It was disappointing not to have a Japanese guide take us through Japan.
Our guide was European and lacked authenticity, it didn't feel like I was getting a feel of local life in the neighbourhoods we visited.
The accommodation was nice however the Osaka property was tired and dated.

The tour was fantastic. Our guide, Michael, was very knowledgeable and helpful. The hotels were all very nice. Loved the roykans. The tour was well paced and all the places were very interesting. This is the second tour we have gone on with Inside Japan and we would definitely use them again!
Booking was easy and they are very easy to communicate with. They answered all of my questions in a timely manner.

The best was the tourleader and. The people in the group. Maybe I was very lucky. The worst was the info before the trip, which I got the first evening, but the trip was too full of activities, so no time/too tired to study before.
Also still confusing, that I never knew whats included and what not BEFORE the trip and an idea how much the food would be, so the cost of these 14 days I cant repeat for other trips with you.

This was a fantastic holiday expertly arranged by Inside Japan who provided great advice and brilliant support.

Amazing experience on the small group Hidden Japan tour.

Our guide, David was well prepared, thoughtful and informative. He kept us organised without micro managing and really helped us enjoy the tour.

All the experiences and locations were wonderful. Inside Japan has chosen lovely local guides and interesting places to visit.

We couldn't have seen as much on our own. You just dont know how much time to reasonably spend somewhere. We'd have been constantly worried about travel connections too so it was nice to have someone take care of that.

The food was excellent, both included with the tour and recommendations from David.

David also helped me make a visit to the Studio Ghibli shop separate to the main group.

It's a busy tour but easily manageable if you're ok at 10k steps a day. Good variety of cultural activities. My favourites were the kabuki theatre, the art island, okonomiyaki pancakes and Ritsurin gardens. But all of it is of such a high standard.

Booking and admin staff also very helpful, big shout out to Lucie.

Well organised. Pick ups were always on time and staff polite. Nice hotels and tour guides were knowledgeable and could speak English well.

On the improvement side, the company could have provided a metro card with a balance on it to get you started. I also felt it would have been nice if someone had reached out to us to check everything was going well while we were in Japan.

I have booked with Inside Japan tours twice now and have had the most amazing trips with self guided itineraries. I have travelled to Japan six times in total but the last two trips planned by Inside Japan and in particular my travel consultant Stephanie have been the best ever. From the amazing accomodation, off the beaten path local experiences to the thorough personalised itinerary booklet and tickets all waiting for you at your first hotel, it has been the best way and the most enjoyable trips ever. Highly highly recommend and it won’t be my last time.

Our pre-trip advisor Jenny and our guide Akemi were outstanding. Jenny answered all my questions promptly and in great detail - that helped us a lot to get ready for our trip. Akemi was simply amazing - excellent organization, knowledge about Japan, positive energy and human kindness was contagious!
Our whole group loved her. We also loved all destinations and points of interest that Akemi highlighted for us.
One complaint - most of hour hotel rooms were too small.

Inside Japan advised us, they planned our trip tailored to what we wanted, as a self guided holiday. They booked hotels, trains, guides etc. Everything worked smoothly. They made it easy for us to have a wonderful trip - the holiday of a lifetime. Totally recommend them.

Really great service provider, they helped us at every step of the planning process and once we got to Japan, everything was prepared for us meticulously. Hotel and travel preferences had been taken into account as well as our need for guided and self-exploration. Really recommend Inside Japan!

Planning by Inside Japan on our self-guided adventure exceeded our expectations. Hotels, transporation, guides, and experiences were all wonderful.

The entire package was tailored to what we wanted. We had a few key areas we wanted to visit. Jess made a clear, entertaining and concise tour pack. We had a good mixture of busy days and casual days with many good food suggestions. Everything was made easy and when an issue occurred (weather). The entire team helped and ensured we were safe and got home with as little stress as possible.

The organization of our tour and the information provided to us was first rate

Our trip planner was fabulous - every detail was attended to - great selections of hotels, cost, timing, and logistics - we expect to go back again and use IJ.

I feel everything was rushed and we had little time to see a few original museums.
We did not need to stop for lunch the day we went to the spa. We got there late and hardly had any time to enjoy the facilitie.
In Hiroshima we were rushed and did not get a chance to see the museum.
Also in Tokyo there was no reason for us not to see the Sumo wrestlers. We were right across the street. Very disappointed. We were also so tired we could not go to the Edo museum and the other art museum.
I did appreciate the civilized time we got started each day
When we went to the island I think we could have been given a choice if we wanted to go on the tramway

All the accommodations were booked and had excellent locations for ease of access to transport and site seeing. All ticketing was booked and worked seamlessly for us. The tour guides were knowledgeable and helpful. Andrew was so easy to work with to tailor our trip and experiences. Everything went without any issues and when we came home we were still in awe of what a perfect experience it was. We cannot recommend this company and the people that worked with us enough. We will definitely return to Japan and will be using Inside Japan again. Domo arigatogozaimasu inside Japan
