This was our second trip with inside Japan and again the recommendations and attention to detail are amazing!

This is our fourth small group excursion (our first with Inside Japan), and it was fantastic. We went as a family with two college-age kids. Kinga was our guide for a Classic Japan tour, and you couldn't ask for a better guide - knowledgeable and very organized. We would definitely go one another small group tour with Inside Japan.

Terrible. Poor itinerary, poor knowledge, poor guides, and over priced. To be avoided at all costs.

We took the Classic Japan small group tour in May. The trip leader was very good as were the hotels/ryokans and their locations. Getting from one place to another via taxis, trains, and walking was at times very hectic and rushed (and tiring). The itinerary was very good and allowed us to sample the big cities as well as some smaller towns. The Japanese alps were stunning. The only major complaint I would have is that the tour was quite pricey, especially considering how inexpensive Japan is today. The Japanese Yen is historically low with respect to the US Dollar resulting in surprisingly low prices for food, transportation and hotels. Got to hand it to Inside Japan Tours for being able to maintain very high prices in spite of the low costs. I understand that the company, Inside Travel Group, has been bought out by a private equity firm as well as a sovereign wealth fund, which makes sense since the company can maintain high profits while growing their product offerings beyond Japan. Good for them. Not quite so good for the traveler.

Great trip! The company was amazing at having the schedule figured out, the longer train rides all booked, and tour guides to see some of the sights better.

Our holiday, 4 adults and 1 child, was very well organised. Accommodation was great. Travel tickets for Shinkansen, trains, Subway and busses were very well organised and worked like clockwork. Park tickets and other experiences were all good. Our guide in Kyoto, Ms Kyoko Miyazaki, was lovely.

As first time travellers to Japan, Inside Japan helped our family of 5 (3 x 18 - 22 year olds) craft the perfect trip. We packed a lot in and got to see so many different places. Their expertise was invaluable for helping us get the most out of our trip. Their logistics and travelling planning was second to none and the small but important details around staying connected to the internet when we were there. Our planner was Mark and he was brilliant - great recommendations and always followed up. Would heartily recommend!

I had an incredible time on the Japan Unmasked tour. It was very well organized from the hotels to the transportation. Our guide was knowledgeable and professional. I loved being able to see parts of Japan that are off the beaten path. Taking public transportation was fun and I felt like a native. I would definitely recommend this tour company.

baggage handling was Ok when cases were moved to the next hotel but when we had to manhandle cases on public transport was very unsatisfactory. The last hotel insisted that all the party had dinned at 5.30pm - way too early and inflexible

The tour was very well organized with a variety of experiences. Some were very special and different eg drumming lesson, the non—verbal show, the geisha performance/questions, the sweet making and the Buddhist meditation. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, helpful and, being an English speaker, easy to understand. An excellent tour!

the trip exceeded my expectations in so many ways - we saw so much more than what was in the material i received. Our guide David was so knowledgeable and fun and shared some of his own experiences while studying and immersing himself in the language and culture of Japan. I booked the trip within an hour and would very highly recommend Inside Japan!

Listened to my interests and requests; did very detailed and careful planning; responsive to emails /questions; gave me detailed instructions for my solo trip; the 10 day trip was terrific!

We had a great itinerary; and it was helpful having all our train and bus tickets taken care of ahead of time. Having the mobile hotspot device was very helpful. With one glaring exception, all of the other hotels that were selected for us were lovely and in great locations. (The one ryokan in the mountains was a real outlier.)

Our tour leader Hanan was exceptional! She was knowledgeable, professional, enthusiastic, hardworking and thorough. Hanan deeply cared about each group member and took the time to get to know each one of us and to make sure that the trip was a pleasant experience for each of us. The trip exceeded my expectations - the itinerary, hotels, experiences, and sites were just amazing. However, the booking process to simply add 2 extra days in Tokyo at the front end of the trip was frustrating and didn't have to be so. It seemed like Inside Japan's booking representative in the U.S. wasn't used to setting up a pre-trip extension and my friend and I had to circle back around several times to get it organized. If I did it over again, I would use an independent travel agent to set up the 2 day pre-trip extension.

Wonderful tour for our family of four. Our guide could not have been better! Would highly recommend!

Over 8 days, Inside Japan had organised everything. All our connections worked, there was always a car or guide on time as per our schedule. Comfortable hotels. A very enjoyable time prior to our bird-watching.

Everything was well thought out and the directions were very informative and clear. And Kelly Carr, the travel consultant we worked with was excellent.

Our tour guide Yuki was the best! She was a real pro who make leading our group look easy and her personality was so fun and also relaxed.
