1971d lincoln penny to be conserved by NGC .
We sent 14 coins to NGC to be graded . Turn around time was about 2 months , average time for us . We usually are not in a hurry and this is the cheapest way for us . As our coins were going through the process they texted me for a penny that they wanted to conserve it ( cleaned ) . I texted them back within 24hrs and said YES . They expect you to respond within 1 business day , which I did . After about 2 weeks I called them , always a rep who works at HOME . These reps are very experienced at the questions I ask. Then I found out that the penny that I said to clean was NEVER cleaned and got it back in a flip . They need to give the customer MORE time to respond . I DON'T sit around with my phone in hand to answer every tax . Now we sent the penny back down as soon as we got it home , had to repay all the fees again because I told them when they had it there to CLEAN IT . HOW CAN THEY EXPECT PEOPLE'S RESPONSE IN SUCH A SHORT NOTICE? PLEASE extend the timetable for this procedure at least 3-4 days . What if I was sick , in the hospital, lost my phone ect. This is UNEXCEPTABLE on their part . They MUST have seen something on that penny to recommend conservation . It was a 1971D with the outline of Lincoln barely visible. I have been collecting coins for 50+yrs and NEVER seen one of these kinds of pennies . I looked on e-bay and saw only 1 very close and they were asking $1,500.00 for the penny . ALL lettering was visible and the reverse was red and looked great . So now we will have to wait again for this penny . ALL I'M TRYING TO SAY IS GIVE MORE TIME FOR TO DO THIS PROCEDURE NOT JUST 1 BUSINESS DAY . We have been customers for over 20yrs and this is the first time they recommended a coin sent to be graded to be cleaned . We believe they have seen something SPECIAL about this penny for wanting it to be conserved . Will keep everyone UPDATED when we receive the results . We think this was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL on their part .
A very good & professional company
A very good & professional company took my Prius to them at 8.30 with a battery problem they diagnosed and fixed the problem and I was on my way home by 11am, they were very helpful and explained the problem and carried out the work there & then and at a very reasonable price, Thank you again.
NGC is a garbage company
NGC is a garbage company, Turnaround times are ridiculous and the company policy is essentially to not give a single care in the world about the customer. They will take as long as they want with your order regardless of how much money you have spent and there is nothing you can do about it. Avoid them at all costs unless you enjoy waiting for months for an order
Absolute WASTE of money
Absolute WASTE of money, DO NOT BOTHER with the lousy NGC app, they do not answer you, they refuse your logins and request PW changes every time you use them. They do NOT answer Inquiries, they are a complete waste of money.

Worst company I have dealt with ever.
Worst company I have dealt with ever.
1)Lost or stole rare coin offering a third of replacement value.
2) Horrible cryptic accounting that took hours for me to find sizeable overcharges. Also, they initially held as credits and I had to make multiple requests for return of money. Thousands of discreate overcharges to customers add up to major money. They count on no one digging into their charges.
3) Complaints are met with excuses and refusal to communicate with management. Never have I witnessed the inability to talk to management before this.
4) Reprisal for complaining? I miraculously had 90% of the next two submissions graded "cleaned" after my complaints, as well as a stollen coin from the last shipment.
5)Only positive is their poor customer service people that a very nice but are powerless.
However, I did have one male hang up on me when I went deeper in questioning overcharges.
I have spent weeks out of my life dealing with absolute incompetency and worse.
I am filling a complaint with the BBB and Florida Attorney Generals Office. Then legal action.
Buyer beware is not a buzz phrase with NGC.
I concur with a previous post. A class action suit may be an option, particularly regarding their accounting practices and theft / losses.
They certainly need a good outside audit.
NGC seems very over rated
NGC seems very over rated. Charged 45.00 per Silver Dollar coin, with one more grading to be done on an 1878 GSA CC Morgan Silver dollar after my initial complaints of previous 5 coins, then undergraded the 1878 coin in what seems retaliation. Several experts viewed the coin in advance and advised me to send it out to be graded. They're opinion was that it may hit the MS65 grade, and worst case MS64. They graded it MS62, pretty laughable.
Munich NGC office is a shame
Munich NGC office is a shame ! My coins were stolen there. They don t respond to messages! Ignoring our company ! Avoid this Munich office! AVOID!
Rip off.
I heard that it costed about $20 per coin to have them graded, so I paid for NGC membership. I then found out that to have my 2 Ben Franklin half dollars graded would cost me over $200, plus shipping. I will not be utilizing the membership after all. Plus, after reading all of the recent complaints about NGC, I decided to completely opt out and beg for a refund…
Incompetent
Incompetent, Have no knowledge of coins they are grading and will not accept your direction. Can carless what you request, I had to send back incapsulated coins to correct their dumb mistakes. Too expensive for disaster work they do. DO NOT Waist Your Money.
I sent a 1964 no mint mark proof strike…
I sent a 1964 no mint mark proof strike deliberately minted for the public that year ment for circulation. This coin I sent was ms 68 or better. But someone switched out my penny with something a 1964 gumball machine would have rejected should have been a million dollar sale but coin switched out on me. I tried to take it to court but. The crime took place in Florida I would have to serve a trip to Florida from NY I'd never be able to make that trip alive do to health problems. So yah NGC got away with stealing a million dollar penny. I was going to help people with the profits from that. But clearly NGC are thieves. Peace ✌️ too all of you.
Worst in industry
Turn into tarnish company. NGC have one of the highest fees in industry and provide worst service compare to another 3 major grading companies. Highest fees, turn around time awful, quality of service terrible. Coins can be send back not encapsulated even when they just cleaned, put fake coins in slabs, label errors. Even coins can arrive with lower grade after re-grade which is not possible accordingly to their policy that coins graded by NgC can not be over-graded (which is mean coins can’t be regraded lower).
80 MISGRADED COINS! CALLING ALL ATTORNEYS FOR A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT!
I know that I’m not the only person out there that NGC illegally misgraded every single one of their 80 coins that I paid over $6K for Grading Services to be fulfilled that were not!! I cannot be the only one out there that paid for a numerical grade, mint errors and varieties and didn’t know that if they were cleaned? I would still have to pay for all 3 and only get an adjectival grade. I can’t be the only one who no one told this to and had to hear from other people when they got back! I cannot be the only one who NGC has bankrupt with their lying. I am looking for an attorney to file a class action lawsuit! I know that I am not the only one whose coins you have misgraded and bankrupt for paying for a numerical grade, mint errors and varieties. I know that I’m not the only one who didn’t know that if the coins were labeled “cleaned” or “environmentally damaged” that they wouldn’t get numerical grades, at all. I know that I’m not the only one was sent back a pile of coins, that they paid full price including mint errors and varieties for, in plastic…not even slabbed. I know that I’m not the only one who didn’t know that NGC would only grade a coin with an off center or rotated reverse die to a certain degree. I know that I’m not the only one who you have taken advantage of! You bankrupted me. I’m going to bankrupt you. Each and every single coin that I sent in is doubled die. Every single one. Maybe 1-2 that wasn’t. NGC is practicing illegal activity. NGC is not grading authentically or effectively, not even genuinely. NGC does not give a classification for a series of mint errors sent in bulk presented to them. The only way that I’ll ever see NGC? Will be in court in a class action lawsuit. There were so many mint errors and varieties; in series; even new that weren’t accounted for that I sent that should have been given a brand new classification? It makes me sick! What NGC is doing illegally? Makes me sick! They are taking advantage of people and having them shovel money down their throats even when they’re not fulfilling their duties that were paid for! This is illegal! They are not grading coins appropriately because they have such closed minds with people with such little experience that know nothing about coins struck on a different die or brand new theories. I had coins in my invoices that were without a doubt brand new VAM’s and doubled dies! Just review the photos!
And then, the only reason that I know any of this is from the website! Because the invoice with 46 slabs and the invoice with 9 slabs? WORTH A FORTUNE!!!! SOME ONE STOLE OFF MY DOOR STEP BECAUSE NGC DIDNT EVEN ASK FEDEX TO GET A SIGNATURE FROM ME. ON TOP OF THAT? I bet an attorney would have all of these coins re-graded at no cost to me in addition to others who have been taken advantage of by NGC. So, now? I’m missing 55 VALUABLE slabbed coins and the only way that I can even see them is through the NGC page!!!
Horrible grades
Horrible grades, not even close to what they should have been. As well as sabotage when I. Emailed them twice about what was taking so long. If their website would say that they had a month and A half turn around, it would be a different story. But it doesn't. It says 10 days a month later, of course I'm going to email. But I literally can't believe they ruined two of my coins that they didn't grade.
They need to send my coins to me that I paid for
They simply won't give me my coins. I have been hospitalized indefinitely and they refuse to send my coins to me because they won't except my new address at the VA hospital.
They honor their No-Cost Guarantee
I recently sent in a coin for grading and when it was returned it had errors on the label (Mechanical Errors). NGC honored their guarantee and paid for return shipping, correcting the error and performed quality control before shipping back to me for free. We are all human, errors happen. Nice to see a grading company honor their guarantee!
Awful turnaround times
Awful turnaround times. My last batch of coins was submitted on 5/10/25, with an "estimated" turnaround of 30 days. It's been listed as "Scheduled for Grading" for more than 100 days.
This is unacceptable, and I won't be submitting again.
Bad coin inspector's
Recently sent 5 mint error coins. They only graded one with a chip a error but paid for 5 errors. Sent message where double die on 4 coins.
Doubling clearly visible with jewers loupe or coin microscope . The got charge duty on my own coins. So pissed
PERMANENTLY BANNED. What me worry?
The company does as well as can be expected with the resources allotted. There are too many variables involved in assessing phenomena such as turn-around times but nearly 40 years since its inception, by all accounts, it's doing just fine. While your experiences my vary, a healthy perception of the coin-collecting public has unwaveringly put their trust in NGC. Having ridden the national circuit extensively, I am not at all surprised its Chat Board, in my assessment, is No. 1. I used to end my contributions with, "Man, I love this place!" Banned extensively, I still feel the same way and likely always will. P.S. Their custoner service reps are the politest people on the planet! if you collect coins, you're in the right place.
I was disappointed with my recent…
I was disappointed with my recent experience submitting ten coins for grading, which cost over $800. The process took an unusually long time, approximately two to three months, to receive results. Additionally, I believe the grading was inconsistent, as several coins were significantly undergraded. Notably, I submitted five Morgan dollars with clear DMPL or PL characteristics, exhibiting strong frosty cameo contrast. However, these were not graded as DMPL or PL, despite appearing comparable or superior to similarly graded coins in NGC and PCGS holders. This experience has led me to question the accuracy and reliability of the grading process. As a result, I would not recommend submitting coins to this service and advise others to exercise caution.
