Helpful and friendly staff and a clean organised store with a good selection of products.

Everything was good

We went in to look for a waterproof coat for my wife. The staff assisting us (Julie & Simona) were delightful. Friendly, knowledgeable, constructive and informative. Great ambassadors for Go Outdoors. Whilst there we also bought a gas stove and at the check-out Regan was the ultimate professional confirming the returns policy, ensuring we had all we needed whilst at the same time doing this in a friendly manner. In short the staff on duty made the visit a positive one. Thank you.

Staff member had a sort of switchblade or pocket knife that they pulled from their pocket and was playing with on the shop floor (cannot remember the date of this event) and multiple staff members on shop floor today opening boxes with knives that aren’t safety ones. Not very safe for customers or staff.

Excellent service, quick online delivery, really easy and reasonable returns procedure! A store has just opened local to us which allowed me to return one of my items for a different size, they were also all incredibly helpful!

I checked online and (apparently) the store had the shorts I wanted in stock. Unfortunately the GoOutdoors stock computer seems to only update every few days and the shorts had been sold the day before. Come on GoOutdoors - sort this out, it's 2026!
The people in the store were very helpful and apologetic and l bought an alternative pair of shorts.

We went to buy a tent and was helped by Kevin who was very helpful and answered all our questions and more and also carried it to the car

Simona has made my visit!

I walked into the store and she greeted me and asked if I needed any help, then proceeded to help me find everything I needed for my solo trip. I’ve never been camping and have very little knowledge, so it was great to have someone who could advice on the best gear to take on the 6-week hike. She helped me find a backpack and tent, sleeping bag, solo stove (which she explained how to work) and she even helped me find some clothing layers.

She was absolutely brilliant. Would definitely come back after my trip!

Staff members were keen to help, Jeremy was great and gave space when needed. Good store!

Simona served us today in Barnstaple and it was a great experience. She was very patient, knowledgeable and generally very friendly and professional. We bought two walking coats and are excited to try them out and we feel confident they'll be fit for purpose. Thank you Simona for the time you spent with us today. We'll be back when we're next in Devon.

The staff were extremely helpful and polite

I was only looking at the walking boots and trying on a few pairs when the sales assistant came over. He was extremely friendly, helpful, attentive in a non- pushy manner. After his advice and recommendations I tried on a pair of ladies Merrels. They fitted like a glove, I was delighted. Unfortunately the paying at the till was very rushed and although I spent approx £150 I felt that I was an inconvenience. As it was so rushed, I realised I was overcharged. I am aware this is a pricing/till error but I only noticed after the transaction. I found my original sales assistant and he sorted immediately. To be honest the rushed unpleasant experience at the till almost made me leave the items and walk out. Thank you again to the youngish chap that served me.

Regan and Felicity both provided outstanding customer service, helping me with redeeming a gift card and very patiently providing advice on size and fitting of a range of hiking boots. I eventually settled on a pair of Salomon boots. Much thanks to both Regan and Felicity for making my visit to Go Outdoors Barnstaple such a positive experience.

I had ordered a paddle board online and had traveled for 40 minutes to pick it up. On entering the car park, I received a message to say that my money had been refunded and the product was no longer in stock. Yes this was a massive disappointment but my goodness Julie pulled it all back to happiness. I genuinely have not received customer service like it. She went above and beyond in all honesty. She could have said sorry, given an excuse and moved on with her day but that was not the case. I walked out of that store with a paddle board after she had come up with a solution. I will always remember that day and I will always be grateful.
