About Littlefair's
Back in 2001, Les G. Littlefair began stocking wood stain products in his Darwen based bric-a-brac shop and soon noticed how well the products sold. As a joiner with an eye for perfection, he believed he could create an even better product that could enhance any untreated wood. After months of perfecting a product that was easy to use, environmentally friendly and beautiful to look at, Les began selling his first range. It wasn’t long until the success of his products enabled him to leave the bric-a-brac trade and concentrate on cultivating his own brand.
Based in Blackburn, Littlefair’s are multi award winning manufacturers of water-based wood dyes, varnishes, finishing oils and wax polishes. Quick delivery, product goes on really nice. I always sand before applying. I purchased medium oak for a vintage farmhouse look, I used 2 coats, no odour.

High quality and easy to use
High quality products, clear instructions, easy to use. Competitive pricing including on p&p. Still part way through putting life back into a tired rifle stock as I'm being thorough but the results so far are very promising. A little goes a very long way so I'm now looking for other things to refinish! A family business well worth supporting.

The products you see at a lower price on Amazon are distributed directly by them, whereas orders from our own warehouse include shipping costs. Unless you have Amazon Prime (which comes with its own fee), their products also have a shipping charge, so the overall cost usually works out about the same.

Started peeling off.
I used this varnish on something that I had made out of blackthorn and initially I was happy with the result. A couple of weeks later as I was getting the piece ready to be posted to the buyer I noticed that the varnish was beginning to peel away from the wood. I told the company and they said that blackthorn was waxy and their varnish would not ahere to it. Why did they not say that on their website??? I wanted to try a water based varnish that was less toxic but in the end it was a waste of time and money. It even had a really strong smell too! I will not be using this company again.
In answer to your online response as you have chosen to ignore my last two emails. I have NEVER had any problems with varnishing blackthorn in the past and I do not think that a bottle of Danish Oil would rectify the problem. I have had to sand all of your varnish off and lost some of the markings on the wood in the process. My buyer is not happy. I would appreciate it if I could return your product and have a full refund. Thank you!

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your experience with our varnish on blackthorn. As mentioned, blackthorn is naturally waxy, which can prevent adhesion, and we apologise if this information was not clear beforehand.
