Thank you so much for your considered review and for all the time you’ve taken to communicate with us, both here and via email – we really appreciate it.

We’re very sorry that you’ve encountered some issues, particularly around syncing and performance on your eInk tablet. As we have discussed in our email communications with you, our development team has looked into this and recently released an update aimed at improving stability on these more niche devices. eInk tablets are still relatively new in our user base, but we recognise their growing popularity among writers, and we're keen to offer more robust support for them going forward.

We also completely understand how important it is to feel confident that your work is safe and syncing reliably. Ensuring data integrity is one of our highest priorities, and we’re continuing to monitor and improve our systems to prevent issues like the one you experienced.

In terms of feature requests, we’re happy to share that we’ve taken on board your feedback and a full-screen/distraction-free writing mode is something we’re actively looking into. We are also working on other writing-focused features such as dark mode, which we hope to release later this year.

Lastly, we fully appreciate that subscription models aren’t for everyone. In response to feedback like yours, we recently introduced a lifetime licence option for Version 3 of The Novel Factory, which allows you to buy our software as a one-off rather than pay for an ongoing subscription. We also work hard to keep all our offerings as competitively priced as possible, while still allowing us to invest in development and responsive support.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you don’t think the software is cost-effective. We offer a number of subscription and one-off purchase options to try to suit all budgets, with our Basic Annual subscription currently working out at just $6.25/month. This is significantly cheaper than many of our competitors including Dabble ($9/month) and Living Writer ($12/month). We also run regular promotions to help make the software even more accessible.

Regarding features, we’re continuously adding new tools based on customer feedback and suggestions – for example, we have just launched a new ‘Timelines’ feature, which was hugely requested by our userbase. We understand that not every feature will be valuable to every writer, but we are committed to continuously evolving the software to meet a wide range of writing needs. If you have any suggestions or requests for features you would like to see, please do get in touch with us – we’re a small but passionate team, and we’re always looking for ways we can improve.
