The reason for such bad feedback is because of Kitchen Knives customer service! I placed my order and it stated the knife was in stock and their shipping was 2 days. After 3 weekdays I emailed them and asked why I hadn’t received any email confirmation regarding delivery since it was now 3 weekdays since I placed my order (during weekend, so that’s not included in the 3 days).

I was told they were waiting for delivery of my knife, so it didn’t start well since it had stated knife was in stock. They told me the knife would arrive at end of the week (this was a Wednesday). By end of the week I still didn’t receive any email regarding delivery, but I didn’t email them but it still said it was in stock on their website and it said that everyday until I had to email them AGAIN on Tuesday week after, asking where my order was since it kept saying in stock!

I gave them 2 alternatives which included compensation product if I didn’t get my knife within next 24h. They wasn’t even bothered to reply, but they did ship my knife immediately and I received email from courier same day saying my order was due for delivery next day on Wednesday.

Knife was delivered, but no apology email what so ever from Kitchen Knives! So I emailed them and told them how unhappy I was with their lack of service and updates since it had stated the knife was in stock ever since I placed my order during a weekend.

Now they apologies, after I had emailed them 3 times! I decided to give them a second chance since I needed 2 more Global knives since I had lost over £3000 worth of Global products during house move. I asked what they could offer me for those two knives… One knife they couldn’t do anything since it came with a Global Knife sharpener, which I had no use for since I only use wet stones. The second knife they offered me 5% off plus a second gift, but the 5% was because I had told them about another Global retailer who offered 5% discount for new customers on their first order. But Kitchen Knives only offered the 5% off on one of the knives because of the sharpener.

I emailed Harts of Spurs and they happily offered 10% off for my 2 knives that were sold for same price as Kitchen Knives… I decided to buy a more expensive limited edition chefs knife instead of the first intended G-2, so I got the GZ-2 with Carbon coating plus the G-9 bread knife and received 10% discount plus 6% cash back to be used at Harts of Spurs for my next order. In total that was little over £47 in total I received and £17 off my next order of the £47, and the £30 off the order I placed!

That was without Harts of Spur having given me a bad experience, and they offered a lot more than Kitchen Knives who had given me a bad experience! This is why my feedback is 1 star and has NOTHING to do with the brand Global, since I love Global products and their knives!

The Global knives are super great chefs knives, both for professionals and people who love cooking or just wants a very good knife in the kitchen. It’s more dangerous using a dull knife than a razor sharp knife and I can recommend Global knives, have used them since 1989!

The GS-7 is such a good knife that I love, it’s being a shorter knife with a flat cutting edge makes it perfect for cutting tomatoes, cucumber and fruit. I can easily cut tomatoes without even needing to put any pressure which you do need to do with tomatoes. That’s why many recommend serrated knife to cut tomatoes but with a very sharp knife like Global you don’t need a special serrated knife for tomatoes. I know Global have a special tomato knife that is serrated lol, get this DS-7 instead and a whetstone to keep it razor sharp!

Absolutely brilliant Sabatier knife, my son in law is delighted with it. However there were an awful lot of hoops to jump through to get it - that is in no way KitchenKnives fault, but to do with govt legislation about the availability of knives on the internet. KK bent over backwards to take my order, this must be causing them and other kitchen sites a massive headache... hats off to them.

Having read the positive reviews and products from KitchenKnives, I was eager to purchase from this company. However, I have been extremely disappointed with both the products and the company.

I'll begin with the Chef's Choice Diamond Hone Sharpener 3 Stage, which was something I had had my eye on purchasing for a while. I finally did, and I was very dissatisfied. I have many large chef's knives in good condition, and no matter which one I tried on the sharpener, it did not help whatsoever. In one instance, it even seemed that my knife had become less sharp, and even a bit dull, after using the sharpener. How this could have happened, I don't know, but all of this to say, this sharpener is not effective and I would highly recommend avoiding.

Secondly, I ordered the Katana Flame Paring Knife (9cm) Olivewood. I had only tried it once when the blade became wobbly and was no longer firmly attached to the handle. Not only did this make the knife unusable, but also dangerous. And this was after trying in ONCE. It was extremely poor quality, and I immediately requested a refund. The price was high, but it would have been warranted if the knife was soundly constructed. Again, I would not recommend.

From a company that claims to have "high-quality kitchen and chef's knives," I was extremely disappointed with the products I purchased.

On top of everything, KitchenKnives does not offer a free return, EVEN THOUGH THEIR PRODUCTS ARE FAULTY. It was extremely irritating that they took away 10£ from the refund. They are basically forcing the customer to pay because of their negligence in selling products that clearly do not live up to the standards they claim to uphold.

Excellent selection of products with a smooth and prompt delivery experience. Bought a Victorinox kitchen knife and couldn't be happier with the quality.

Bought for a present. The recipient is very pleased. What was two items came as one pack plus free chopping board. When I needed ton contact supplier over delivery dates, they were quick to respond and obliging.

My order took 18 days to arrive, despite being advertised and confirmed as next day delivery when I placed it.

During that time I made several phone calls and sent emails chasing the order. I was promised callbacks that never happened and was eventually told they were waiting to receive the item from their supplier. I was assured it would arrive by the end of that week, but it didn’t turn up until the following Wednesday.

The knife was intended as a birthday gift for the Monday, so this was extremely disappointing. Had I been given an honest delivery estimate, I would have cancelled the order and purchased it elsewhere.

The company did apologise, but after reading other reviews it appears my experience was not an isolated incident.

If they have the item you want and you’re happy to wait, you may be fine. However, if you need it by a specific date, I would recommend buying from another retailer.

I ordered a Wüsthof Chef’s Knife and Paring Knife set from this company for £182. The price was excellent, but unfortunately that’s where the positives end.

The chef’s knife arrived with a noticeably bowed blade and a bent tip, making it clearly defective straight out of the box.

I contacted customer services straight away. They were polite and replied reasonably quickly, but instead of simply sorting the issue, they said they needed to speak to Wüsthof first. This then turned into over two weeks of emails going back and forth.

After all that time, the resolution was simply to return the knives for a replacement or a refund—the exact same outcome that could have been offered from the start. I don’t understand why it took over two weeks to reach such an obvious solution.

By the time the knives are returned, processed and the refund actually reaches my bank account, I’ll have been without both a usable chef’s knife and my £182 for around a month. Which is completely and utterly unacceptable for a straightforward warranty issue.

The customer service staff themselves were courteous, but the way the issue was handled was unnecessarily slow and incredibly frustrating.

DO NOT BUY from this company - spend the extra couple of quid to purchase from a retailer with better customer services!!!

I’m really pleased with my order! Unfortunately, the wooden knife block arrived with a fault, but I contacted customer service and they responded very quickly and professionally. They were extremely helpful and resolved the issue without any hassle. Excellent customer service and a great overall experience. I wouldn’t hesitate to order from them again!

I would like to agree with what Rachel has said below ... I acknowledge kitchen knives response but don't really accept it... Whilst the company management mat portray this as a bit of fun , it is clearly not and is highly deceptive in nature. This concerns Cutler and Smyth a sister brand owned and operated by gastronomy plus , the same parent company of kitchen knives. This email is( made to look like an internal email with exclusive staff discount) but instead is sent out to all (by mistake) .... A follow up message is then sent saying the error is sorted and the code will no longer work . (Accept of course it does) Result people purchase on the basis that they feel they are achieving a level of discount that is not normally given throughout the year , whereas on reality the whole thing is fake.... And please before responding again as you did with Rachel to suggest that it is all a bit of fun , perhaps you could familiarise yourself with the rules of the Advertising Standards Agency which you have breached quite clearly here (I had planned to raise this with both them and trading standards but lucky for Gastronomy Plus t/a kitchen knives, Cutler & Smyth etc I have been too busy ) ...... Furthermore anyone considering the Cutler and Smyth knives even at the (50percent staff discount) it's really not worth it even at that price, the quality is pretty poor , with rust spots already appearing on the blade... For reference I own many good knives and know also how to look after them correctly .

This company uses deceptive marketing tactics. They send out so called generous discount codes pretending they are meant for someone else.

The first time they did it over Easter, they sent out a follow up email claiming it was a mistake.

But they have now sent out a similar email.

Don't trust them

The set of Global knives were on offer. They arrived well packed, safely and promptly. I would buy from this company again

Excellent service, delivery on time and got my product at a great price

The item I bought is superb (Kai Shun Premier 9cm Paring Knife). The ordering process was simple, however, the firm had to be reminded to send the item. Nevertheless, everything went well after that and I would certainly buy from this firm again.

This is a superb quality knife but my first reaction was how dangerous it could be in the wrong hands. I definitely think proof of age should be asked for. Also, as the knife is razor sharp, it should come with a sheath.
The knife slices through a potato like butter so one needs to be very careful. I would recommend with above provisos.

Fast delivery, no fuss. Knife met all of my expectations.
