Poor service and communication lack of transparency.

Bought a new vehicle, told it has a fault but no replacement parts available as yet to carry out the repair.
HSF denied this to the finance company.
Offered a temporary fix but unable to schedule this due to a lack of a courtesy vehicle. Poor communication throughout. Simply put they do not value their customers.

Tonbridge Volvo is a total disgrace.

Impossible to get Service dept on phone. If you somehow do penetrate their defence (generally cut you off or leave phone ringing) they will probably fob you off and say they will call you back - they won’t!

I recently had to drive 5 miles to bring up an issue with my Ex30 - which is being recalled - with no update on whether they identify, let alone fix the problem - and all I got was someone telling me he was too busy to hear my problem. After some reasoning he relented and was semi helpful, but seriously It’s just incredible how they make you feel as if they are somehow doing you a favour! I mean it’s literally their job for gods sake!

In 40 years of buying cars this Volvo dealership is head & shoulders the worst!

Just total incompetency and disinterest in all departments as far as my experience goes. It will absolutely put me off buying Volvo cars again.

Currently they’ve had my car in all day. No update, no report back on the issues, no sneering phones - albeit Sales pick up on second ring every time. Funny that!

I would like to have given ZERO stats but it isn’t an option. Shame!

Overall a very disappointing…

Overall a very disappointing experience. Worthy of a complaint to head office. I have emailed a number of times about a very serious problem with my Volvo. Following a product recall of my brand new car due to a fire risk and nobody can be bothered to even reply. That is volvo HQ, the dealer, and the finance company. Nobody cares enough to even reply

Extremely poor experience with Volvo…

Extremely poor experience with Volvo Guildford. Despite repeated requests, I have still not received my car’s full service history, diagnostic reports, or even a clear response.

My vehicle has been with them for over a week now yet Volvo could not explain an ongoing oil leak or turbo issue — even though the same oil problem was reported 2 months ago as a result of that issue
Not fixed properly i am now facing a bigger turbo issue . Instead, I was told to pay an additional £800 for more diagnostics, with no guarantee of answers

I have had to chase continuously, and at the time of writing my car has still not been returned and no proper response has been provided. This lack of communication, transparency, and accountability is unacceptable from an authorised Volvo dealership.

Be careful. Endlessly trying to make a profit.

I have had Volvo's for many years now. A V70, then a V60 and was planning to replace it.
I went to Leathrhead Volvo and the experience has been awful. Misleading statements, changing prices, changing quotes, mistakes and errors.
They're always trying to make a buck. Desperate for finance, misled me on the APR through the process. Made offers to secure my purchase then tried to retract them if I didn't use their finance. Service was awful. Paperwork mistakes. Misleading information. Im spending £38k and I have got better service at Argos buying Lego.
I love Volvo but dont use HSF, they're rubbish and dishonest.

Consistently reliable

I have used Squire Furneaux Volvo for my last 3 cars and have had no cause for complaint. I have my car services and MOT's done there too, as am reassured by the consistent quality of their work.

My most recent acquisition was in September this year - an XC60, sizing down from an XC90.
I was assisted by Andrew Meliniotis, who I can not recommend highly enough. He was patient and thorough, really concerned with helping me find the right car for my context and very personable (a bunch of flowers on my birthday was a nice touch!). He is a credit to HSF.
I continue to be a loyal client and can only advocate for anyone looking for a positive experience. Great cars, a slick/professional operation and lovely team.

We purchased an XC90 today at Volvo Leatherhead. Max and Lewis were absolutely spot on with us from start to finish
Very patient with all of our questions
Very informative and attentive via phone, email and in person
Lewis has a great way with people and did the handover with us today. Then Max spent a long time showing my wife the functionality of the car, logging into the Volvo app with her etc
Both of them are a credit to the business

From Hello to Handover—HSF Volvo Tonbridge Nailed It

From the moment I walked into HSF Volvo Tonbridge, I felt like I was in good hands. The team struck the perfect balance - warm without being pushy, knowledgeable without being patronising, and genuinely enthusiastic about the Volvo brand. I was interested in the new EX40, and they made the entire process—from test drive to final paperwork—smooth, transparent, and surprisingly enjoyable. I especially appreciated how accommodating they were.when we requested a second test drive along a pre-planned route.

What really set them apart was their customer care. No pressure, no gimmicks, just honest advice and a sincere commitment to helping us make the right choice. We felt supported by everyone, from front of house to Luke McGrath, the Transaction and Compliance Manager, who personally introduced himself and made himself available should we need anything.

Special thanks go to Rob Barnes, our Sales Consultant, who seamlessly took over from Craig Kimber to manage the build and handover, and to Jack Sayer, the Branch Product Specialist. Rob and Craig both took the time to understand our needs and matched us with the ideal model, spec, and thoughtful add-ons (like a folding weatherproof boot mat and dash cams). Crucially, they never tried to upsell. Jack’s handover was thorough and reassuring—his deep product knowledge made us feel confident and excited to drive away in what was, for us, a completely new car and our first fully electric vehicle.

As for the EX40 itself—it’s an absolute joy. Sleek, powerful, and loaded with genuinely useful tech. Its infotainment system is intuitive and clearly designed with the user in mind. Volvo has masterfully blended sustainability with luxury, all while staying true to the Swedish design principle of "funkis" — form follows function.

Today

Today, they have saved the day for me..... I have a 5 year old car and had to get an MOT somewhere else as Volvo earliest date was exceeding my MOT expiry date.

Anyway, i took a car in good condition and was hoping to collect it in 1 hour with pass on my MOT. That did not happened as the Volvo came out of MOT service with a flashing light on the dashboard ( something that wasn't there before MOT)...... So i had no choice , but go to Volvo Leatherhead branch and beg them for help as this was my last day of road tax (something i can't get without an MOT)..... My hopes were low to be fair, but to my amazement, they checked the car, told me what it is, fixed it the same day and done an MOT on it too..... This was simply amazing from my point of you and something that requires recognizing..... Thank you Team Volvo Leatherhead.....

I enquired about a car this garage has for sale and when they didn’t offer me a suitable part exchange for my vehicle they just went silent and wouldn’t work with me to find a satisfactory outcome for both of us,
I wouldn’t recommend this garage if you are looking at buying a second hand car, avoid at all costs

Part exchanged V40 and had an awful…

Part exchanged V40 and had an awful experience with car bought in December 2024. It is not drivable, taken away on a Recovery lorry twice and I feel wholly distressed by the entire awful situation. Ruined the weekend as cancelled special trip to Dorset and spend more on Taxis getting to work than I earn. I cannot recommend McNaughton Ross HSF Volvo in Ticehurst.

Purchased a new (demonstrator) car

Purchased a new (demonstrator) car, which had four areas of damage. Rather than an apology for their poor pre-inspection, an excuse: “You wanted the car too soon”. When the car was repaired existing damage was missed, resulting in a further day without the car. Our disappointment and inconvenience were not recognised or compensated by the garage. I would not recommend this garage,

Three months and still waiting for an invoice

Three months after an expensive repair that should never have been necessary - given the age and low mileage of my XC90 - HSF has still not provided me with an invoice.

My many requests have been ignored. I assume from this, among other things, HSF is not prepared to stand by the quality of its work. So, I have no warranty/guarantee for the work carried out.

This isn't the level of customer service or integrity I'd expect from a Volvo main dealer. But my experience is limited to that of HSF, so who knows?

Showed interest and genuine customer care. What a pleasure.

I bought my 2020 XC40 B4 Mild Hybrid from Squire Furneaux in March this year. The car developed a turbo fault which I tried to resolve with the local Bristol Dealer. I won't tell the sorry tale about how appalling they were here as I have left a very different review of them. Suffice to say the Bristol dealer was awful and told me my turbo rattling noise was "normal"

The team at Squire Furneaux were genuinely interested, helpful and caring. They diagnosd the fault within 24 hrs and then scheduled a warranty replacement for the turbo. It was a pain to drive to Guildford and back twice but they gave me a courtesy car both times and showed real concern that I had to make those journeys. I have to say that I would not hesitate to return even for an annual service rather than go anywhere near the Bristol dealer again.

Nightmare

Nightmare. Last service was summer 2023. Unbeknown to us, when we returned this week with an issue, the Orpington site had closed and moved to Eltham. Unfortunately they failed to mention this on their 01689 number when we booked it in a few weeks before. Has we of known we would have booked it in with the Tonbridge dealer. And as they had it over 2 days because they had to get a part that was 2 days emission charge x 2 as I was collecting and dropping off husband in my car. We were not the only ones in this predicament either as we witnessed another disgruntled customer.

Overall Distressing experience

I spent close to £43k with Volvo Tonbridge (HSF Group). I was on the receiving end of many miscommunications and lack of follow ups which forced me to make 8 unnecessary journeys to the dealership over the course of 5 months. Despite the car is still under warranty, I had to pay £430 for diagnostics following a breakdown, which Volvo Tonbridge attributes to the faulty installation of a dashcam by a third party (a Nextbase 522GW front/rear installed by Halfords). To resolve the situation I had to pay £280 for an 'equivalent' Volvo approved dashcam only to find out it is front facing only, plugged into the 12v socket with wires clearly visible and and the camera placed at eye level of the passenger front window.

Terrible service from HSF group…

Terrible service from HSF group Parkside Orpington.
I took my car in for a new washer pump and MOT today.
I received a call saying the car has had the washer pump replaced and passed MOT but they also found a fault with rear washer (blocked) so they have unblocked it at £37 extra cost (No consulting us prior, work already done).
Anyway picked up car and found a large scratch on rear bumper and car was absolutely filthy especially on back window where they have obviously just flushed, sprayed or jetted wiper and jets.
When I addressed the worker he said a vehicle inspection hadn't been done on acceptance of vehicle and he was shocked and surprised car was in such a state (unwashed and filthy).
He advised us manager would call on Monday......
On a previous visit to this dealer we had a fuel cover replacement as fuel door kept jamming and not opening.
We was so careful by only opening the cap with a tiny flat head screwdriver covered in a dust cloth so not to damage paintwork..... but when we took it in to be fixed they obviously opened the fuel cap using something metal and had several half circular metal chips around fuel flap opening..... We didnt say anything then as we was so happy to of got it fixed we just let it go......but not this time!
