Absolutely awful experience
Absolutely awful experience. What was meant to be a relaxing night away turned into one of the worst experiences we have ever faced.
We arrived at the apartment to find it absolutely freezing. The moment we walked in, it was clear there was no heating on. We followed the guide provided to turn the heating on, but nothing worked. It quickly became obvious that the thermostat was broken. We then checked the boiler, only to find it wasn’t on at all — and there was no button or way to turn it on ourselves.
We called, emailed, and sent text messages to the company and received no response at all.
Because there was no hot water, we couldn’t even shower properly. Instead, we had to boil the kettle and wash ourselves in the sink. This was in the middle of winter, with temperatures dropping to –2°C in Chester, and there was no way to warm up inside the apartment. It was genuinely miserable and completely unacceptable.
As a result of this, we’ve both now caught a cold. This experience was far below any reasonable standard of accommodation, especially for a property advertised as having heating and hot water.
The complete lack of communication made the situation even worse. This issue should have been treated as urgent, instead we were ignored then sent automated emails asking us how we are enjoying our stay and to leave a review…
I would not recommend staying here. If I could give 0 stars I would.

No keys or instructions to how to get in ,many people are left outside without assistance.AVOID
Horrendous
No instructions to get into the accommodation. No reply from the host by phone or email. Booked through Expedia and they could not get hold of the host. Have requested a refund but no reply from the host or Expedia. Keep saying the booking cannot be found even though Expedia could find it on the day but 2 days later cannot find it. Had to return home, cost of petrol, parking, tunnel fees and my husband and I wasted our leave from work. Do not stay at this accommodation, we have lost £200.
No key left and no reply from owners.
We booked the apartment for 2 friends who were travelling to Chester to attend a family party. When they arrived it was evident no key had been left, after several attempts to contact Airbnb who advised they we contact the owners of the apartment, we heard nothing back. Tried many times throughout the evening.
Our guests had to stay at other friends of ours who they’d never met before!
Absolutely appalled reading the reviews as it seems to be a very common occurrence.
Left stranded with no room and no answer!?
Turned up to their apartment we booked after a 5 hour drive to find someone else in our room and no contact from them to inform us of a change? With it being self check in we rung the number supplied in the emails multiple times only for no one to answer and so left a voicemail. Eventually we got a text back saying there shouldn’t be anyone in our room (there definitely was). A colleague of theirs had changed the booking that morning without telling us and they just needed to check it was available for us. Unsurprisingly an hour later and us sending a follow up text we have received no answer nor have they even read the messages with what was just a quick check. Essentially with an important event tomorrow morning, we were left stranded with no where to stay and no communication from them about what was happening.
AVOID at all costs
AVOID at all costs. Alex the host has a terrible business model. Apartments are unclean and not in good working order. Classic wheeler dealer who hasn’t been taught the concept of telling the truth and is over promising and under delivering. He uses several booking platforms and I hope that people start to see the honest reviews and stop booking here as it will only lead to disappointment. Contacted him re heating not working, will pop in and still waiting that was a week ago. We will move you to another apartment tomorrow another blatant lie, I am still not sure why any business owner thinks honesty is not the best policy. The best though was when I called him again to follow up and he said you spoke to my boss he is very busy- it was him!! this is a one man band outfit with a fancy website which is all front and false advertising.
Arrived to an unclean apartment which…
Arrived to an unclean apartment which smelt of smoke, kitchen tap was hanging on by a thread, black mould in the bathroom and a dirty blanket covering a bare mattress for the sofa bed. With our 3 year old in tow, we called the number given (this was at 16:30) and received no answer. Messaged Eastgate living on Booking.com to let them know the situation, we received a reply to say they were looking into it, then they completely ignored us. Called over 10 times, messaged over 20 times. We ended up booking another of their apartments across town, trekking all of our stuff with us to at least stay in a cleaner apartment and are awaiting a full refund on both. Still getting no reply. Absolutely awful service and no way to run a serviced accommodation business. Terrible
Not 2 bed and no bedding
I booked a 2 bed flat and received a 1 bed flat. It’s just false advertising!
I arrived late and my colleague was already asleep in the bedroom. Turns out the sofa bed in the living room kitchen (not a separate bedroom as advertised!) did t have any bedding so I ended up sleeping a patchy sleep with no blanket fully clothes curled up on the sofa! Woke up cold at 6am.
Pluses are that it’s a decent place in a central area and the host is communicative.
Overbooking?
Months ago we booked an apartment in Hoylake for 6 days through Airbnb, to commence from 3pm on Sunday 23rd June. Hadn't received any lockbox instructions by Saturday evening, so sent an email request, which was replied to at 07.51 on the Sunday saying "will send you a complete check in details shortly". Nothing received for a couple of hours so mailed again and called their office number which was not answered.
I called Airbnb who started to try to find Eastgate around noon, but they had no success. I had received a full refund from Airbnb by 2.30pm but not a word from Eastgate.
The apartment I was to have rented is shown not available at this time so presumably Eastgate took 2 bookings for the same dates. I'm glad I went through Airbnb and not direct!!
Horrific
Horrific. They double booked our accomodation in Chester leaving 4 women stranded after a day at Chester races. Couldn't contact them, thankfully refunded via Booking.com but still no contact from them by way of apology. Avoid at all costs!!!!
Truly an amazing experience
Truly an amazing experience, I travel a lot to Chester with work and would never book anywhere else.
