Website run by pro-Russian, LGBTQI-hating, COVID-denying anti-vaxxers (Free to Choose!). The design looks like it was made in Geocities and there are a lot of fake fragrance reviews. Fragrance notes are mostly incorrect and admins behave like dictators, mass deleting reviews that are not in line with the general opinion. Giving likes to reviews is done by a balloon system. What this has to do with fragrance I have no idea. It takes ages for certain fragrances to be added to the site, and when you open too many pages the site kicks you out with a 'too many requests'-error. Awful experience. The only thing Fragrantica has going for it is the comprehensive database and that you can find some honest reviews between all the fake ones.

Two stars because the database is comprehensive.
But the moderators and site owner intentionally post inflammatory, off-topic content, and encourage disparaging and insulting comments in the threads of many posts.
Had they stuck to the core topic of perfumery, I'd still have my account. However, I cancelled and deleted it a few weeks back.
It's a shame to see a great resource ruined by off-topic posts and partisan behavior where it doesn't belong.

Mean intelligence level of the forums is low. Crawling with ignorant bullies who troll the more intelligent members freely, while administrators do nothing. If you stand up to the admin's beloved bullies, who rule the roost, you'll be banned without warning. Stay away!!!

Some of the members and administrators are rude and spread hateful rhetoric. It's spoiled my enjoyment of the site. In fact, I removed all my content and only consult the database, which is the largest I know. Really sad to see political discussions invade the fragrance world and used to bash minorities. Oh, and also conspiracies :(

Only site in 2024 that won't remember your login. You need login for aditional info of fragrance and fragrantica will always waste your time as it will ask you for login every time and additionally redirect you back to the homepage instead of the site you were on before the login. All that because their trashbag developer can't even make a login - something that 15-year old high school developer could make

I absolutely adore Fragrantica. I go there to do some deep dives into perfumes that I'm considering blind buying. I can always get a general impression of whether or not I would like a frag. I wouldn't have gotten so into perfume without this website, and I love that it's dated, and laid out like everything used to be before the internet became a horrible place. You will find some really creative reviewers with unbiased opinions here. And you can do a deep dive on their profiles too! Anyone who might have something in common with you frag-wise. I don't know what's up with all these anti-Russian reviews 🙄 can we please leave the god d**n politics out of it. Anyway, this website is a gem, and I hope its around forever, just as it is.

This site has been well-known by fragrance enthusiasts, but it doesn't hold up to any contemporary standard. No reporting of abuse, and by implication, no moderation. Your may get the most insulting reactions to your contributions and nobody cares. If your review is not in line with the majority opinion, you get a donkey sticker, i.e. you are tagged as stupid — pure Balcanic mentality there. The shady Russian and Serbian persons running the site felt it opportune to post a pro-Julian Assange banner, in mockery of the pro-Navalny and pro-democracy outpouring of sympathy, THE VERY DAY AFTER THE RUSSIAN OPPOSITION LEADER WAS MURDERED IN PRISON. Clearly, these people have their sympathies with Putin, the Hitler of our times. But leaving this site behind in protest is not easy, because — surprise, surprise — there is no deleting the account. It is like Russia and the whole Communist experience in miniature. AVOID THEM AND BOYCOTT THEM!

Like any other website, you should not take fragrantica.com seriously, unless you've done your research. It's basically a badly designed and managed site, with biased censorship against anyone who can potentially hurt their agenda, which is collecting revenue from shameless advertising. You don't like them? Do not register, use it at your own risk, do not comment, like, dislike, etc. Do not take them too seriously, they are a mediocre organization.

Pushing trump's perfumes was probably the most juvenile act of the owners.

It's an election year in the US and the editor & owner has chosen to promote articles intended to promote hatred of trans individuals, lgbtq+ individuals, and anyone who doesn't support Trump or Putin's invasion of Ukraine. Forum or article comments that point out their lies or hate speech are deleted.

Free site that works consistently well with easy to access techy staff who are helpful with a new user. Very comprehensive Fragrance database for review purposes. Interesting articles by knowledgeable writers.

Fragrantica is really good beacuse you can find information about fragrences you want to buy. You can read rewies, look what it smells like, the good and bad thing about it and see rating. And much more

fake reviews all the people on it are a little bit sick in the head if you ask me. the notes never match the fragrance itself

It's useful platform to get information and there's a nice community of fragrance lovers sharing photos. But the platform's owners and rulers are terrible, they NEVER respond if you write to them, either do the editors, correspondents, writers... Very very rude management! Also, I think most of perfume reviews are fake.

Terrible website to use - comes up with a server error if you search for too many fragrances.

Don't register unless you want to be harassed, bullied, and have your sensitive personal information stolen. That website is a fraud. They are crooks. I'm here to warn people. Please, don't use your regular email, your name, etc. Or don't register at all.

I've had the worst interactions with the members (people who use that website) as well. Bullying, threats, and harassment. The admins and moderators participate in it, and encourage such dangerous & illegal behavior. Moderators edit your comments without your consent or knowledge, and read your private direct messages. They prey on the members.

I am shocked and appalled that these things are happening. They think they can get away with it and ruin people's lives and harass people.

edited: wanting to take off a notch because of the levels of misinformation. They were recommending me Afnan Tobacco Rush as a clone of Mancera Red Tobacco, after I forked out 50$ dollar for this found out it didn't anything like it. Still it is in the "reminding of" section + users blabbing that it is, but it isn't. Turns out that PARIS CORNER EMIR WILD & TOBACCO is a 1:1 copy that has been out since 2021 or before that is over three years ago, still it isn't on their website? So this website isn't even up to date? why is no one mentioning this? So I wasted a good 50 bucks on a false recommendation and a scent that smells more like a black furnace. Bottom line: just go to your local sephora and have a trial session, order decants but forget about this site. After all it is full of airheads believing they are some professional influencer with a PhD at chemistry at something, who spout -beast mode- and -flanker- around as some method to gain quick balloon "likes".

on 2nd thought, I appreciate unisex fragrances are still strongly described as -for men and women- here and not, "gender-neutral" and whatever they've invented to make anything I do say or think s illegal, what's wrong with society??? why is everyone around you walking on egg shells

like this informative site a lot, but it feels like some sort of discogs where you can rate and discuss the audio in crazy detail.. but NOT the presentation. There is none of that, none anywhere. Bottle design and given titles are just as important, that can be a key for purchasing a specific fragrance or a brand or an edition, that can make a difference if it looks great on your shelf. Some of these bottles look like amazing art to purchase even faster. Yet there is none of that on the site like bottle design doesn't matter. Cannot be done on the personal profile unless maybe you add your own shelf which then you can label best looking bottles.. but you can rate any other idiotic nonsense like winter fragrance, night fragrance (?) Feels like a missed opportunity.

An absolute mess of a company. A fragrance company getting on its political high horse and telling people how to think. I had read how politically bull this company was but had no Idea it was this true. I'll never use it again. I went in to find out about scents before buying . Not to get my mind politicised.

This website used to be really good at one time well before 2010. Over the years though up until now in 2023, it has failed miserably in more than one way and has become a hostile website if you attempt to speak up about not liking the way a fragrance smells. In a sense it has become, evil. The moderators are completely biased in holding up an image of positive feelings always. Everyone wins, all of the time. Everyone receives an award but if you misbehave, shame! No negativity here. No no no! The website is a joke. Navigating it is even worse and may I add, hideous to look at. The database is decent, that’s about it. Here’s some great pointers.

1) Biased moderators who do not believe in the Constitution of the United States of America.

2) Overly sensitive snowflakes everywhere who think they own the website. They’ll have you banned, just give it time.

3) God forbid you post a negative review about somebody’s special perfume, or even your own special perfume. Deleted to begin, and then eventually banned if you keep posting about how much you still dislike the scent.

4) Apparently in the perfume world, the word ‘old lady’ is as bad as dropping the N bomb in front of a black person. In fact, if you privately message another Fragrantica user and type the word old lady anywhere in your message, in the sent message on the receiver’s side, it will be censored and read as ‘Bank of London’.

5) The website is chocked with territorial loony people who will have you banned at the drop of a hat if their views do not coincide with yours by posting a negative review.

6) Absolutely useless reviews and note voting system that tells you nothing.

7) Way too many ads.

8) Zero freedom of speech.

9) A really strange thumbs up/thumbs down voting system that eventually leads to your honest, unbiased and straight forward review being deleted.

10) Trolls and sock puppets who have multiple accounts to manipulate note voting and reviews, including cyber bullying.

11) If anything related to China is posted anywhere (positive, neutral or the most hateful speech ever) including the forum, you’re instantly banned for life via IP address.

12) Posting anything anywhere concerning suspicions of the validity of Fragrantica and how they handle confrontational posts equates to an instant ban. They gotta keep up that image remember?

13) Voting for notes is incredibly inaccurate. DO NOT believe anything you see or read. Just don’t even use this website.

14) Rainbows and unicorns. Fragrantica loves to keep their squeaky clean image… or else!

15) It’s the ‘feel good’ website. No negative anything allowed, ever! Everything must be happy happy happy all of the time or else… BANNED!

As the reviewer has stated below which I will agree with whole heartedly, Fragrantica as a whole, including their staff are 100% far left, anti-Americans who DO NOT believe in the freedom of speech. The website is heavily censored and biased.

Avoid Fragrantica. If you fancy honest reviews and a legitimate website with professional individuals, use Basenotes. At least over there your negative and honest review will stay forever. Nobody can ever vote it down, and things you post will not be deleted. They believe in the freedom of speech. Basenotes is located in the United Kingdom. Avoid Parfumo, they’re the German version of Fragrantica. You cannot post anything negative, ever, including the word old lady or else… BANNED by Karen!
