Brilliant. Totally glitch free. Very easy to instant get up and running. Bougofar too much data, 59 Gb, 5 would have been plenty for 2 week vacation

Fine but missing the opening hours of the counter in advance

It was a pity that the counter opened at 10 am, I was not knowing and missing in all the informations before. Maybe I was not reading carefully enough. We had to wait almost two hours at the airport. But the assistant was on time, so everything was quickly done. For the rest everything was perfect.

Less time spent at airport

Delivery to home means less time searching in the airport and also able to review the instructions beforehand

Thank you for your feedback! Home delivery is definitely a great option, as it gives you more time to prepare. For customers who can’t select this option for any reason, we’ve added pictures of our collection points and maps of the locations to our website where possible. These can be printed or screenshotted for convenience. All of the instructions in the user guide are also available on our support pages which are available for customers to view before hand if they wish to!

Reliable service

I use a Google phone, so the set-up of the service was not too straightforward, but I worked it out in the end with the extra step, which can be made more apparent at instructions of how to connect stage, rather than finding it in the Frequently Asked Questions. The connection is reliable and as fast as you advertise. Excellent value for money.

Best service

The toughest part was how long the phone number took to kick in (I think it took 24 hours, but I had an issue at the airport day of, so I would have needed it immediately).

The service was great and I'll definitely use it again when I go back to Japan.

Most activations are completed within 15-90 minutes; however, on rare occasions, such as during busy periods, it can take up to 24 hours.

I'm satisfied with the Mobal internet…

I'm satisfied with the Mobal internet device. Never experienced any break or network outage. Very simple to buy and use.

The delivery of the eSIM activation…

The delivery of the Japanese eSIM activation code could not happen before I left Australia. Then it took a whole day to activate as I was travelling at the time. This is most unlike my prior eSIM provider "SimCorner" who sent me the activation code within a few minutes of buying the eSIM for Europe in Australia.

Unlike data-only eSIM providers like SIMCorner, our Voice+Data eSIMs requires additional processing to get the Japanese number assigned. While activations typically take around 90 minutes, they can take longer during busy periods or if requested later in the day. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you!

We do offer data-only eSIMs, similar to SIMCorner, for use in Japan which can be activated within 15 minutes. If you’re looking for a quicker activation in the future, this might be a good option!

Alternatively you could have the eSIM Access code shipped to your home Australia ( Providing there is enough time to get it to you ) as this would allow you to pre-schedule your activation and ensure your eSIM is ready for you to use upon arrival.

Not bad connection but…

The connection isn’t bad, I used it for 2 years, but you can find way cheaper for the same amount of data or even unlimited connection for the same 100 GB limit price. If you’re going to stay long in Japan just like me, it’s not worth it. I ran out of GB half through the month whether it’s phone or WiFi. That’s the worse thing. If you’re staying short term, it’s good to use their E-Sim service.

We are unable to locate your account from the information you have provided (and so unfortunately, we are unable to provide specifics regarding your review) but for those that do not have access to domestic services within Japan, we do aim to offer a range of products and competitive plans to suit most needs / budgets.

Had issues getting the esim to work

Had issues getting the esim to work, removed it from device - error message said it wasn't pernament - couldn't replace it as it said it was already activated - support said I had to buy another one.

Support have now said they will replace the esim - DO NOT remove the ESIM from the device when troubleshooting - contact support they are helpful. Changing review to 2 stars.

We are sorry to hear that you encountered issues using your Data Only Japan Tourist eSIM.
As discussed with our Customer Service team, we believe the error message you saw (stating that the deletion of the eSIM was not permanent) was a generic message from your device and unfortunately, this is out of our control. However, we do of course apologise for any confusion this may have caused!

We can confirm that we provided clear instructions in the email you received containing your Data Only eSIM, as well as in our terms and conditions, advising not to delete the eSIM from your device as it could only be installed once and cannot be reissued. We also explain that should the eSIM be deleted you will be required to purchase a new one from our website.

Nevertheless, we are glad to hear that our Customer Service team have been able to offer support and come to a resolution with you.

Mobal sim all over Japan

I got a Mobal sim with a Japanese mobile number for my recent 3 month stay in Japan.
Travelling all over, from Akita in the north to Okinawa in the far south, the reception was excellent.
The cost was very reasonable and there was no need to carry a mobile wifi.

Get it before you go

I spend ½ my time in Japan. I need an inexpensive local mobile phone and mobile hub when I'm out and about. We have a land line there. I keep the Mobal line all year. When I'm out of Japan, I can reduce the allowable download so that the cost is minimal. It works very well. It's also a charity, so the expense creates value where it's needed.

Extremly poor data speed

I bought 2 esims with 30 gig/month while in Japan.
Both of them had crazy low speed connection. Like below 1mb/s.
I contacted the customer service, which to be fair was responsive, but they couldn't help in any way.

Edit: the customer service did reach out and outright refunded me for the past month. This was greatly appreciated from my side. So I am changing my review from 1 to 3 stars

This wasn't specific to some parts of Japan as we travelled all over the country and the issue was the same everywhere. I would not recommend their service to anybody. We were desperate for wifi the whole time and would have been better off going for anybody else but them.
