We visited the Ship (Harbour Hotel)…
We visited the Ship (Harbour Hotel) Chichester for an afternoon tea to celebrate a friend's special birthday. It was very empty but we're told that we would have to wait awhile as a party of 15 were coming in.
The afternoon tea finally arrived and looked good however, the brioche filled roll was so hard and dry along with the scones which were over baked plus the sausage roll pastry was sloppy. It was not worth £30 and to add to it we were charged £14.98 service charge. We would not recommend it!!!!
Stayed in the harbour Bristol last…
Stayed in the harbour Bristol last night, lovely room, however woken at 5.30am by a lorry delivering barrels, really noisy until 7.15 am, spoke to reception and they said that had not had any other complaints! It was soo noisy so find they hard to believe, room 314, avoid if you can! Very tired now,
Harbour Hotel Guildford, Surrey.
Nicely located hotel with nice staff especially restaurant staff. Cory at the restaurant was very nice.
Food was nice. Initially I was placed in a room with work going on above, when I complained I was moved to a nicer room. Comfortable bed and clean bathrooms.
I am indeed disappointed that they have not provided facilities to make oneself a cup of tea? No kettles nothing!!
Also, you pay almost half of your room rate for parking your car overnight!! £18 to park your car overnight?? What a rip off!! Won't be staying there again with my car!!
AN OVERPRICED BUDGET HOTEL
We were disappointed in many things whilst staying with you at Bristol hotel.
The dinner was the worst thing. I can truly say that you served us worst meal I had ever had in my life. I am no food snob but I do expect no junk food and fresh ingredients. When I booked our stay a few weeks ago I was told being vegan would be no trouble and I specified no burgers and no fast food and was told it was no problems and we were told there would be suitable options as we booked ahead and we had booked our table already and specified we were vegans.
As we arrived at the restaurant we were told there was one vegan Wellington and one burger left - made by soya protein. I said none of us want the burger. When I said to the lovely waitress that we will probably go in to the city and have a meal instead, she then went and spoke to the kitchen and after a while the chef agreed that actually he could rustle up two vegan Wellingtons.
What arrived at out table was a joke! It was clearly a defrosted pie - definitely not a Wellington by any stretch of the imagination and definitely not freshly cooked from scratch. The fat in it was congealed with mushrooms and really over cooked slimy spinach. On the side was a few squares of undercooked root vegetables and an almost black, foul tasting gravy. It looked terrible and tasted terrible - I just cannot get my head around why the chef would think that is an acceptable meal to present to anyone. The price of the meal on the menu was £21!!! No self respecting professional should be able to present that meal for that cost!! The waitress was wonderful and did what she could to make our visit better. She gave us a free cocktail each and a free glass of Prosecco each, though nice it doesn’t remove the fact that we were given absolutely the worst meals ever.
Then we went to our hotel room… we had paid for a Junior Suite as a treat but the room was very shabby. Stains on the sofa, stains on the floor, a few black hairs in the bath tub. Curtains and bed clothes were wonky and felt like someone left on a hurry.
The worst thing was that the room was so so cold. The man on the reception came to have a look and confirmed the heating was broken. He offered us heaters for the room but I asked for another junior suite. He found us one and the quality of that room was remarkable better. It was cleaner, no stains! And nicely put together. He put the heating on for us and it made a bit of a difference. Unfortunately the heating switched off in the night and I woke up in the middle of the night because I was so cold. I was surprised by the thin duvets that you have on the bed. For the the price that you charge I would definitely expect more of a luxury bedding. My daughter slept in her fleece as she was still a bit cold when she went to bed.
It was very cold in the room whilst getting ready in the morning. I thought a hot shower would help - but the water didn’t get very hot! It stayed at quite warm, but after being cold for hours I would have liked a really hot shower to help get my body temperature back to normal but that wasn’t possible. Then I thought I would make a nice coffee in your coffee machine. The mugs were upside down on the tray and when I tried to take one it was a bit stuck on the tray with old coffee. There was a black rim of coffee on the rim of the mug! So disgusting and off putting.
I know that you will now apologise and say that you have many happy customers, but that means nothing. You advertise yourself as a a bit of a luxury hotel but it is a sham. There are very few luxuries about your hotel. It is very shabby and dirty in places, the details are lacking and your food is horrendous. Your staff are nice but are only able to work with what they have - they cannot make miracles with what you give them to work with. You should tell the truth and advertise this hotel for what it actually is - an above average budget hotel. It is not a luxury hotel by any means!
Harbour hotel spa Sidmouth
Me and my wife been in this hotel today afternoon to get some rest and relax by the Spa. We also get a deep tissue massage from Nicola that was absolutely fantastic. I truly recommend it
Harbour Hotel Bristol - Wow what a spa experience!
Harbour Hotel Bristol! Just had the most amazing spa experience! Martha was absolutely FABULOUS, I had the Har spa ritual treatment and it was out of this world. I will definitely be back! Honestly Mother's Day is coming up, time to drop some Big hints! Nelly was a great host on the front desk and nothing was too much trouble! What a dream team! Seriously cannot wait to come back!
Harbour Hotel Chichester.
Harbour Hotel Chichester.
No heating in room. No hot water in shower. No manager or reception on duty to notify 5.30 Friday pm.
In the morning reported again - no manager , complaint now , I was formed by an unkempt receptionist, that the manager had every other weekend off to look after his children! How unprofessional and terribly disappointing - I wish I’d have stayed at home ! Cold!!!!
Really nice stay in the Richmond Hotel
Really nice stay in the Richmond Hotel. Rooms lovely, spa excellent, staff firendly and helpful. Loveley breakfast. Great location. Parking a bit challenging and larger robes required!
Sidmouth’s answer to Fawlty Towers
Sidmouth Harbour Hotel. Waited over 20 mins at reception. Maintenance man eventually tracked her down washing her cup! Bed was too high to get into/onto. Mattress was waist high. Eventually replaced with smaller mattress which didn’t fit but at least didn’t have to sleep
In chair! Receptionist ( same one) came up to see me .. knee badly damaged but she showed no concern and was rude and offensive!! Next day the room door was left open by cleaners. Receptionist ( yes same one) said no one had come into our room as she could see CCTV. No sign of cameras and no notice about it!! Were cameras in rooms? Shudder!! Was she never at reception as she was glued to CCtV? Housekeeping dodgy- glasses not replaced, no loo rolls, no tissues and fairly dirty surfaces. Walk in shower had no grab rails. Went to eat in restaurant and it was too depressing - waited over hour for starters and had to chase for kids meals. It really was Fawlty Towers as posters upside down in lift. Worst hotel stayed in and expensive too
Great hotel
We stayed in the Brighton Harbour hotel in September. Spotlessy clean, staff are very friendly and the room is beautiful. The addition of the 2 dog beds with a little toy each and water bowls in the bathroom was just lovely! Treats for humans too in the form of a complimentary gin and tonic was very thoughtful . Added touch of a birthday treat for the husband was lovely!
The only two watch outs I have are:
Being on the seafront means the sea view rooms are very noisy- the hotel is very upfront about this. The second point is that the bed is very very soft! If you like a soft bed you'll be fine , if you don't it's quite uncomfortable
Would definitely stay again
Thank you
The hotel staff were lovely
The hotel staff were lovely, but so disappointed that there’s a charge of £10 for a cooked breakfast - continental breakfast included but so very sugar heavy, we stayed here years ago and at that time any breakfast food was included in the price of the room ( which is quite expensive) we have stayed in many 4 star hotels and not experienced this before, it’s a shame, as we will think twice before booking to stay at harbour hotels in future, no reflection in the staff as they were lovely - but shame on the senior leader who sanctioned this, why?
Absolute shambles
Absolute shambles. Totally overpriced, dishonest staff and absolutely no customer care. Our room had a sewage smell and we gave them the chance to fix this. They were unable to do so and we waited with our bags in reception until nearly midnight for an alternative room. Both members of staff agree that the smell was bad enough for us to be moved. In the morning we were told that we could have complimentary breakfast as an apology. The rooms are small and basic and not worth the money. Despite raising the concerns with head office we were told that complimentary breakfast was more than adequate as an apology for an awful night stay. I think they get their business from the cruise ships so don’t have any regard for customer satisfaction. If you want to sleep in a room with no windows that open and the smell of sewage and receive rude communications then this is the hotel for you. My advice, avoid. For a couple of hundred more per night you could stay at The Savoy and be treated with kindness and politeness.
No idea how this is still in business
No idea how this is still in business. It is laughable. I’d rather go to a hostel. Staff are absolutely VILE. We got scammed. BRIGHTON! Will take your money and more and block your number!
Absolutely awful hotel
Absolutely awful hotel, it smells damp, we booked for the weekend but left the next day, crazy house keeper Louise who is racist and crazy mad woman, we received a really bad welcome. Never again will be stopping there again. Avoid if possible
Harbour Hotel & Spa Sidmouth Devon
Room was meant to be twin superior but not the room we picked online when we asked about this though was told web pictures changed though checked week before we were getting the room we chose. Balcony shared by other. Housekeeping was appalling some days towels left other days no towels. Everything was hit and miss with this service. The bathroom had black mould all up the tiled corner wall and around the shower door. When complained a quick squirt of masic was added but the mould could still been seen. Seats in bedroom staines all over them. Walls touched up with wrong paint shade. Beds thrown back never made well. Arrival bar restaurant staff still bottling up when service was in place and when asked to order which we went to the bar to do. Bar supervisor most unpleasant rude and huffing and throwing things around for being disturbed from bottling up by a untrained staff member who took our order. Restaurant bar employee male wearing scuff jeans hanging off him and looked very scuff for restaurant waiter. Swimming pool outside just about wide enough for two but not great Car park was over subscribed so every night coming back was stressful as only other place to park is a car park across the road at a charge of £8.00 over night. All in all tired hotel and summer hotels had not even started. The only good thing to say about or stay was the two girls on reception dealt with all our room service issues as quick as they could and were always apologising for the house keeping staff. Finally tv Internet drops out all the time and Sunday morning we had no hot water until early afternoon. Will not be recommending or retur ing.
Eventful evening
We had our event on the 26th June in Harbour hotel Guildford. Our yearly summer BBQ. Had about 50 attendees outside the patio bit after our CPD talk. If I remember, it was Emily and Amy that served us through the whole night. Amazing young women who we are ever so grateful with every request for the night they tend to. The night couldn’t have gone any smoother without them. Such polite and great people/customer skills they have. Thank you ever so much!
Not a great welcome back from Harbour…
Not a great welcome back from Harbour Hotel Brighton. It is a big let down from the Harbour hotel to send a discount code to welcome back a customer who has stayed at the hotel previously and cannot use the code to book a night at the hotel with the discount code. Not only that there is no option when booking to apply a discount code. I will look for somewhere else to stay and i was booking direct with the hotel and booked direct last time. Lost a customer as a result.
Harbour Spa Southampton
Harbour Spa Southampton. Paid £125 for 1 hour all over body massage and was not impressed. Time of treatment moved forward which messed up other plans. Massage was done in 40 minutes. Cold room. No heated beds. Therapist had long nails which dug in. Claim to use Elemis products yet the ones out for use were not Elemis. Very painful massage and fronts of legs and décolletage completely missed. Never again.
Arranged a birthday celebration dinner…
Arranged a birthday celebration dinner several months in advance for 35 people with Sophie Caddock who was very helpful and friendly. The venue, food and waiting staff were excellent, everyone had a great time on what was a very special occasion! Many thanks Sophie and team!
Harbour Hotels
We visit the Harbour in Padstow and the Jetty in Southampton on quite a regular basis and find the level of service very good, the hotels themselves are very well decorated and in good repair, the selection of drinks and food is of a very high standard, and the staff are always on good form.
They are not the cheapest of hotels however the environment and service is worth the extra and they also make a very good Cosmo!
They make a point of having venues is often the best spots at the destination and some are also dog friendly!
Well worth a little treat now and then! Out home Jetty at their Signature Hotel in Ocean Village has an excellent restaurant thanks to Chef Alex and his team.
