Unacceptable International Ordering Experience
INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS - DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM MUSIC DIRECT! DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE!
My experience with Music Direct has been extremely disappointing and unacceptable.
If Music Direct does not allow international customers to purchase certain products due to distribution restrictions, then their system should never allow those orders to be placed in the first place. My order was accepted, processed, and fully paid for—only to be canceled afterward. That is a failure of their ordering system, not the customer.
What makes this worse is the potential financial loss caused by currency exchange rate differences when refunds are issued. This means I may actually lose money due to an error entirely on Music Direct’s end. Canceling paid international orders after checkout is not just inconvenient—it’s unfair.
If Music Direct and MoFi Electronics have strict, non-negotiable policies:
They must be clearly disclosed before purchase, and
Their website should automatically block international orders at checkout, not after payment is taken.
Allowing international customers to complete purchases and then canceling them later is misleading and reflects very poorly on Music Direct’s customer experience, transparency, and technical competence.
I expected far better from a company with this reputation. Until their ordering system and policies are fixed, I would strongly caution international customers against ordering from Music Direct.

Brilliant service. Bought a Yamaha mixer unfortunately it developed a fault in a few days. Returned to the shop and they immediately ordered a replacement, was here in 2 days Brilliant

I've ordered equipment and records and called them for help and all I can say is they are the absolute best. Never had anything less than a five-star experience.
Atrocious company
Atrocious company , don't waste your money with them., ordered a vinyl album on the 8/09/24 , they took the money and ignored all emails asking for updates . Ive started a chargeback via bank against them and warn others not to order from them.
I'd give them -5 stars if I could.

Jon Shulman is not only a credit to his company, he's a model for competent, knowledgeable, and caring customer service. Made sure that changes to my order were made before it shipped. Also took the time to make sure that multiple payments were properly entered into the system. Jon patiently answered my many audio questions and helped me with several purchases that I wasn't 100% sure of. If Mr. Shulman is representative of the folks at Music Direct, then it must be the best audio solutions business in the US. Thank you.

Don't rely on their reviews
I posted a 2/5 review on a product I bought recently from Music Direct and they didn't publish it on their website. It seems they only publish positive reviews. So what's the point of having a customer feedback system where they filter out negative reviews?
Bad return policy
Ordered Elvis Presley Golden Records 2lp 45 rpm. Received unplayable scratched records. Assuming this was a used item. Payed for new. Customer service refused to do anything about it when I called.
Very pleased with organ supplied
A friend suggested that I contact Music Direct as I wished to buy a pre-used but good classical organ. Peter Braid recommended one that was in stock, a Viscount 232, and also arranged for several recordings to be made for me. This was very good service and as a result I was pleased to place an order for the instrument which last Wednesday was delivered expertly to my home. Music Direct is guaranteeing the organ for six months.
I am very satisfied with the instrument. A few technical questions that arose were responded to eventually by Peter.
I do think that the Company may be under-resourced though in terms of staff: it can be difficult to contact people. I note that not only is my instrument still advertised on their website, which apparently is out of date, but also that my account shows that I have placed no orders! Really!!
Even so, I am very glad that I made this purchase from Music Direct.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. If your trying to get a refund it's nearly impossible. Buyer beware. I bought a tube ,and the sent me the wrong one tried telling me it was the right one . Clearly it was not it had a different number on it. Still waiting for the refund. They keep lying to me every time I call
Exchange Fraud
Exchange fraud! They sent me a defective network player and the simple exchange cost me $1049.10. They deducted a huge restocking fee on an exchange and only paid a penny for the shipping. Do not do business with this company.

You owe your customers a refund and a apology but neither is likely to happen. Audiophiles take a stand and take your business elsewhere.

Poor service. International buyer beware and don't lose your time with this store. Have my order cancelled with discriminatory shipping policy. Keep your product rotting in your shop for your perfect qualified customer.
ZERO STARS
Giving one star because zero stars isn’t an option: 1)website said orders before 2pm are shipped same day. I placed my order at 4:16 am Tuesday morning, and two days later my $2200 speakers are WHO KNOWS WHERE? Looks like they’re still at Music Direct… FedEx doesn’t have the shipment although I was given a tracking number. They’ve made a label and that’s it. So much for “same day shipping on orders before 2pm”! I’ve called them numerous times and either get a rude representative, or someone who makes a promise the company doesn’t keep, 2)”free shipping on orders over $49” yet they charged me $75 shipping on a $2,200 order and SAID they would refund the shipping, but again… two days later NO REFUND. I hear “Covid”, “weather”, “blah blah blah” but why not take the same day shipping guarantee OFF THE WEB SITE if Covid-19 has been with us over TWO YEARS …. And the “weather” wasn’t an issue on TUESDAY when the order was supposed to ship. One excuse after another. When they open this morning, wonder what today’s excuse is going to be?
Poor experience with Music Direct
I have purchased a number of items from Music Direct over the years. I have never had an issue. I purchased an open box Clearaudio strobe.
The disc is warped, there were no materials included and the spine of the jacket was badly split.
I sent pictures and was offered a measly $10.
Alternatively, I could return it at a cost of $30.
Some retailers stand behind their products; Music Direct obviously does not...
DON’T BUY FROM THEM
I am giving one star because there is no zero star option. I ordered a turntable for my son for Christmas and the glass table came badly broken. Sent a photo ASAP and was told I would have the replacement. It took multiple follow-ups and 7 weeks - and they sent the wrong part and they have no solution other than getting a refund after 3-4 weeks or waiting for them to try to get the right replacement in 4-6 weeks. To add insult to injury, manager was beyond rude, speaking loudly over my voice to tell me it’s my fault. Crazy...

I bought the Elac Debut 2 DB6.2 walnut speakers for X'mas. They were $100 off at walnut finish available and free shipping !! could not find this deal anywhere else. Since I was worried from other people review on MD I called them regarding the shipping and spoke with a person in less than 30sec. she was very pleasant and answered all my questions.
Fast FedEx shipping. In my case I can say- Good product and service!!! for sure I will use again MD
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service, sales rep Josh should not be in customer service. When is it ok for an employee in sales to totally disregard a customers need and then hang up the phone on the customer and would not complete the order he had in front of him all because the customer prefer to pick up his order which the company allows rather than have the order ship. Why are you dealing with the public if you are an irate person and you do not have any patient to talk with buying customers. This type of behavior will deter new and existing customer from purchasing with the company, and the sad part about this bad experience is that the company gets another bad review which hurts the company more than the sales guy Josh.
