomorrow, 6days after I placed the order 4days after I was meant to get my order and I paid delivery to get it on that certain date.
The contents of the box was okay ish, a lot of brands I hadn’t heard of but will be giving a go as no choice but to, some bits we won’t use so will have to find someone who will take them. A couple of jelly’s were broken when arrived. It was well packaged.
I probably won’t be using them again mainly because I paid for a certain delivery date and it was days past that I got my parcel and there communication with there consumer is non existent.
