Three months ago I was fitted and purchased a new set if irons for a well known golf stockists. The cost me £945, a considerable investment, but with the hopes to improve my game.
From day one I struggle with them, and for weeks I put it down to just needing more time to get use to them. This deterioration I my iron play just got worse, and loosing distance, I'll he honest, it was starting to get me down,
So as you do, I asked some of my low handicap friends for help. And when they saw my irons. They were gobsmacked, I'd been fitted and sold a set of Cobra blades, I'm a 24 handicapper,
I just haven't got the skill and talent to use blades.
Because of the amount of money I'd spent I persevered in trying to use the blades, but things just got worse,
I know I should have gone back to the people who sold them to me. But I just would have no confidence in them. I felt used and ripped off,
So I had hurd about Greg Nicholson golf and leisure,
I took my irons to Greg and explained my story, he just couldn't believe a reputable company would sell anyone with a 24 handicap a set of blades.
Within minutes of talking to Greg he went through in detail what I should be looking for, and what I should expect, Greg was very approachable, and he could see how I'd been on a emotional rollercoster ride of having to deal with my iron play, I know its only a game, but it's like anything, you want to do the best you can. And it you've had bad advice and fitted with the wrong tools. You'll never do well!!
Anyway Greg took my irons in partex and kitted me out with a set of Ping cavity back clubs. And I left feeling much better about myself and what to expect from my new irons. This was on Tuesday the 10th of October, and unfortunately because of work and weather, I couldn't get chance to use my new clubs until Sunday the 15th of October, where I was entered in to a club comp.
My iron play was amazing, absolutely totally different, it was exactly as Greg said it would be.
Infact I won the competition!!
So Greg thank you very much for all your help and support, you truly are a master at your craft, and from now on I wouldn't be going anywhere else for my golf clubs and equipment, and I'll recommend you to all of my friends,
Once again, thank you so much for your help, and giving me back my self esteem and confidence in golf.

After purchasing fitted clubs, which were set up by Greg and delivered on time, I have been following up with lessons throughout this year to make the most of the new investment. Greg is clearly knowledgeable on the intricacies of why a swing isn't right. The small adjustments along the way have really improved my game.

The best way I can sum up my review is to copy and paste the e-mail I sent after speaking to Greg, as my e-mail was returned undeliverable for some reason. This was after ordering (and paying) online for a Stewart Golf bag. When I ordered it on 24/9/23, out of normal business hours, it clearly stated that it was IN STOCK and was due 3-4 business days. Having not received it or heard anything, I telephoned today, and then e-mailed Greg......

I felt compelled to e-mail you following the extremely frustrating conversation that I have just had with you on the telephone.

Whilst I fully appreciated the explanation you gave regarding the bag being out of stock, the fact remains that when I ordered the bag, it clearly stated that it was ‘in stock’ in green letters and would be delivered in 3-4 business days. Those are the irrefutable facts, are they not?

I am a very level headed reasonable guy however, I became increasingly frustrated at your insistence on talking over me which, despite your perfectly polite manner, was extremely rude!

Just because I paid a lot of money for the Stewart trolley, does not mean that I want to pay £280 for an alternative golf bag - waterproof or not. It is my prerogative, and none of your business incidentally, whether or not I want that kind of bag. To make a comment like, why would you want an expensive Stewart trolley with a sh1tty golf bag on it, is not really helpful and is quite offensive…in it’s language if nothing else!

It has taken me to call you to find out where the bag is, so regardless of what you say about being in touch with Stewart this week, you ought to have known last week (ie when the bag was due to come to me) that you cold not fulfil the order….but still nobody contacted me!

Telling me that I should’ve called you and you would’ve told me it was out of stock is ridiculous and a bit of a moot point. That is partly what online sales are for - ie not normal business hours for convenience - and anyway, why would I call you when, as far as I was concerned, the item was in stock. I’m not entirely sure how long I would’ve had to have waited before finding out when the bag was available whilst, in the meantime, you have the money for something I have no idea when I may receive it.

Anyway, now I have got that off my chest, I would appreciate a speedy refund and put this interaction down to a bad experience. You may not be surprised (or even bothered) to hear that I won’t be ordering anything from you in the future.

Had my second lesson today great experience and learning a lot to improve my golf

Ordered an M4 driver over the phone. Greg told me he had near perfect ex demo available if I could give him a couple of days As promised 2 days later messaged me to let me know he had it. Picked it up today and it was like brand new.
Great service and a quality product.

Inferior item sent. Was informed it was a new improved free upgrade ( it wasn't ).
Item didn't even look new. Was told I could return it for a refund but I would have to pay the return postage.

At 67 I wasn't thinking of changing my golf clubs, I thought I had the best, however, I succumbed (irons first) and treated myself to Cleveland Launcher XL Halo irons but custom fit. What a difference, shafts perfectly balanced, my hands aren't the best and the grips selected are amazing so now it's actually difficult not to hit them straight.
When I went to pick up my irons, I decided to buy the matching woods, same shafts and grips and I am not disappointed glad I did it.
Great advise from Greg without being pushy and while I paid more for having them custom fit, Greg didn't try to push the top of the range (most expensive) clubs but fixed me up with ones that would benefit me and they have.
I would definitely recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Greg was so helpful so much I booked a lesson with him.

I’ve just bought a srixon bag from Gregg first class service 👍 would definitely use Gregg again.

Greg managed to find me a second hand Callaway 3 wood and a second hand 7 wood for my wife which were both very good value. He helped us through the selection without hurrying and very kindly checked and sorted out my wife's grip at the same time. What a great find. I was so impressed - I wish I'd visited earlier.

Had a lesson from Greg last week and I learnt so much in one hour, very knowledgeable guy. Will book another soon.
Also, ordered a new odyssey putter from him about a month ago and it was delivered on time, as promised.

Thanks to the helpful contact with the shop, I received advice and ordered a set of Cleveland irons from them. The clubs required specific grips to be fitted due to my arthritis, and due to the grips the clubs needed slight adjustment.the clubs arrived safely today, very well packaged, within the quoted timescale, I have found the service very good and would have no problem dealing with this organisation in the future.

Fantastic customer service from Greg. I came in asking for some info on junior clubs and Greg went above and beyond to get the clubs I wanted for my son and had them all custom fitted too. I would recommend Greg to anyone who’s after a quality service and clubs.

My wife and I were passing Blakemere Village and took the opportunity to drop in for a first visit. Being a golfer, I decided to browse in Greg Nicholson Golf . I should have checked Trustpilot before I entered as I am now one of over 50% of people who rate him 1/5 having suffered from what I would describe as sharp practice.

Greg took time to build up my trust with nice small talk and then made me an offer I couldn't refuse. He was pushing a Cleveland driver and I asked if I could try it out as I wouldn’t buy it without trying it out first. He explained that his studio wasn’t available. "Take it away with you and try it out and if you don't like it, you can bring it back". Since he couldn’t let me try the club in his studio, he was letting me take it away to try. It seemed a very fair offer, and as it worked out it was too good to be true. What he actually meant to say was “ Pay me for the club in full now so that I can secure your cash”.

That night I visited the golf range to try it out and quickly decided I didn't like the club and phoned Greg the next day to organise a time to return it. The first 5 mins were Greg telling me I'm the only person ever to think this and that I should give it time but my mind was made up. It was only at this point that he made me aware of his returns policy and played his trump card. You have used the club which now makes it 2nd hand and so I can’t do a refund! Since I’d already told him I wasn’t going to buy the club without testing it, he knew exactly what he was doing when he allowed me to take it away and hence I was trapped.

Whilst its clear Greg has some happy customers, the majority of the reasons for so many people’s discontent with him could easily be rectified if he had the inclination to be clearer on what he offers, be it in store or online. Unfortunately, it’s clear from his trading history that he has chosen not to do this, and the real truth lies in what he chooses not to tell you. I doubt he will ever change but maybe the future will tell.

Don't just take my take my word for it, read his reviews. Never again ……….

Fantastic shop quality goods great service I will be going here for all my golf equipment from now on

Called about Driver, but didn't have loft/shaft I was looking for, but made a note and said they'd come back to me if they found anything. Few hours later the guys had gone into the warehouse and located exact spec I was looking for at very competitive price. Second time I've used them for clubs and exceeded expectations both times - thanks guys!

£15 for a pair of socks, sold to my 89 year old mother. No price on item and no receipt given. It's a shame cos now i will never ever revisit this store.

Very happy with my new graphite Cleveland irons. Greg recommended these based on my age and handicap and provided a free custom fit service.

I'm also having lessons with Greg. I'm a mid/high handicapper but thanks to Greg's clear explanations I'm beginning to turn theory into practice with 10 straight pars in a recent round.

Hope they have the item you want in stock. as evidently if you want a refund they only do them twice a month.

I ordered two Cutter and Buck sweaters on Oct. 8th. which showed as in-stock on their website, The goods were not delivered. I followed up on Sat Oct.15th and they offered me a different product. I declined, I requested a refund on my original order that they could not supply and was told that the refund would be processed after the weekend. They shipped the alternative products while I was on holidays and now want me to return the goods I didn’t ask for at my cost and will then “consider a suitable refund less restocking charges.
Judging by the other similar reviews this does appear to be their business model. I will drop off the unwanted and not ordered products to the charity shop and never deal with this company again.
