The staff at the quayside restaurant were lovely and friendly and the food was excellent. The young lad who took our orders was very helpful

My wife an I had lunch here. mid March 2026. The restaurant is in a prime location, and when the upstairs area is open, has a wonderful view (Only the downstairs area was open when we went) so we knew that it would not be cheap. My wife had Lemon Sole, but it came fried in deep batter rather than pan fried (which we had expected), but it was a nice piece of fish. My regular cod was very thinly cut and was much more batter than there was cod. On the +side, the mushy peas were perfect as was the white bread, and also the chips, but for £39 (with two pots of tea) it was overpriced

We had a lovely visit to quayside today. After walking around looking for gluten free for our daughter we were greeted by friendly staff who told us they did a gluten free menu which was cooked in a seperate fryer (if you are coeliac you will understand how happy this made us). The food arrived quickly and was lovely. Our daughter was extremely happy and it is probably the only place we have been that does a childrens gluten free menu. You made her day today. Thank you

My first visit with a friend who's had lots of meals ...2 simple orders small cod and chips £15.50 and medium haddock and chips £18.90... food arrived with two plates of cold chips with cooked fish on ......I was given a fresh portion! it's obvious my friends were cold too ...staff were nice , never came to ask if we wanted a desert or anything had to go ask to pay ..upstairs wasn't been used no heating on when visited the toilets ....expensive food for customers easy money for the business ....I certainly won't return not ! Rip off ...only had to get 2 things right fish and chips ! To serve cold chips is not acceptable .....

I visited earlier today and was extremely happy they provide gluten free fish, chips and scraps🎉 the team were fantastic, happy and professional. Only took 5 minutes from ordering to be served to take away. I have to say they are the best gluten free fish chips and scraps I have ever eaten. Thank you so much to the take away team you made my day x

Compared to a few years ago it seems the place has gone downhill. Very disappointing!
Fish was small.....children's portion that tasted as if it been standing for a while. Not impressed by the batter either. Chips were dry. Certainly not worth the price of £12.50.
My local chippy serves fish twice as big and charges £5 less.

Fish was under cooked chips a bit past there best. pointed this out to the waiter just got a shrug of the shoulder and a sorry. Not be going there again.

A few days ago we went at lunch time for a takeaway to eat on the beach. Very expensive but considering how recommended Quayside was, and all the awards they've won, we thought it would be a treat.
Unfortunately it was disappointing and one of us got food poisoning.
When we unpacked the bag, one of the boxes was covered in oil, so much I had to put a towel on my lap to put it on. The fish was lovely, and amazing that they cater for gluten free, it's the only redeeming part of the lunch. The chips had absorbed a lot of that oil/grease so I ended up leaving a lot.
My partner who isn't gluten intolerant had the regular batter. He had a battered sausage and chips and the batter on his sausage was soft and very greasy, to the point you could squish it, and as we found out a few hours later, it wasn't right as he's had food poisoning from it ever since.

Overall would not recommend and didn't live up to the hype.

The whole experience of a simple fish and chips meal was excellent from start to finish. A warm welcome. Pleasant staff. Tasteful surroundings. Above all amazing food.

Went visited the restaurant for the first time yesterday 24/3. The service was great and food came really quickly, unfortunately we came across a couple of issues with the meals. The restaurant was very busy and I didn’t want to cause a fuss so I paid the bill - however when your paying over £80 for a meal you expect it to be perfect and unfortunately it wasn’t..... my son discovered 2 hairs in his chips,myself and my husband had fish and chips and discovered towards the end of the meal that the plate was swimming in grease from the fish - later in the day we both felt very nauseous from this

Been here many times for fish and chips
Yesterday was a BIG disappointment
Got the order wrong , even though it’s taken on an iPad, turned up eventually dripping in oil, my wife’s scampi’s were none existent,too much batter no meat..
Got charged £2.25 for a portion of garden peas !!
Two meals 40 quid !, never going again

This company is doing so many great things the food is lush and gluten free options but the upstairs cocktails and staff are the creme de la creme Sophie is just one in a million and paired with Don or Dom (apologies if not right #cocktails) is a great night combo bespoke cocktails excellent conversation and chat....thank you

Visiting Whitby and had a cod and chips takeaway from the Quayside restaurant. Absolutely delicious and good sized portion.
Young lad that served us was very friendly and helpful.
Definitely going again!
