Very bad customer service experience, do not recommend.

For people checking it out, Auto Renewal is clearly explained. READ the entire text before subscribing. Proven fact, most people do not do this.

After going on this site i didnt really like it. So stopped using it. I was unaware that i was on an automatic yearly payment of £39.99.
I have been paying for 4 years. I should have noticed it i know but just warning other people. PLEASE BE AWARE

Some games feel as though they are improving your skills. Repeatedly doing some of the memory and speed ones, for example, has been useful. However, the word-based games are scattershot. For example, the bubbles game, while enjoyable, has an odd scoring system and a number of reasonably well known words seem to have been unknown to the compilers. There is also one game with synonyms that is irritating because it is in a number of respects sloppy and inaccurate, as another reviewer has pointed out. Perhaps Luminosity could pay some grad students to check their word games?

Some games are ok and there are a wide enough range to appeal to different users BUT, this site should not to be taken too seriously.
The scoring makes no sense and is inconsistent. I assume this is to make you feel you need to try harder. Only a fool would fall for that. There are many games that require you to focus, unblinking to be able to play the game, not good for eyes.
In "word bubbles', the letters they give you to play are boring, predictable, some easy, others a joke, no sense in the scoring, play too often and you'll suffer disturbed sleep with those letters playing on your mind. There are too many English words they don't recognise so all very annoying.
They are inconsistent (some games have no option to send feedback) and patronising in their 'automated' feedback - same e-mailed response but nothing changes.
"Train of thought' - great - except, get 3 wrong and you're auto bumped down a level so how are you supposed to develop when you're punished this way. Players should be allowed to choose the level they wish to play at so your brain can develop, not be controlled by their developers.
'Disillusion' Aptly named game - they control what you can score by on occasion, allowing more bonus moves and other times very few. Sometimes you'll get a bonus if you complete the game, others not. No consistency or reasoning.
A newer game 'Robot Factory' belongs on a kids only site. They control speed and level of the game, the player is very restricted in what they can score. No 'Feedback' option - likely because they know it's a joke.
"Eagle Eye' Unless you can control when you blink or can keep your eye's open for the duration of the game, it's not worth playing.
'Raindrops' - great in that repetition improves math skills but annoying in that as in most games, they 'control' how high you can score by giving occasional bonus 'yellow' questions that either boost by a little or a lot but with no consistency in what you really deserve to score. These are just a few examples.
Overall, I'd say the developers of this site are lazy, making users want to believe they haven't done well enough to score higher and must keep trying to achieve when in reality, the games are just controlled and restricted by the developer.
They allow users to select a set of daily games, Opt for a selection of your 'Favourite games' and you'll get a selection of the games they want you to play, rarely any of your 'favourite' choices. When I complained, I was told this is because they want you to try different games....so, why offer the choice!! They are controlling.
I'm sure there are far better sites out there and doubt these games do much other than frustrate and irritate the user.
I play because I took out a paid subscription.
I no longer recommend this site.

Customer service at Lumosity - great!

I also had two consecutive years where payment was drawn down by Lumosity. After a great deal of hassle I was able to get a refund, but boy do they annoy you by making you wait.
Just recently, because I do like some of their 'games' I did sign up for a two year term. (I will have to remember to cancel before the end of two years...)
I then decided to check my bank account and discovered that in addition to my subscription they had accessed a further £174 (sterling) from my bank account listed under POS. ( listed as a separate transaction) I am having trouble now trying to get the additional money refunded, whilst retaining the legimate contract.
Something is very wrong here - this company needs to be investigated.

In reply to the review stating that they could not contact the company re a refund on a renewed subscription - I totally disagree. Having just received a refund within 8 hours of emailing Lumosity, I think it is an extremely efficient and ethical organisation. …And I enjoy the games!

Lumosity, I have always enjoyed Organic order but for a few months now there is no submit button when you have completed placing all the veggies and fruit to proper placement. Please fix so we can enjoy this again. Thank you

Their learning games are great and help keep me sharp. Recommend.

They should improve their tracking tools, though, to correlate things you do during the day to your scores, so you can learn about yourself and what makes you perform better.

Depending on what game you choose to play, Lumosity can be fun. I like word games (Word Bubbles, Word Snatchers, for instance). I have used the variants for American and English spellings in Word Bubbles for words such as "anesthesia/anaesthesia"and have been able to get away with it! I have never paid anything for this game and have been playing it since about 2017. So it is difficult to understand complaints from folks who said they started to play around the same time as I, and who were upset about the cost. WHAT cost?

Just average product/service in general, I think there are better brain training platforms out there now.

I had subscribed in Jan. 2020 for one year. There was no indication at that time that it will be automatically renewed. Lumosity charged my account for 2021 without ever notifying me. It is difficult to contact them as their phone does not get answered. Do not subscribe to this company. It is highly unethical. I am reporting them to BB and Consumer Protection Divn. of our Attorney General.

Rubbish! Do not bother with this app.

As a disabled elder, ugh, so necessary to "identify" these days, I have been using this site daily for the past 5 or 6 years, both as recreation and as a barometer of my ability to stay focused, multi-task, and eye hand co-ordination. This said, I have contacted them repeatedly over the years as a subscriber concerning the random placement of their "Feedback" button, which often obscures the resized/cropped playing field. Ironically, they do not seem to honor the function of this button, as they continue to do nothing about it. Worse, they always respond with the promise that they are, indeed, working on it. Lies will always come back to bite their purveyor.
Recently, I contacted them about a new issue, that of the "App", that was briefly available on my pc. I removed it for a clean install of Windows and the option disappeared from their webpage. They flat out denied such an app ever existed, yet another lie. I can only assume they are not reinvesting their profits with accountability in mind.
As for the site itself, it is a good concept that I am not yet prepared to bail on. It is my hope that they reinvest their profits into customer relations as well as product development.

This company charged my account for the yearly rate the "next day" after I signed up for a 14- day free trial. After numerous emails, they still would not rectify the situation, full refund, even after I offered proof that I registered for the free trial. The representative, although professional, blamed the charge on Google, even though my bank information clearly showed a Luminosity charge, and myself, for not providing a receipt (Why would there be one?).

It's unfortunate that most likely, other customers are also being charged without them even knowing it. Also, I really enjoyed this company's brain games in the past. But, I think it's more important that potential customers understand that this may happen to them too.

Currently, not one to stand by, I contacted my bank and they are handling this issue from here.

This programme is quite entertaining. Some of the games are very appealing for a while at any rate. However, they should introduce new games more often so one doesn't get bored,

But one particular game, Word Snatchers, makes me quite angry. It appears that the persons in charge of the game are quite ignorant of grammar. For a person who has taught English grammar, this is infuriating.

One is given some words or phrases and has to unravel some letters to find a synonym for these. But often you're given a noun or nouns and the correct (?) answer is an adjective or else the words given are worded completely incorrectly so you cannot use them to find the answer they want. Sometimes I feel that the persons in charge are practically illiterate and the last people that should have anything to do with such a game.

Sometimes the "correct" answer is in no way a synonym for the words given, I often get so irritated with their mistakes that I point them out but get no answer and the mistakes continue. Also the game does not accept British spelling, which is a fault.

The quality of the game is thus atrocious.

There is also a game, I think it's called Familiar Faces, where you have to remember the names of customers and the meals they order at a fast food shop.ALL the meals are absolutely unhealthy so I can hardly bear to play the game. If most Americans eat this sort of junk, and I believe they do, no wonder so many of them are ill.

There are some games that are both entertaining and challenging, such as Pirate Passage.

In all Lumosity is quite good.

Here is an example of a grave mistake in Word Snatchers: We're given an adjectival phrase "having a need for food" and have to find a one-word synonym with the given letters. The so-called correct answer is "hungrily", which is of course an adverb. The answer should have been "hungry". I've written to them about this but get of course no reply and nothing is changed.

I have used this app for years, starting way back in like 2012. I was looking for ways to develop and train baseline cognitive skills and improve performance in regards to such.

I am honestly surprised by the average low review here and overall lack of support for this service. I truly notice (and have logged notes and make full use of their 'insights' feature) how much this has helped and improved my skills. I can see in real-time areas of success and it brings me great joy.

Like any training or exercise the results are user-paced. So the more effort, interest, and perseverance one puts in is definitely correlated to the success.

I am very pleased with the site and mobile app. I would like to see them receive more funding and continue with enhancing the games and features.

I highly recommend, very useful, and fun !!!

SCAM!!! BEWARE!!!

Somehow they subscribe me without my permission on premium $45 dollars for 1 year!!!!
I would not pay even 1 dollar for this! It is not efficient at all!
