I chose fernwood as a female only gym. But its impossible to enjoy, run by children, no calve rauser, music is intolerable, millions of female singers, they place blokes rap, and because they are so ignorant, they seem incapable of finding decent female musicians. Honestly, doubt i will last past the mandatory 2 months. As a 72 yold, seems gym is losing a lot of potential clients. Very disappointing

I had a Fernwood premium membership at their Penrith location for about a year and a half - $130 per fortnight. I went regularly, attended reformer pilates, always paid on time, loved going. I used to call Fernwood "girl heaven". I had to cancel my membership abruptly because I was fleeing domestic violence. I had spent thousands with this gym, always been a courteous and enthusiastic member, I knew they were invested in women's health, I thought I would be treated with compassion. I made multiple attempts to call them, I left multiple messages. My next billing cycle was coming and I couldn't afford it. I got a text from a staff member asking when I was available for a call, I replied immediately and heard nothing back. I tried again, I sent emails, I went through their contact forms. Eventually I got in touch with their membership manager who sent me a cancellation form, and even though I had paid out my initial 12 month contract and then some, they needed 30 more days payment. I responded to her email to explain my situation, I attached sensitive, personal information, documented evidence of the abuse. I asked for special dispensation because I was experiencing a crisis. My email was ignored again. I heard nothing for days, my next billing cycle started and I had to clear my account so they wouldn't take it, I needed that money to escape. I emailed them again, this time I was sick and tired, I told them I would leave a bad review for their mistreatment of abused women. I finally got a response, they wouldn't forgive the last payment but they would deduct 2 weeks off of my cancellation period. I never paid the last bill, and I was explicitly clear that I had no intention of ever giving them another cent. For weeks, I was harassed with text messages chasing payment, emails, I ignored every one of them. Then, they deferred my bill to Revenue NSW, who threatened to suspend my licence if I didn't pay. I was being abused at home, I needed to escape, that $130 was nothing to a business like Fernwood, it was safety for me. They abused and threatened me for it. This gym is disgusting, they have no interest in women's health unless they can profit off of it. Fernwood was a sanctuary for me, I felt safe there because I knew men couldn't come inside. I would stay there for hours to avoid going home. They destroyed that sanctuary and re-traumatised me in the name of $130. And while I'm at it, hypoxi is a scam they are selling you an eating disorder. Don't go here, they have predatory business practices and no humanity.

I love this gym, I couldn’t see myself going anywhere else. The safety I feel of being a womens only gym is a massive bonus. I’m always greeted by friendly staff who are always there too help when I’m feeling frustrated with my workouts. It’s comfortable enough for me to want to just go and hang out when I have nothing better to do. You can sit and have a coffee and a chat or you can have some Brekky before a workout. It’s really cozy for a gym and it’s one I actually look forward to going to.

Club lease holder very unprofessional. Overly defensive. Very groupy behind the desk. Offensive language by staff. I heard a staff member use profanity when speaking of me. Unsupported of other women, have men in the club after hours when I was the only woman in the club, when I told management I did not have privacy in the bathrooms on this, and other occasions my concerns were dismissed. I would not recommend. It is all sales. And, lastly, very filthy. I experienced much gastroenteritis during my time at Fernwood.

I am writing this to warn others about my experience with this gym. I’ve been to multiple gyms, and this is by far the worst experience I’ve had. The staff are consistently rude and dismissive when actual problems arise.
Beyond the poor service, their billing practices feel like a scam. You have zero control over when payments are taken, yet they still hit you with late fees regardless. Most frustratingly, when I voiced these concerns elsewhere, the management tried to publicly gaslight me by claiming they 'reviewed my file

Terrible experience. Unfriendly staff, cold atmosphere, and poorly run management. Zero support for parents — I wasn’t even allowed to sit and wait for my child’s class. No childcare anymore either. Completely unwelcoming and not worth the money. Would never recommend.

I think they are great quality items at a fair price. Will buy again as I live in sportswear!

I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the experience I had while inquiring about a gym membership at the Bankstown location.

Unfortunately the sales staff I dealt with appear to lack a clear understanding of the membership offerings and instead of taking time to understand my personal needs and goals I was advised to simply sign up for 18 months and pay a $200 cancellation fee if i was not happy. This approach is not only unprofessional but completely dismisses the needs and concerns of a potential client.

Furthermore I was told if I started on a flexible membership and decided within a few weeks to go on contract I would lose the current pricing and have to pay extra as I was not considered a new client. This lack of flexibility and fairness is quite disheartening expecting from a gym that promotes itself as a supportive environment for women.

Its deeply disappointing to feel dismissed and pressured rather than guided and supported especially by other women in a space that should be nurturing and empowering. This kind of experience not only deters people from joining but damages a Fernwoods brand and reputation. Its clear there is a significant gap in training and customer service.

Joined Fernwood Fitness recently and it’s been spot on. The gym’s set up really well for women, heaps of gear and spaces that feel comfortable to use. The staff are top notch — always welcoming and ready to help out if you’ve got questions.

I enjoy going to a woman only gym! So many classes to choose from. I highly recommend it.

Fernwood fitness owner Sylvia needs to stop calling people liars in her reviews and gaslighting people to remove them. She is also promoting positive reviews at her location. The gym is not worth the cost, hidden costs, cancellation fee and joining fee is required. Even though fernwood promotes $0 joining fee and trials. She does not honour them. She has belittled reviewers about their financial situation on the review forum and it is extremely unprofessional and uncalled for “ financial obligations” is how she worded it. That is how you will be treated at her club as a financial obligation. The equipment is old and no breakfast is provided. Fernwood CEO’s need to address this. Also, the amount of calls you get when you decide you don’t want to join the bankruptcy gym that has nothing to offer but bankruptcy is uncalled for. I had to block their number due to this. Support the patrons that unfortunately are getting belittled by Sylvia. The front desk does not help these people as she will write in the reviews. They do not care unless you are paying them. It is supposed to be a gym service. Not a small cash loan.

Fernwood Cairnlea is amazing!
It’s the only gym I’ve been to where I’ve found all the staff approachable, friendly and helpful. The gym is always kept neat and tidy. I highly recommend!

So far my experience is really great! Not only because its an all girls gym and i feel comfortable to workout without judgement or fear of being creeped on, but the people there are also very friendly! And so as the workers 🩷 I love how they have programs too and a joined workout sesh like pilate, zumba etc. It’s also a hygenic gym i’d say as it always looks neat and clean and their provided essentials such as bathroom essentials. They have what every girl needs in the gym 🩷

I cannot express the gratitude I feel towards Fernwood.
I have been a happy member now for the last 5 years and 18 years before that in Toowoomba.
Fernwood Carindale has supported me through some of my toughest times. As soon as I walk in the door there is a feeling of arriving 'home' The attentive and caring Fernwood community are always there to listen for a laugh or even a cry! There is a true spirit of caring and support.
The amazing facilities are modern and clean, and upgrades to the most modern and effective equipment.
The timetable has a mix of amazing classes with equally amazing instructors to support you daily.
I would never go anywhere else now that I have found this place. It is truly my happy place! Thank you Fernwood!

Love Fernwood, been a member for 13 years and don’t want to try anywhere else. The staff are great and always helpful. Also have made lots of friends, with the same thing in mind. As we get older, we need to keep our strength, and Fernwood is there to help us do that .

I feel part of a club, I've made friends, trainers are fabulous, it's now just a habit now to get up and going, but once out of bed I can't to het there

Th worst system I have ever seen. They just care about the money and for everything they charge you 100s of dollars. For the first day, they say we have trainers to help you and give advise but by the time you start nobody cares.

Waste of money and time.

I've been coming to fernwood since it opened in carnlea and have loved everything and the staff are friendly I started because I had diabetes and was told to exercise for my health even if I don't feel like getting up as soon as I get there the ladies make everyone feel good
