They came to install trickle vents and extractors. Whilst fixing the extractor fan in the bathroom, they broke the window lock and left dents on the window, left the window ajar and left. Even after I returned from work, they didn't mention the spoilt window. They also left the rubbish in a black bag in my kitchen and left. I tried closing the window only to realise it could only remain ajar. I rang but they had closed. On my break the next day, I called from work, to be told they would investigate by looking at their pictures and videos, as well as speak to the men that came. I didn't hear from them till I rang, at 4pm. I rang severally before it was picked by someone who told me their closing time was 5pm and it's been looked into. I expressed my concerns for it being Friday and didn't wish to be left all weekend with a compromised window. I received a call later stating they couldn't get hold of the men but after reviewing their footage, the window closed. The window looked ajar even based on their images sent to me, but they insisted. I got home and sent follow up pictures of both the trash left behind and the window, I was told by the lady that called that she would further process it next week Tuesday. I expressed concerns about being left at such compromised situation, she said she'd get another pair of eyes to see the images since her eyes appear not to see what I'm saying. I sent follow up pictures, called severally no one picked the call. This is the worst experience ever, I am now stuck with a bad and dented window for the weekend with my boys.

Added later today at 22:28hrs after your response:
I will like to see that presurvey picture. I haven't asked anyone for any compensation, I was asking for my window to be replaced as I didn't wish to be in the cold with my sons all through the weekend, which you have eventually achieved as we are in the cold. I have sent pictures of my spoilt lock on my window and the trash the guys left. Even from your pictures, it shows that the window wasn't properly closed. Mya said she hasn't asked the lads yet, she said she was going to investigate then didn't get back u till I called, then she showed me pic of the door still ajar, insisting it was well closed. Send me your email and I'd send you the damages, also ask the guys. Ask them how they installed the extractor... My window is so dented and spoilt after your visit!

Also, I haven't threatened to leave any review. When I last called and spoke to Mya, I was told she would contact a second eye, I sent her the damages from same view to her WhatsApp message she sent to me. Then I started calling only to find out that your office was closed. I'm sending this review being so severely hurt by your actions and no your response.

Unfortunately threatening to leave a poor review unless you receive compensation isn’t the way to go. As we explained we haven’t touched the window and the pre survey photos show the same damage weeks ago before anyone attended the property.

We’ll consider this matter closed, if it was a genuine issue allowing a couple hours to resolve it is unreasonable and unrealistic

Well done young Men . you are credit to the Company. Knew what they were doing helped each other when required. Explained everything that they were going to do .Kitchen Fan needed a little bit of trunking which was totally fine . The bathroom fan was put straight into the ceiling . No mess and if there was it was cleaned away . Thank you . Brilliant hard working cheerful lads .

Customer satisfaction not on the agenda

This company were sub-contracted by Borthwick and carried out work in my home under the Great British Insulation Scheme. Initially we were impressed that they visited our property to discuss what the work would entail (having just refurbished our home we had concerns about what the work would look like and wanted to ensure we were clear on exactly what the ventilation equipment and installation process would look like). My husband and the gentleman who came over went through exactly what would be done, devising a plan to ensure any trunking would virtually unseen.
When the engineers arrived, they had the incorrect information on what to install but made adjustments to their plans accordingly. I should have known at this point that these pre-installation discussion outcomes hadn’t been passed on. Unfortunately, I was working so was unable to see the work being carried out until around an hour after they had started. I was shocked to see that the fan that had been installed in my kitchen had been fitted in the middle of the wall, not at the side, as agreed, meaning there was 4 inches of ugly plastic trunking going up my wall (it was agreed, and also would have been easier, for the fan to sit lower and more flush with the side of the wall so most trunking would be hidden by the top of the kitchen unit). Also, the fuse was wall mounted, not sat flush in the wall meaning alongside the trunking, there was a huge wall-mounted plastic box!
I rang Oak Electrotechnical and spoke to a lady who was polite and understanding of the fact that we were unhappy with the quality of the install. She promised to get back to me the following week once she had spoken to the relevant people. This did not happen so I rang the number on the website. The person who answered the phone was the owner who told me he knew nothing about the conversation I’d had the previous week and that the lady I spoke to was ‘just admin’. That lack of respect was the theme of the rest of our conversation where I was told the contract they work under for the Great British Insulation Scheme only provides wall-mounted trunking, not the chasing I was requesting. I explained we had understood there would be trunking but that due to the incorrect agreed positioning of the fan, it was significantly more than what we agreed to and completely on show. I was only requesting chasing to remedy the work that had been carried out, as the fan could not be relocated as it was through the brick wall at this point. His attitude towards me was exceptionally rude and dismissive and when I asked if he usually responds so rudely to customers who are unsatisfied with work his company have carried out, I was told most people are just grateful they have had thousands of pounds of work done for free! We qualified for a scheme through the government, so I’m not entirely sure why I should be grateful to him or accept a really cheap job being done! The scheme also lines his pocket quite nicely! I was also told that as my husband is an electrician, he could easily put the work right! What a response! I would never have agreed to any work being done in the house had I known this is what it was going to look like. They completely ignored what we had said and have ruined the aesthetics of my newly fitted kitchen. Company priority is clearly to do as much work as possible, with the least regard for the customer, and get the most money from government schemes! Having since read other negative reviews on here, I am confident I will be called a liar and such like, as he has other reviewers, but be warned, a company that repeatedly goes on the defensive is one to stay well clear of.

Oak are a company that cares

After 2 weeks without hot water and heat, the Oak electrotechnical company came and fixed the problem .
Fabulous service. The 2 guys were good at their job and the skill was evident.
Not only had they traveled from Kendal to Mansfield, they waited until the whole heating system was running correctly. They showed my husband what he needed to know and left.
Very polite team of 2 the company should be proud to have such assets as these workers .

Highbrid install

Just had the guys in to install Solar panels, heat pump and gas boiler and all associated electrics, could not be more impressed. Very friendly, hard working, neat and tidy. Explained everything, now up and running in 2 days, start to finish, brilliant. Great job cheers guys.

Window vents & loft unit fitted

Recently had works completed at my mams house via Borthwick Group as part of the ECO funded works.

Bailey & Jack fitted a PIV unit in the loft to help eliminate any damp and also fitted some vents onto the windows

All works done in 90 minutes and they left everything spotless. Well done !!

Oak Electrotechnical - a pleasure to deal with!!

This review is for Oak Electrotechnical as a customer with me serving them with one of the simplest, free of fuss transactions.

From the initial telephone call and prompt payment with Anthony, through to a smooth handover with him only a couple of days later, it was a real pleasure to be able to supply OE their latest vehicle, and I look forward to supplying further vehicles for them in the future.

Oak came out and put a new thermostat…

Oak came out and put a new thermostat and linked it to my boiler as the old one was broke. Really clean work though out the job and really polite lads Will definitely be recommending oak 👍

That’s oak back again to my property for the third time, normally this is a bad thing but not this time, they back because I keep on adding to my property and I personally would not go anywhere else great job once again finally got power to my man cave heaters fridges lighting now it’s beer time

Dangerous and incompetent; of the lowest imaginable quality

Oak electrotechnical arrived at my home as a subcontractor of Borthwick Heating. I did not hire them, I did not pay them. They turned up with no ID, telling me they had to fit electrical ventilation into my house to protect from damp that may arise from the closing of air bricks by yet another Borthwick contractor.
Within minutes one of the two workers drilled through a buried cable in a wall and blew the mains 15A fuse. I told him I'd replace it, but he shoved me aside and said he'd do it. I asked him how he would repair the damage and he showed me a small electrical quick coupler. He made a huge hole in the wall and buried the coupler in the plaster using caulk which he 'smoothed' with his fingers.
As a result of their work, my house was filled with dust and grit, the mess they left was absolutely everywhere. It took a friend and I a whole day to clean it.
The installation was of two "I-Constant intelligent extractors". These constantly sense humidity in the air (intelligent feature) and expel air outside to bring the humidity back down. They should be wired into a fused switched mains outlet. Instead, Oak wired them unfused, unswitched into the ceiling light rose. As a result, the extractors power on with the light and cannot run without the light switched on. (not constant or intelligent) The intelligent features cannot work and have been over-ridden in the settings. When I try to relax in the bath on an evening it sounds like a jet engine running next to me. Even when the humidity reaches 100% if the light is off then the extractor is off. If I want humidity protection, I have to leave my lights on.
The cables were placed in trunking that Oak stuck to my ceiling and walls. They apparently don't know what a mitred cut is, and it looks utterly awful. One of the workers caulked my ceiling rose to the ceiling instead of refitting the original screws. The end flanges for the ducts were abandoned on my floor. As a result, each time I open a door the draft around the duct has grit and insulation falling to the floor. Only half of the mounting screws are fitted, and the cord grip is not present but left with the flanges that they couldn't be bothered to fit.
After they left, I checked the functionality and discovered these problems, I also noticed they had refitted the blown 15A fuse upside down and frighteningly replaced the 15 fuse wire with 30 amp wire. This meant my whole mains circuit was not only unprotected, but downright dangerous.
Added to these problems, one of their fitters leaning over my stainless fridge left gouges on the fridge with something attached to the waist of his trousers.
In summary Oak made my safe house dangerous, did not leave my house in the condition they found it, damaged my house wiring, made unsafe repairs to their damage, incorrectly fitted ducting, failed to fit safety devices such as fuses, switches and cord grips, wired a mains device into my lighting circuit, fitted a 30A fuse in place of the correct 15A, left their installation faulty, fitted trunking of an unacceptable quality and damaged my fridge.
Legally because I did not hire them, I have no contract with them. My contract is with Borthick Heating who tell me, incorrectly, that I must take it up with Oak.
I know consumer rights, but I still took advice from Citizen's Advice. They were so shocked they contacted Trading Standards who in turn raised a case against Borthwick Heating. Weeks later Trading Standards asked me if I would be part of a collective complaint as so many people had raised complaints.
There is nothing I can do but pursue a case against Borthwick Heating who will in turn have to pursue Oak. This is the absolute worst situation for a consumer. When I contacted Borthwick and told them what Trading Standards had said, their minion "Sadie" just didn't care. When I told her my house was in a dangerous state, she said fill in an online fault report. When I explained it was Borthwick that had the contract with Oak, apparently her intellect couldn't grasp what I was telling her......
Don't ever use Oak or Borthwick, they are in my opinion, the worst 'Tradesmen' imaginable.

Oak's response is a desperate, flailing lie. I have the evidence and support I need. Borthwick reached out to me today and I will respond with a suggestion to mutually settle my grievance.
It's not your failures that determine your integrity; it's how you handle your failings.

Whilst I thank you for your review it comes as a surprise as this is the first we have heard of any of the above. What you describe is quite rightly incompetent but also unfortunately is untrue from what we can see. We have no record of dealing with you as a customer, the majority of your complaint mentions another company and for instance, a 15A fuse carrier can not be fitted upside down as the pins are off centre which prevents this from being possible. There are many other false statements within the review but to cover them all would take too large a response.
We requested your contact information but following a quick google search we discovered your email domain name is known for abusive content and spam across the internet so we took the decision not to engage. We get false reviews and emails regularly and we are keen not to get involved with untrustworthy sources of information as it can lead to viruses etc. We can also see from your profile you have a track record of posting bad reviews with 1 stars.

IF it was our operatives who completed the works we can only apologise at this point and if we had a record of the job we could send our MD out who would be happy to rectify any issues. Failing that since you have stated you have a trading standards case, we shall wait to hear from them as we have had no such correspondence from them as yet, which again seems suspicious.
