I wish I would have read these comments before purchasing. They have totally ruined the drink by removing sugar. As adults surely we can make decisions in what we can and can't drink sugar wise. All d... Ver mais

These drinks have been absolutely ruined by Stevia, they taste disgusting now. The bottle goes on about traditional drinks and being established in 1905, well they didn't have Stevia back then so yo... Ver mais
I used to love Fentimans, especially their ginger beer and dandelion and burdock, until they added sweeteners. They have that distinctive sweetener aftertaste nowadays. When I contacted them about it... Ver mais
Bought a Fentimans thinking they hadn't jumped on the stevia band wagon. Utterly, utterly vile flavour. Tasted the stevia in the first sip. Lord knows who they use to try their products. Can't have an... Ver mais

Disgusting drinks now
Disgusting drinks now, absolutely horrible taste, will never buy again.
I would rather pay a premium for sugar…
I would rather pay a premium for sugar - no sweeteners
I don't like the aftertaste, I haven't continued to purchase any Fentimans products since they swapped over to Stevia.
I don't like that they don't seem to be in touch with their customer base about it either, it all seems very sad to see so many people disappointed in what used to be lovely products.
Why the sweetener?? It tastes awful!
I'm not picky about sweetener, I actually prefer it sometimes, so when my partner said that the bottle of Fentiman's we just got at the store tastes completely different + awful, I thought it was an exaggeration. I took a sip and yikes, he was very right!! I said we should look this up, and lo and behold, SO many complaints... Change it back! :/
The sweetener ruined EVERYTHING
The sweetener makes my long-time favourite "Curiosity Cola" taste like dishwater and I don't understand why they had to destroy this beautiful recipe they had...
I guess I get it - chemical sweeteners are CHEAPER - but how much money are these geniuses going to save on sugar when they keep losing customers???
And then I see they're blaming "lobby groups" for "trying to destroy the company"???? Are they daft??? It's the recipe that's now disgusting, not some agenda that's taking place!
Needless to say - been waiting long enough and will not buy their drinks again until I SEE (and taste) that there is none of that nonsense sweetener in there. I don't understand how people can EVER claim that sweetener tastes like sugar - it does NOT. 1 swig was enough to determine how horrid the new recipe was...I check the label - sweetener...obviously...
Ugh - 0 stars, if I could...
Edit: Here's a freebie: Revert the recipe and ANNOUNCE the change (unlike how you did not announce the sweetener in the first place) by changing the product labels to say "THE OLD RECIPE IS BACK!", so we know when it's safe to buy again...
Ruined with Stevia Artificial Sweetener
I purchased a bottle of Curiosity Cola from Tesco a few weeks ago as I was craving an ice cold glass of it on a hot summer's day.
After chilling it in the fridge for a few hours, I took one gulp and knew straight away that they had changed the recipe to include artificial sweetener. As one of the reviewers here has commented, it did indeed taste like soap. I couldn’t quite find the word to describe it accurately, but that really nailed it. I couldn't believe it when I checked the ingredients and found that Stevia was listed.
I truly don't understand how anybody that works at Fentiman's could think they could charge a premium price for something that is full of poison.
I went back to get a refund from Tesco (which was a real hassle as it was out of the way for me, but I went back on principle). Then after I went home, I searched for Karma Cola to see if I could order it online. Luckily, I could, but I emailed them first to tell them about my experience, and to ask if they use artificial sweeteners too. They replied within a few hours and said they do not.
I placed an order with Karma Cola for a case of 24x 250ml cans (the bottles were out of stock). I then replied to the email and said I would also never buy from them again if they changed the recipe to include artificial sweetener.
I will never buy another Fentiman's drink again. The company must be run by bean counters who have no idea what they've done. Even if they changed the recipe back, they have ruined the trust I had in them.
The new recipes since getting rid of…
The new recipes since getting rid of sugar are disgusting. I will never buy this brand again.
Just poured a loverly cool glass of my…
Just poured a loverly cool glass of my favourite ginger beer over ice, or so I thought. To my disgust it tasted completely different, almost soapy! Upon further inspection of the label I discovered they had added a sweetener and reduced the sugar. Not only will I stop drinking it myself I will probably withdraw it from sale in my cafe and look for an alternative product with natural sugar and no sweeteners.
Used to love this now HATE it due to replacement of sugar with stevia - yuk!
This used to be one of my little treats. Imo, this taste like cola from my childhood. I purchased some today, took a big swig and thought it tasted different, kind of bitter. Looked at the ingredients and see they have now replaced the sugar with stevia. I am not happy because it didn’t mention anything on the bottle about a change and I have gut issues and can not tolerate sweeteners. So now thanks Fentimans I have a raging tummy ache and have to throw away my drink - urgh! You’ve just lost a customer in me.
Basic customer service training needed
I asked 2 simple questions (why was there no announcement about the recipe change and why no mention of it on the labels?) in a polite and reasonable manner on FB messenger. After a formula response from their CS representative which failed to address my points, I was then blocked. They seem to be treating any critic of their new recipes as part of a lobby group with an agenda to destroy the company (they've said this in a press release!). This bunker mentality will win them no friends and is the antithesis of what good customer service should be.
OMG. Yet another drink company has destroyed their once fantastic products by adding sweeteners.
OMG. Yet another drink company has sold out and destroyed their once fantastic products by adding sweeteners. I can only assume it’s down to greed or tax. If that’s the case, why not charge a little more? I’m sure the lovers of the products would rather pay more than have the products ruined by sweeteners.
Fentimans drinks are no longer a unique drink, but yet another tasteless fizzy drink. Why not have two versions like Coke. One diet and one original. Surely that makes more sense.
I’m sure this will be the end of Fentimans. I surly will not be buying it again. Goodbye Fentimans!
I'm honestly gobsmacked that this…
I'm honestly gobsmacked that this company has decided to ignore consumer opinion and jump on the bandwagon that other drinks companies are doing by adding sweetener to their products. It's a myth that high quality drink companies think that adding sweetener will not reduce the quality of their brand when in fact it's just a simple way to cut the sugar out and at the same time they can boast about it's natural benefits. Fentimens have reduced the sugar content in stealth by hiding it on their bottles. I will never purchase the product again. Every Time a drinks company decides to put any kind of sweetener in the drink it just makes me angry
Stevia is not harmless for everyone!
I didn't mind paying a premium price for what was a premium drink.
Now Fentimans have gone down the artificial sweetener route, and they didn't even respect their customers enough to announce, or warn us, about it, as a result of which many of us were made ill.
Not only do the drinks now leave a bad taste in your mouth, so does their response to customers telling them their new recipe made them ill: posting on social media about "lobbyists trying to ruin their business with negative comments".
No, Fentimans, you didn't need any help ruining your business. You did that yourselves when you chose to treat us like children & thought we wouldn't notice the difference.
I used to love their drinks and they…
I used to love their drinks and they were always a safe option to choose when out for a meal (I can't consume artificial sweeteners including Stevia) & readily available in a lot of supermarkets. However, Fentimans reformulated the ingredients, adding Stevia, without notifying their customers of the change, making some people ill when they drank them. When honest feedback was given via their Facebook page, they deleted the comments and removed their reviews section. Not a company I will ever buy from again, untrustworthy and dishonest.
This was my favorite cola
This was my favorite cola. Been drinking it probably for at least the last 8 years. I had an Amazon subscription delivering me 24 bottles a month.
Now the recipe has been changed. I hate the taste, I'll never purchase another bottle.
One of my favorite products, gone forever.
Ruined by artifical sweeteners
I used to buy these a few times a year as a treat and last week I thought I'd received a bad batch, but no, when I checked the ingredients I noticed they've reduced the sugar content and replaced it with the artifical sweetener "Stevia". It's just not worth the money any more. I'll switch to Belvoir, Luscombe or Fever-Tree.
Once my favourite now hate it.
Once my favourite at which time I would have given 5 stars. Now though however the new recipe is undrinkable to me. Just put it back the way it was while theirs still time.
Tastes horrible with sweeteners
Absolutely disgusting now it contains sweeteners.
You've ruined the drinks now.
Please bring the sugar version back.
Sorry no thanks
Sorry no thanks, can't stomach sweeteners so will no longer buy their drinks.
Artificial Sweeteners Ruined Their Drinks
Used to love the ginger beer but can't have it now due to addition of Stevia! Fentimans are ignoring feedback about this from customers that have been loyal to them for years, all in all it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth!
Ginger beer
So, it's my birthday and I thought id treat myself to some posh/expensive ginger beer.
One bottle is almost 3 times the price of Tescos own brand.
I was expecting a ginger punch in face, with delicate floral overtones to follow.
There is literally no difference than any own brand, which also has no sugar content.
Save your money.
